Not a bad video for a phenomenal piece of music. I remember those tall ship ceremonies back in ’76--my parents took me to see one of those things. They’re actually written about by Stephen King in one of the Dark Tower books--when Jake Chambers is reintroduced in “The Drawing of the Three” there’s some tall ship party nearby. Oh, and I was his same age when this came out. Lots of memories, here.
from nativeheart 4U- TO NY3UVL714.- i have no ideal who you are and further more, i don't want to know. as for your response to my comment concerning this video is crazy! what gives you the right to make a big deal over a silly video when i was merely just stating an opinion. nothing serious, not demeaning, just an opinion. i wasn't bothering anyone but mnding my own business. in future opinions of mine, plz just leave me alone ok? this whole thing is crazy.
Billboard's #15 song of '76. Diana hit #1 soul, and pop, #19 AC in Billboard. Like her Billie Holliday she improvised in there, right, gang? God bless ya, Miss Diana!
@nativeheart4u The video has everything to do with the song. These are the images of 1976 the year this record came out. The music underscores the scenes from that year.
...we heard this for the first time at the Gallery in NYC and Nicky Sciano played the slow intro. about 5 times before he "let it rip"....talk about pent up frustration, those DJ's knew how to work a room.....and look at all the great music they had to work with...
back then we had all in the family a comedy for t.v. and sanford and sons the blacks called whites honkeys. lol and we called them niggers lol. they made a song called "say it loud, im black and im proud" which u will never find on any radio these liberal days haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
yes Diana, the beginning is really funny. It reminds me that sometimes even mega stars watch youtube. And when they usually just look at their own shit so they can read all the comments of the retarded people who as a medium to reach out.
This was on the self-titled Diana Ross LP that was released the second week of February 1976. At the same time, a ballad from it was also issued as a single, "I Thought It Took A Little Time." But "Love Hangover" wouldn't wait and Motown issued the edited 45 version of it by late March and it zoomed to No. 1, as it was bound too. But by doing that ,"Hangover" essentially killed the chance the "Time" single needed to build, and it stalled out on Billboard at No. 47.
@eisha1011 OF COURSE......WE who are now in our 50's and 60's had the best MUSIC industry of ALL TIME back in the 1960's and the 1970's.......IT WAS AN INCREDIBLE TIME ! ! Wish you could have seen it.......
On a scale of 1-10, DRto me is probably a "7"... but THIS one is SO DAMN BAD... was in L.A. and caught it on Sirius this week. Maybe I've played it here 10-12 times since I got back ! !
You sure she's "laughing"? Seems like it could be something like a "yearning" sound she's making -- as if to say I WANT MORE... hmmm... guess it worth debating right ?? Ha... either way, great song... !
I am 45 and still addicted to this song. I remember when I first heard it. My mom had her black Pinto with the blue stripe down the middle and the Mag wheels. We were driving down Mission Street in 1975...
why would it be weird to have great taste in music. Count yourself lucky, some people take all their youth before they start to appreciate quality music. And some never do!!!!!!
This song is a little bit of a copy of Donna Summer's song "Love to Love You Baby", (which came out the year before), with the moaning, but it's still a good song though.
"Love To Love You Baby" (album and 45) were available by November 1975. "Love Hangover," even on the album first, wasn't around until February 1976. By the time the "Love Hangover" single was out, Donna Summer's next hit, a disco-fied remake of Barry Manilow's "Could It Be Magic" was on the scene too.
Ahhh brings back memories. I had forgotten the name of this tune decades ago but every once in a while it would surface and torment me because I couldnt remember. The video is interesting and original.
The video is bizarre but the 'current events' parts of it are compelling. The video and song have nothing to do with each other except for the era they represent.
