Fantastic Job. We are in production for a fan film as well The project is going to be extreamly high class and high energy. We just lost our effects guy and are in need of sequences, Can you help?
Very beautiful render. I especially appreciate the fact that the Constitution doesn't seem to be just 'floating' in a general direction as the Enterprise itself seemed to do all too often in TOS. Too bad J.J. didn't have you on board for ST09.
On par with CBS DIgital and their interpretation for re-release of TOS.
Yes, the detailed interiors (even the open shuttlebay haha) were nice touches.
As far as being faithful to TOS, it's grand!
Of course the flares add a modern look to it, and if you're going 4 a modern interpretation in lieu of being 100% faithful, then a LITTLE more surface texture & specular would go a long way.
If some of the edges were just a BIT more rounded instead of being so sharp, it'd be excellent.
Lovely video. I would love to see some new Star Trek episodes, and with FX the quality this test footage provides.
By the way, Memory Alpha suggests that NCC-1700 never existed in the Star Trek universe as the U.S.S. Constitution, contrary to the Star Trek Encyclopedia and possible onscreen sources, such as the movies, which showed the Constitution class wireframe model in bridge graphics with NCC-1700 on the hull. If this ship wasn't the Constitution pathfinder, then what was it?
It actually looks really good I think, but my own take on VCP Optical Flares is, although great, tend to white-wash the comp too much. I usually turn the brightness down while turning the scale up. Looked really cool otherwise!
I have to see between alls the BS Renderings here at youtube you really did an ourtstanding job with this one. I specially liked the 3d Effekt that you get when you look at the whindows while the perspective changes. Not often that you can look inside of this old Ship

Are you parenting the Flares in AE or in C4D? Either way, what is the process?
sgtppr 9 months ago
@sgtppr: I used AFX. All the Flares are just hand animated with 2 Keyframes.

cool... i like that the windows seem to be "real" windows with a glimpse inside, not just a glowing texture...

Do you have any tests of the original enterprise?
CFSheeler 1 year ago

I like that old school deflector dish. I wish they would have used that on the new Enterprise instead of the one that glowed blue.

were the lens flares done in C4d also?

Oha.
