OK, FACT CHECK :

This claim that Obama's inauguration cost 4 times as much as Bush's second inauguration is misleading.

When the media such as Fox News reported the expense of Bush's inaug., they didn't include the security costs, but for Obama, they did. In fact, if you cut out Obama's security cost, his inauguration is about $42.3 mil, only slightly higher than Bush's. What's also interesting is that if you do include security expense in Bush's, his inauguration is actually more costly.

Not to side with either party's politics, but, every presidents inauguration will cost more than the last. It's called inflation. So, if you use just the $##.##, yeah, it will increase. Not only inflation, but minimum wage has increased since the last inauguration, and think about how many people work to make an inauguration happen. Even more in the last few inaugurations with the growing security concerns (whether said security concerns are fact or fiction, it still costs money!).

So they base the spending on people coming in because this is a historical event, not the money spent on the event it self but people using their own jets? How do the actions of the people reflect what he has spent. aww c'mon everyone, let the man have his day---costliest or not [which i'm guessing security measures are making up the bulk of the total]. i differ with President Obama philosophically/politically, but i wish him and his administration well, and honor him on inaugural day. we as a nation need to work together no matter our politics.

I can't believe how many people are atwitter about the Obama innaguration speech. I wasn't planning on watching it because I assumed it would be nothing more that a gernic stew of "hope", "change" and other non-specific bullshit designed to make Liberals weep with joy.
