  • There just words :P for all you Jimmy carr haters

  • i think if i could be anyone in the world, i would be him

  • The best advice I heard is: "don't"

  • I love Jimmy Carr and I'd consider myself someone who takes ethics extremely seriously - I just happen to believe in total comedy (ie nothing should be out of bounds as long as it is funny)

  • Comment removed

  • He's a joker and has that biting sarcasm so it was nice to see him take the question seriously.

  • Ha I went to the stand in Glasgow Scotland, it was a great show but all I can say is don't sit down the fucking front! haha

  • @Wrecker649

While I agree on most points, it's rather odd that his humor is for people who LACK a moral compass. It's quite possible that it's funny because it's so extreme. It just means the way the joke was worded and the shock value of it (which is generally the heart of his "immoral" jokes) made me laugh.

I've always felt people either get disgusted or laugh at certain subjects. Not because it's a funny subject, just because that's their reaction to it.

  • What if you watch youtube videos of underground pub new comedy nights? I watch a bunch. Does that count?

  • Check that off my list.

  • Tim minchin didn't follow this advice, but look where HE is!!

  • @rubbishrider861 I love Tim Minchin to death, but his shows aren't really stand-up comedy; they're a fusion of rock music concert and cabaret. Of all his material his actual stand-up has always been the weakest/least consistent. Recently his stand-up has become stronger and, by Minchin's own admission, he owes this to seeing a lot more comedians and listening to their advice. So don't be so quick to dismiss what Carr has to say.

  • @PuppetsNStuff2 hmm, true I guess, it's Tim's shows as a whole rather than just the stand up bits on their own which are awesome... :\ but in addition to Jimmy Carr's advice, as displayed by Tim; Have a briliant and original act!

  • @rubbishrider861 I definitely agree that originality is a big part of Tim's initial success. What Jimmy is talking about here is the sort of thing that will ensure his longevity (which Tim clearly knows). I guess Jimmy's advice here is geared more at people who just want to get a foot in the door of a very competitive industry; once you've had got a few gigs under your belt then turn to Tim for advice on how to re-invent the wheel!

  • This was very useful information, but i think i'll do it myself.

so thats what the americans were thinking.

  • Dammit now I have to scroll through a whole year's worth of comments to find out who Wrecker649 was talking to...

  • @dwl82iw No you don't. Ctrl + F will bring up the search function.

  • i like how wrecker649's comment isnt actually aimed at anyone.

  • @edwardosp Yeah right, its just there for people to look at, realisticly.

  • I like how the apparently only Army guy who didn't like this joke was a commander. The leader is obviously going to think like that because he's paranoid that those he's leading will be demoralised. They clearly aren't, so I don't see his problem.

  • @ItsameAlex Jimmy is more edgy, play on words, one liners comedy. Frankie is more dark observational comedy. Their delivery is also polar opposite, which makes all the difference.

  • well I am already half way there! thanks Jimmy!

  • From what i have learned about stand-ups is that all comedians have their own persona they portray, Jimmy Carr in real life is a nice guy.. But his persona is dark comedy, He wrote a book called "The Naked Jape" which talks about jokes in all formats, and he covers the offencive side of it too

  • @TheFourSidesOfficial You're quite right about that. Whatever persona a comic adopts will be his "voice" so to speak. When I did standup I was an idiot, stumbling from one joke to another while describing my failures. People meeting me offstage seemed surprised that I wasn't that person at all. Jim Carr has a particular persona ideal for delivering his genre of humour. People saying that his offensive brand of humour is low-brow have no appreciation for the subtleties of his work.

  • This is why I respect Billy Connolly apart from finding him funny as shit...imagine standing on stage and a couple of 100 judgemental pricks looking at you like: " Allright...entertain us monkey boy. " Even with experience on stage most comedians rely on prewritten stuff...Connolly just walks up on stage and wings about 70% of the shit he sais and makes the whole room cry with laughter.

  • i try to play along with mock the week, obviously not on my own

  • Wow. That was... actual advice. I didn't see that one coming.

  • i dont fart naked

  • Many many people simply don't see the relationship between things see the wit! It takes a huge amounts of creative thinking to juggle stories and ideas to end up with 20 mins of good comedy.

Some of these new guys think saying cunt as a punch line automatically makes the joke funny! NOT SO

  • this guy is so bloody funny :P

  • jimmy carr is leg lol end off!!

  • @yourmum739

Well no shit, but if he went on camera and said "Ok here is my tip for being a funny comedian... be funny." he'd sound like a fucking moron.

  • no this isnt the case with comedy see u can develop being a gd comic but u cant develop being funny in the real worl see lot of comics are depressed and are not funny off screen. the saying among comics is u know if your gd once you have done 100 gigs.....jst thought i would clarifiy :)

  • @yourmum739 of corse you can develope your sence of humor its like a skill so yes you can

  • @TheJackinder Nah...I think you're born with it to some extent. Some people just don't get Irony and Sarcasm even if their life depended on it...especially nowadays...with the fucking pc generation...for some reason ppl take offense at jokes, which doesn't happen anywhere else...ppl don't get offended at riddles or poems for example which would make as much sense. you kind of have to have a strong drive to be a comedian, cause you're gonna catch a lot of shit...and that drive is genetic aswell

  • @yourmum739 in all honesty, this is advice for people that want to be stand-ups, so presumably they would already think they're pretty funny. i think the subtext of this is mainly, don't think you're going to be as good as the best straight away, look at the top, then slowly go to the bottom to see how people further along (than you) are doing, it might not be as easy as it looks straight away. also, you shouldn't have 'too many' negative votes. its only an opinion right?

