  • turbulence doesnt bother me but when theres bad weather it does storms etc

  • nice landing =)

  • thumbs up if you think the computer voice that says "30, 20, 10" sounds like Ray Romano

  • I am so happy that you survived the heavy turbulence.

  • so fake

  • dude you are so good at faking stuff u sre just moving ur camera

  • this is lame

  • Captain got that or is it using autoland?

  • @scoop2004 he landed it, at 0:006 u hear the autopilot disconnect alarm

  • This is moderate turbulence at best. As a former flight attendant I've been through severe turbulence. I was on a flight that got caught in a thunderstorm/hailstorm out of Tampa and the passengers were screaming so loud the pilots couldn't hear air traffic control in their headsets. I actually had bruising on my shoulders from being thrown against the straps of my jumpseat, that's how bad it was.

  • @vegas2990 And were you worried or did you just consider it to be an annoyance?

  • @KraftwithaK

Yeah, I was scared to death. And this was after seven years of working for the airline, so it's not like I was a newbie freaking out over something I'd never experienced before. We had a pilot from another airline riding in one of the extra flight attendant jumpseats and even he confessed that he wasn't sure we were going to make it, that's how bad it was. Upon landing the mechanics came out and found the plane had suffered structural damage as a result of the hail and turbulence.

  • @vegas2990 Damn, not the reply I was hoping for. Still, that sounds really extreme and probably rare. I hope...

  • @KraftwithaK

It is rare. The flight I mentioned was a once in a lifetime occurrence. I've had bumpy flights since then but nothing that extreme.

  • let me palpitate and release my breath and stress in the skiy.

  • törbelens is wen de plein scheiks.

  • Countryside looks awfully green for January in Zuerich.

  • that's somewhere between light and moderate turbulence at best. With severe turbulence you wouldn't have been able to hold your camera at all.

  • For all you non pilots, it 's called light chop. I've had worse taking a dump...

  • you don't fucking know what your talking about.

  • more like severe hand shake turbulance

  • Looks like a nicely controlled, safe landing, with a bit of sway and bump, to me.

  • estoy empezando a jugar mircrosoft flight simulator y no he logrado hacer un aterrizaje así! las aproximaciones son muy dificiles!

  • Yeah, I'm sorry to say most of my flights in an out of Nevada are bumpy like this. I had a extremely scary experience with turbulence when we suddenly dropped in a storm, my flight attended fell on the floor and everyone on the flight shouted out with fright. It was bumpy like this the entire flight until we hit something that made us fall hard! I nearly crapped myself then. I'm sure I wasn't alone!

  • Umm.... he was using Ailerons.... that's it... I didn't see any rudder...

  • That's not severe, man! It's not even moderate!

  • "Hey stewardess? The plain made me spill my beer, I want a free one."

  • Light-Mod turn IMO.

  • NOT severe in any way. I'd say that is more like light. I was just flying in moderate tonight and that's WAY more then in the video even with the zoom.

My dad said he's had a flight back when he was the co-pilot on a 727 and flying into Denver. He said it was so bad the captain said "you have the throttle and I have the controls" he also said you literally could not read the instruments at all.

  • what plane is this?

  • @jm431 Fokker100

  • @jm431 this is a fokker100

  • IMHO Severe use of zoom, a little Parkinson on the camera.... Nice video though!

  • Definitely no severe turbulence.

With almost 10 years experience in the F170i have only encountered severe turbulence once and with that it was impossible to even grab switches. So judging by the film and by the co-pilots steering it was probably mildly gusty.

  • Rudder? What rudder? All I saw was that yoke thingy that controls the ailerons.

  • perfectly normal approach

  • That would be the aileron. Rudder's on the floor, boss.

  • the turbulence was in the camera!!!

  • Only interesting turbulence.

  • funy how you start watching these before you get on 3 flights across the globe ;)

  • Normal day in the office to me.

  • what type aircraft

  • That is a classic case of turbulence in your phone

  • Severe Turbulence: large, abrupt changes in altitude/attitude, large variations in airspeed, aircraft may be momentarily out of control. Occupants are forced violently against straps, unsecured objects disappear, walking is impossible.

IMO This looks more like a stabilized approach to me. Extreme control movements are when the control hits the stops and you still need more....

  • @Bobthepilotguy yep happened to me on my previous flight. my pen flew to the ceiling and was never found again, controls fully to the left and... Ah damn it I need more, so a tad of rudder to the left and finally got it back level. damn you wind-shear.

  • @Bobthepilotguy well said, besides its Zurich they get lots of crosswind, and we all now crosswind are cool! :)

  • What you see is the Aileron-movement. Rudder is controlled by feet-pedals!

  • maybe i'm crazy but I loooove turbulence ;)

  • nice landing.

  • im at amsterdamint and about to get onto a plane to land a zurich lol.

  • Let me help you understand Turbulence: Level 1 - Your coffee cup has ripples in it. Level 2 - It's hard to hold a book steady. Level 3 - You can feel some strain the seatbelt. Level 4 - The Flight Attendants are sitting down. Level 5 - The storage compartments doors open. Level 6 - Uncontrollable head movement. Level 7 - Your seat creaks and the plane makes odd noises. Level 8 - Shit is rolling around on the floor or airborne. Level 9 - People injured. Level 10 - Aircraft Damage. Seen 'em all
  • Lots of yoke movement.

