The girl was completely out of control before this video, jumping, hitting, screaming etc. Cops couldn't just let her go, so after half a night troubles they secured her - quite effectively. I see no problem in that, mostly because it obviously forces her to calm down.

the police had no right to confine her when they already made the decision she was no longer "drunk" and removed her initially from the drunk tank. read the news story on it. after she was "sober" they tried taking her home and no one was there so they took her back and instead of sitting her in an office or cafeteria or something they put her back in a cell. there was no lawful reason for her to be confined to a cell AGAIN.

In the 80s a guy I know was picked up drunk for knocking over a mailbox, they threw him in the drunk tank, stripped him, searched him then left him to sober up for somewhere between 8-10 hours in an unheated cell in the Winter time.

The girl was completely out of control before this video, jumping, hitting, screaming etc. Cops couldn't just let her go, so after half a night troubles they secured her - quite effectively. I see no problem in that, mostly because it obviously forces her to calm down.
4 hours however is long. Seeing her "surrender", they should have given her a chance after half an hour or so: either you behave or you're gonna be cuffed again. The "medical restraints' are now under fire in my country, btw..

I am with you - but not all the way. Yes, cops ran out of options, yes, she was out of control and yes, I too think that teens should also learn their lessons. And often it are the harsh lessons that will change their behaviour.
However, Qujo00 has a point: she still WAS a kid, hence the expression "kid gloves". And handcuffs are really uncomfortable, espacially whithout protection of clothing. An hour or so would have made the point

As hard as it may sound, her unability to move around is exactly what makes her surrender and calm down. You can see her still arguing when she is allready pinned down, it is the restraint that takes the fight out of her.
All restraints are humiliating, and as said before, nobody but the few policeman saw her like this - untill the family wanted publicity. And the alternative were her banging around in the cell or leaving her on the streets like her "friends" did before

For those that commented on how the police would have reacted if it was their daughter? Have seen cute little girls like her (allthough in the other vid she sure seems a spoiled brat to me!) demolishing my emergency room when they were intoxicated. Must admit her restraint is creative and effective: she can't reach her tied legs, can't get her hands in front of her. She can only sit and ly down and it obviously makes her resign in her fate and calm down. No serious harm done, perhaps a lesson learned. It only becomes humiliating now the whole world can see her like this.

After my first outrage came second thoughts: the police couldn't bring her home, nor contact her parents, she resisted when taken into custody.
Police couldn't leave a half-drunk teen on her own on the streets now could they?
The way they left her prevented her from banging around in the (padded) cell and forced her to calm down.

the police had no right to confine her when they already made the decision she was no longer "drunk" and removed her initially from the drunk tank. read the news story on it. after she was "sober" they tried taking her home and no one was there so they took her back and instead of sitting her in an office or cafeteria or something they put her back in a cell. there was no lawful reason for her to be confined to a cell AGAIN.

I must disagree, because I read the news story on it. They couldn't leave her on her own in the middle of the night (like her "friends" did) A cafetaria of office? She raised hell in the police car and cell according to the news, refused to get out the car, didn't want to stay at the police station. Some hours in a padded cell is less harmfull than a half druk teen on her own on the street. Imagine her getting lost, falling asleep in the cold, or found by some pervert!

I doubt Willow was innocent. In fact, this event maybe taught her a serious lesson.
That said, after seeing the video several times, I fail to see how Willow assaulted the custody matron.
I also see little reason to leave someone restrained like that for over four hours. That has got to be dangerous, particularly to someone who is drunk!
I think the police should pay and they should do the same to each of the police officrs, starting with the matron for at least four hours.

2. This video took place AFTER she was taken into custody. You don't know how she was behaving beforehand.
3. Where were her parents or friends? She was alone when they took her in.

The last time I checked the Police do not have the authority or mandate to pass judgement or "teach" anyone a lesson. In this case it is all up for the judge to decide whether guilty or not guilty for excessive force and abuse. I was with my cousins husband once and we were in a hurry to get to the hospital because my cousin was in labor and we got stoped by a policemen and it was one that I knew so Jason(my cousins husband) let me tell him what was going on and he understood and let us go without a ticket.

In the 80s a guy I know was picked up drunk for knocking over a mailbox, they threw him in the drunk tank, stripped him, searched him then left him to sober up for somewhere between 8-10 hours in an unheated cell in the Winter time.

If a cop put out a report 2 say she was banging cows you people would prob. believe it "she was endangering farm animals" ....She was prob. drunk...cops took it too far....and now they are covering their buts with a BS story ! It obvious...it doesn't take 3 men to take down a drunk girl...it only takes me to take down 2 or 3 drunk guys...lol

This is my dear friend Willow. She was about 4 foot 9 and maybe 100 pounds when all this happened. ya shes a real fucking threat. I was with her that night before all this happened and im descusted at this.
