Obviously it's not a "good" movie by conventional standards, but I don't think it was ever meant to be either, which is why it has such an abundance of strange/campy scenes and dialogue. If you can't watch this and get a smile, something is wrong with you.

Instead they sink 6 million into the movie and dont even break even. Fucking disappointing really. had they made some money they could at least say they did it for the money. Im an Ice fan and Ive got this movie. This movie was doomed before it ever hit the screen. So many people were against him by the time it was comming out. The movie wasnt a bad one. Bad effects, lots of color but then again all of the early 90's had alot of color. Gangsta rap hit the scene and even Hammer was screwed.
The plot is simple. Take a shitty white rapper, and milk his popularity for all it's worth, then dump him like your now pregnant girlfriend. Voila...movie.
They remade this movie a few years ago and called it 8 Mile.

It's not that they're dated- only the BAD ones are. Examples: Jurassic Park Schindler's List Fight Club. The Matrix Total Recall Dick Tracy Die Hard 2 Die Hard with a Vengeance Ghost Edward Scissorhands and so on.

This movie cost $3 million to make, a third of that just to get Ice on board, only made over a million dollars at the box office. This proved even a Vanilla Ice movie was not a sure thing.
I was in england for 3 weeks in 1998 and Cool as ICe was in the tv like 10 times while I was there. They only had like 4 channels at the time so I basically watched it every time. iIliked it. There's something endearing about it.
At least Prince tried to make something creative with Graffiti Bridge, at least that's what is told. Cool As Ice was nothing but a cheap cash-in on a rapidly vanishing novelty fad.
The 90's was such an aweful time...