But any landing you walk away from is a good landing........................

  • It's unlikely that the crew experienced turbulence at this altitude, and if it was as severe as the video shows then the landing would not be possible and TOGA would have been called.

I think it was camera trickery to convince stupid people.

  • @EinkOLED A terminal case of severe camera bounce .

  • looks (And sounds) like a Fokker 50 but the FMP looks odd to me.

  • if they were able to maintain glideslope, it wasnt severe

  • Chop chop, lil baby. If you cant take a lil bit of turbulance take the bus, then maybe you can get hit by a train...lol.

  • Not even a chop... hehehe... This is what i call, kite breeze... :)

  • That looks like a normal flight into McCarran airport in the summer when it's 120 degrees out.

  • severe eh? By definition that means uncontrollable. That is now where near severe. Oh Oh, severe camera shaking, got it.

  • i hate turbulence

  • What kind of plane is that?

  • @austinman1995 are your eyes fucked?

  • Good on the pilots. Good Flight

  • @soakthesoul He's a flight engineer that's why he said jumpseat

  • @austinman1995 Ummm no it's real

  • I dont want to sound to awesome but ive been through much worse. And yes, i peed a little when i did.

  • Comment removed

  • that's smooth landing... the turbulence that scares me is when it goes side to side and then i see sky and floor... everything slides everywhere... that's really scary

  • How did you film that, are you the co- pilot?

  • @streetsurfer133

He is sitting in the jump seat

  • @wampaku2 I know but how did he get the right to go in the cockpit?

  • @streetsurfer133

not sure about other countries, but in America if an airline pilot is going to work and commutes from LAX to JFK all he needs to do is either list for the jumpseat or just show up and fill out a form and ask the captain if he can catch a ride. It's free and a privilege all airline pilots enjoy. I have guys on the jumpseat all the time. Additionally the guy filming might be an IRO sitting in the jumpseat.

  • How in the world did you get to video a landing in the cockpit? By the way what kind of plane

  • @awesomemax100

He is sitting in the jump seat

  • Wow, nice video...thanks...

  • Turbulent landings are the best as there not just the same old boring landings

  • lol are you copilot

  • @DTEMstudios nobody can demonstrate turbulence in flight whilst holding the vid camera in their hands - it has to be mounted on the aircraft to demonstrate accurately the level of turbulence

  • @1iatbhitw2 Even that, never had the feeling of failling?? That's the turbulence and you cannot see it, you can only feel it, which is the worst feeling in the world in my opinion :P

  • @DTEMstudios more like first officer copilot sits on the right side.

  • @yoyoyoyoshua

    The FO is the "copilot"

  • How the hell is this at all noteworthy in terms of turbulence. Aircraft flying through tornado alley REGULARLY fly straight through tornadoeswithout any damage, and just for the record a tornado penetration is classified as MODERATE turbulence, this is just complete pants.

  • @davidneibig Your probably one of the biggest idiots I've ever come across on youtube and thats saying something because there's a shit load of them. No pilot in his right mind would ever attempt flying a plane through a tornado. The wind of a strong tornado would bring down any plane. Not to mention all the debris that the engines would suck in?? Are you really that stupid?

  • @MrCrazyfucker123 I don't know anything do I, I am an Aerospace Engineer and have read many books on piloting including @Unfriendly Skies' by Captain X in which he makes the point that occasionally an aircraft cannot avoid a tornado, Tornado penetration speeds vary between planes but are typically 250+ knots and if you look it up in the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organisation) literature the Thunderstorms in Tornado Alley and the tornados they spawn are almost always almost MODERATE!

  • @davidneibig Haha, what the fuck are you on about idiot? Im impressed of how you were able to pull that whole comment out of your ass... Why do you speak about things you have no knowledge of?

  • Its a Fokker 100. One of the nicest airplane to Fly

  • its an aileron yoke not a rudder

  • whats this plane?

  • @nemlou It looks like a 737-400, or something very close to that.

  • More like the camera man had the jitters

  • That was not SEVERE turbulence. That was Moderate chops at most.

  • one of the sever turbulence effects is the aircraft will be out of control for a while..we normally disengage A/P on final..

  • This looks like moderate turbulence to me.

  • @Anouke79 if you think about it thats from our view it probely was worse from there perspective

  • your stupid..the a/p did not come off, it was disengaged by the pf which is a normal procedure during landing with a vis like in the video...sever turb? yeah right..you abviously have never even experienced moderate turb.

  • @VvicsieE78, grow up and quit the immature language "your stupid". you're a moron, you retarded loser.

  • @meccaturbo i am going to quote Bart Simpson on this one: "Eat my shorts"!

  • @VvicsieE78, I'm going to quote Homer Simpson: "lick my bunghole"!

  • @meccaturbo

    Obvious troll is obvious.

