I think that kratos could not save his family with the power of te fates.
If kratos change the destiny of his family, then he would change the destiny of the world. If he saved his family from himself he had not the strength or the possibilities to prevent that Persefhone would destroy the world.
Whoever wrote the storyline for this game is a damn idiot. It has a huge flaw. After killing the sisters, Kratos now controls the threads of time right? Why wouldn't he use that power to go back and prevent the death of his wife and child. Isn't that the part of his past that haunts him the most?

If he takes Gaia from the old times and teleport her to now, she would not have lived at the point where he was stabbed in the beginning of GoW2 and as such he would be dead in current time. This is damn confusing, they make a point that if the sword used to beat Ares is destroyed he could not win that day and would die, yet since he teleports Gaia he could not be rescued at the first battle with Zeus and would also die.. Inconsistensy much? Ruins the whole story
If Kratos could time travel back to the time of the Titans vs Olympians war, why the heck couldn't he just kill Zeus back then when he was younger and weaker?

And in GOW3 they decided Kratos doesn't care if his vengeance destroy the whole world, Sparta included, effectively making him worse than Zeus, and the Titans just get their asses kicked.
The first game had a good plot, the writing just got worse and worse each sequel. CoO at least gave a reason why Kratos shouldn't keep himself from stopping his family's death, but no reason is given why he doesn't go back and save Diemos.
I'm talking about plot. Really, this whole game is mostly just a rehash of the original, and GOWIII is loaded with plot holes and just other stuff that's wrong its plot. The Titans serve almost no purpose, Kratos forgets that he can travel through time and is made into more of a villain the Zeus or Ares, the change what the fires of Olympus are, and Athena directing Kratos to Pandora's box in the first game next no sense with how dangerous it was supposed to be.
@dragonstormx In their defense adding in the time powers would be stepping on Prince of Persia's territory, since power over time is kinda a central theme in that particular franchise (at least it was in the first, I don't know about the sequels).
Not really, Legend of Zelda and Chrono Trigger both had time travel elements before Prince of Persia did.
There isn't a lot of time traveling in the Prince of Persia sequels, the 2nd one is running for your life from an all-powerful monster with the weakness to water, and the 3rd main element is a superpowered evil side.

And in GOW3 they decided Kratos doesn't care if his vengeance destroy the whole world, Sparta included, effectively making him worse than Zeus, and the Titans just get their asses kicked.
The first game had a good plot, the writing just got worse and worse each sequel. CoO at least gave a reason why Kratos shouldn't keep himself from stopping his family's death, but no reason is given why he doesn't go back and save Diemos.

I'm talking about plot. Really, this whole game is mostly just a rehash of the original, and GOWIII is loaded with plot holes and just other stuff that's wrong its plot. The Titans serve almost no purpose, Kratos forgets that he can travel through time and is made into more of a villain the Zeus or Ares, the change what the fires of Olympus are, and Athena directing Kratos to Pandora's box in the first game next no sense with how dangerous it was supposed to be.

@dragonstormx In their defense adding in the time powers would be stepping on Prince of Persia's territory, since power over time is kinda a central theme in that particular franchise (at least it was in the first, I don't know about the sequels).

Not really, Legend of Zelda and Chrono Trigger both had time travel elements before Prince of Persia did.
There isn't a lot of time traveling in the Prince of Persia sequels, the 2nd one is running for your life from an all-powerful monster with the weakness to water, and the 3rd main element is a superpowered evil side.

Ares and Athena were the two battle deities of Olympus, with their untimely deaths, the gods lost most of their strategic foresight and martial defense...
