our labrador grooms our tuxedo cat, there both males so I really didn't know what to think of it. "brotherly love?"

It doesn't necessarily mean the cat has fleas. Our dog nibbles our cat and the cat has no fleas. The cat DOES love it. She seeks it out. Then she'll groom the dog, too. Interspecies LOVE!