  • I have just been told by a kretin on here that some of you dont read tabloid newspapers and dont need to be told what to think, I do read newspapers, some of you cant even read. This thing made jokes about our young men who are fighting abroad, lets get it right, if there was a war, they are the ones who will protect us, not people who think this cunt is funny. Jimmy Carr is by no stretch of the imagination a comedien, but he is a nasty cunt

  • Speaking as an ex-serviceman, I didn't give a toss about the joke either way. Squadies make criacs like that all the time. Jimmy Carr's humour has always been for people for whose tastes lack a moral compass- you either like it or hate it, but please spare me your counterfeit tabloid-induced outrage. Incidentally if you insist on accusing others of being ILLITERATE, you might care to find out how to spell it first, as you will only succeed in making yourself look stupid. You take care now.

  • @Wrecker649 a moral compass? calm down and look at a rainbow. Jimmy carr is ridiculously talented, morals don't come into humour, unless you believe in a God reviewing your every thought. Which in that case, your wrong about alot more then the moral issues of comedy

  • @newarchrk: He said "For people whose tastes lack a moral compass", not "For people who lack a moral compass."

  • @newarchrk What are you chuntering on about? That was my whole argument to begin with, seriously you cannot make this shit up! Why on Earth did you bring God into this?? Of course God can't read my thoughts, any fool can tell you that, what bothers me is him watching while I sit on the toilet....

  • @Wrecker649 My dad has is still in the army and has served for 28 years. His response.

    "Well he's fucking right."

  • @Wrecker649 trolololololololololol

  • @Wrecker649 what more annoyed me was how this society panders to the servicemen leaping to protect them like they're made of crystal and can't protect themselves that's why they made a huge deal about that joke, I love jimmy carr and find none of his jokes offensive because they're jokes! but even I can see he's told way more possibly offensive jokes than that one

  • @Wrecker649 Well, what the fuck does it matter you being an ex-serviceman?

  • @thetekwiz Hello mate. It was a post extracted from context of a heated discussion I had about a year ago with some other argumentative tool . Somehow it made the top comment which is obviously why it remains on the first page, whereas the rest of the posts are further back along the timeline.

Maybe at first glance that wasn't apparent to you or more probably you also possess the comprehension skills of a boiled potato?

  • @Wrecker649 you're my hero

  • @Wrecker649 You Sexist asshole!

  • @RagdollRalph Eat shit fucking sexist pig!

  • @RadekBoktor Que what!?

  • @RagdollRalph Opps sorry thought u were Wrecker649 sorry

  • @RadekBoktor Sorry to ask, but how is Wrecker a sexist?

and no problem by the way, people mix me up with sexists all the time, especially my wife (she doesn´t take the beatings well, but she´ll get use to it).

  • @RagdollRalph LOL THAT WAS FUNNY!!! If you look at the previus comment near the start he says the complete opposite of what he says here I just wanted to get his attention

  • @Wrecker649 *Jimmy Carr's humour has always been for people for whose tastes lack a moral compass*. No no, these people understand context. It has nothing to do with being moral. These are jokes, not actual events. Actually it's people like you who label it as immoral that are actually the immoral ones. Your moral compass must be out of order if it can't see the difference between a funny intention or a serious one.

  • @mrslovesit You don't so much speak the English language as you excrete it

  • How is he finished you idiots? He's one of the best, and his joke was pretty good, the squaddies laugh about it themselves, its just the media blowing it up... Youre all idiots... I feel sorry for you

  • fuck off all you knobs who don't think he's funny you clearly know fuck all about comedy

  • I never found this boring middle class wanker funny either. Him and Russell Brand are just fucking boring. We need more Peter Kays, David Michells and Frankie Boyles.

  • @angels77100

''frankie boules'' REALLY?? Jimmy Carr and Frankie Boyles comedy are essentially EXACTLY THE SAME.

  • @ItsameAlex No the're not! Frankie is so much darker!

  • it was only armless fun sad twats oh did i say arm less now theres a joke

  • What a fucking sad world we live in when a comedian gets strung up by the mainstream media for telling a joke, lol. He's such a clever, funny bloke, and I'm willing to stick my neck (arm, leg whatever) out and say this will only increase his popularity amongst people who are not Daily Mail reading, reactionary morons. Have a nice day!

  • Your lucky to have arms and legs

  • LOL, I am indeed lucky to have arms and legs! I'm also lucky enough to not have a job that involves fighting a fake war and murdering innocent people. To say Jimmy Carr is a nasty cunt is nor really true is it? Funny cunt, absolutely, but nasty cunt, I think not.

  • unclejnr- the thing about Msloveit, is that because of the abysmal spelling and text-speak, you think you are debating with an errant child, when in fact she is a 56 year old women. 'Rage of the underclass' -The Poor and under-educated always feel that their point of view is the consummate one, and will defend it with unremitting,Bolshie conviction, because;

    A) It was printed in the Sun newspaper, so therefore it must be right.

B)They are prepared to shout louder than anyone else.

  • Ha, very good.

The comments of mslovesit do indeed sound like the words of a reactionary moron, one that considers the sun to be a pragmatic source of news.

I can see her now; watching x-factor, 2 or 3 cats on the sofa (her 'babies'). Waiting for Sky News to tell her what to get upset about next.

  • lol great comeback!!

  • His career will be on Ebay this week, starting at 1p, no reserve

  • Hes finished, thank fuck for that, he wasnt even funny...

  • so you didn"t agree with the prophet mohammed cartoons, the muslims were right to be upset, as freedom of speech is freedom of speech, you can"t pick & choose!

  • F*ck off

Some of us don't read tabloid newspapers, and therefore are capable of forming our own opinions, without being told what to think.

    though,I suppose it's a women's peragotive to do what she's told..

  • he lost a bit of weight

  • mmm yes please
