You seem to have mentioned the m40a5 and sv98 a lot, but barely any mention of this versus the m98b, which has lower bullet drop and much higher damage, with the tradeoff being clip size.

Are there other factors that make you pick L96 over m98b? Personally I use m98b + ballistic for ALL sniping situations and do pretty well with it; I'm just very comfortable with its bullet drop by now.

Ever since Black Ops and MW3, all I've evr heard from kids was "omg the l96 is so leet it r the best guns ever!!!" and it really pisses me off. It's nice to see someone who actually knows more about the gun and the company who makes it.

Just to let people know: the l96 has a velocity of 540m/s when you multiply that by 3.6 your have the km/h. So that means the bullet goes with a speed of 1944km/h. That is damn fast!

You need the new map pack and then have to complete the assignment which is to get 50 headshots, 50 spot assists and 5 knife take downs with the Recon class.

Used this a bit more today and loved it, I like to use it with either holographic or acog x4 and a suppressor, flash suppressor to nothing and of course a straight pull bolt, this only really works best for close to medium ranges, still s great for getting lots of kills! :D

@oliversmith14 You need 50 headshots (can be with any type of weapon), 50 spot assists, and 5 knife kills from behind where you take their dogtags. You have to have unlocked the first rifle too however, which is 20 sniper kills and 5 SOFLAM laser designations.

yep, u chaned my view on how to play the sniper. I like the recon class and i just unlocked the L96 couple of days ago. Still need to switch over from my sv98. But, now i have seen your footage, i will! And, .. i am going to throw away the bipod also!

WOW how did they get it so wrong when they made the animation for the bolt on this rifle... the block on the rear of the bolt dosent rotate when you cock this rifle, it stays in the same rotation throughout. :/ well i guess they spent most of their time getting the US weapons to look right then just had a day off with the british rifle.. :( its a shame... that is a great rifle

i dont get the point of the straight pull, you don't shoot faster you just stay scoped in, making you an easier target for other snipers, and if the bipod guy is well hidden you won't find him. unless you put on acog for close range it seems like a bad trade off..

I like to put a lazersight on the boltsniper in case ur suprised up close, u get a slightly better chance of hitting where u aim. ALTHOUGH I try to remember to put it off (key T i think by default) when aiming at a corner in close corridors and the like,,, so they dont see the beam.. :)

I have gotten really used to the m40's drop for medium-long distance targets, and to my delight I found the the l96 with a suppressor has the same (IMO) drop as the m40

Also the damage even with a suppressor never seems to go below 50 damage, so ohhs's are still possible....

There's no reason NOT to attach a laser sight/flashlight as your third attachment as they can be turned off with the touch of a button. They sometimes come in handy in CQ situations when scoping in is too risky.

I like the M40A5 because (and I'm not certain this is true) I find it aims down its scope slightly faster faster than the other snipers. I was really enjoying using the L96 but for some reason, at least on the PS3, the straight pull bolt doesn't fully work and forced you to pull the trigger after every shot if you want to get a quick followup shot. I've been using the SKS lately with grip, silencer and Holographic, it makes a pretty good assault rifle.

Well done with the review. I simply love this gun. One thing that I feel that you might have missed or left out is how it wobbles between shots if you don't re-scope (obviously when using the straight pull bolt). I find that the sights wobble-animations take too long for me to actually use its quick reload speed. If you feel like it, try comparing it to the SV98 or M40A5 - there really is a huge difference in my opinion. Based on this, I'm considering to start using the good ol' SV98 instead.

last i checked the l96 and sv 98 shoot the same round and last i checked the same two types of bullets will travel at the same or very close to the same speed. meaning the sv 98 and l 96 have the same bullet drop which i have proven with my friend.

@JohnEGOGaming Knife takedowns should be easy.... There are tons of sniper campers on the bigger maps. Just take a jet, eject behind enemy lines and go commando (make sure to take a supresser for your guns)