  • this happened to me when I flew from barcelona to oporto.

    it sucks :x

  • must be an EXTREMELY good flight simulator then...this is real

  • @JustAnOrdinarySimmer I wish my fsk was this real lmao

  • Yeah Kiwi pilot, total misuse of (severe). In 10 years of flying I have only experienced two or three times continuous moderate to very occasional severe. Scared the poop out of me!

This is considered as continuous light chops.

  • looks like a rather pleasent landing with a bump or two. The term severe turbulence is thrown around on you tube alot, the fact is very few people have been through it, pilots included.

  • @kiwipilot84 You are correct. And for anyone on youtube who did experience real severe turbulence, its safe to say that the LAST thing they were thinking about was whipping out the old video camera.

  • Looks like the cameraman couldn't hold still. I was hoping for a few more seconds of the touchdown. It sounded smooth right at the end...

  • That was not "severe" turbulence. If it had been severe, your camera would have been flung through the flight deck. At 00:26 it's not rudder inputs (which are done with the feet) but ailerons, and the inputs are not extreme at all but quite normal. You clearly have no idea how an aircraft is controlled.

  • i wouldnt call that severe

  • yawn...

  • Noone would be holding up that camera if they encountered "severe" turbs....that´s a bit bumpy...

  • that wasn't the rudder, rudder is done with feet, that was aileron which controls the roll of the aircraft

  • Where is the severe turbulence??? Do you really know what a severe turbulence is?

  • @ropilot Seriously!! I didn't see any moments of loss of control. This is Moderate *maybe*, certainly no where near severe.

  • what plane is that???

  • difficult to stabilize the camera

turbulence will not make the earth shake

  • so...what was the severe thing here???

  • @SchwedenMatze You truly are a dumb fucker aren't you? Go watch cartoons....DICK

  • Comment removed

  • @jonomutiny, will do, but only if you sneak back to your sand box and shut up. if you're nice you'll get your shovel and bucket back

  • @SchwedenMatze And if your a very good boy, you'll get your blow up man and dildo back.

  • @jonomutiny LOL that's a good one, are you sure you don't need them any more?

  • anglxqtx- traveling is the safeist way to go and a lot faster and with all of the scerurity checks it is almost impossible to get in trouble and turbulence nothing more than going over speed bumbs on the road and it dont last for ever

  • you are right! thanks everyone for the support.... it is like therapy haha....

  • what plane is this?

  • @kd4pba

    a Fokker 100 (helvetic)

  • I am so scared of flying.... I am suppose to go to Costa Rica next summer for 6 weeks but the only thing holding me back is flying :( I fear of terrorism and bad weather conditions. UGH! :(

  • HAHAHA, flying is not bad, planes don't drop out of the air, there aerodynamic, if something where to happen they can glide down. And if your country has good flying regulations all the better, terrorism is not a problem. Now and days the terrorist cant even LIGHT the bomb's non the less detonate them ;) (Detroit incident on a Delta flight on New Years day)

  • hahah thank you!

  • @anglxqtx .when u inside the plane juz relax and juz think 'ok ok...the pilots know what they are doing..they shud hav master some methods..' i like flying in airplanes! theres 1 tym i fly wif tiger airways..so bumpy but it was FUN! :) juz relax

  • thank you! a little humor makes everything better

  • @anglxqtx np

  • Good luck on the fligh and have a great time on the flight. nothing will happen to your plane trust me. I dont think a terrorist wants to bomb a plane going to costa rica a]any way, there is no pride in blowing up costa rica.(they dont even have an army) good luck :)

  • I have the need for turbulence right now!

  • Moderate turbulence. I would be curled into a fetal position in my seat and staring outside at the window thinking "ok cool, we're close enoug to the ground where we can crash and I might still live" :P

  • @Anouke79 You wont live, you can crash while taxing in a jet and statistics show you wont live.

When a jet crashes 99% of the time everyone dies.

  • @2204Alpha

Sure is fun pulling stats out your ass :D

  • @2204Alpha Yeah I'd rather die that close to the ground, then spend 5 minutes plunging down from 36K feet. I think lots of people actually live in crashes....the chances of a crash are already pretty low and of those crashes there are ususally survivors. Gimmie a big ole plane so I can sit in the middle all curled up! =P

  • @Anouke79 Dude that is the same thought and feeling i have every time we land..hahah i hate flying but i wont let that stop me from traveling

  • @Anouke79 I feel the same way. When I start to see the groung I start to think were good if something goes wrong.

  • @Anouke79

LOL thats what i always say to myself haha

  • @Anouke79 Haha, awesome, good way of looking at it. I always think something along those lines too

  • @Anouke79 LMAO - That's what I do!!! I hate turbulence....

  • @Anouke79 Omg, I always think that too! "If we crash now, there's a chance we'll all live."

  • lol is severe lol just not as severe as i was going to toilet lol i stood up out of my seat wlked up the cabin BANG lol one box of food over the floor literally turbulence struck again as ii went into toilet banged my nose and it bled for ages and i had a really bad groin for rest of the week in nice trying to play tennis hurt a lot

  • I don't know much about flying outside of a class I took in high school in the early 80s but I love watching these cockpit videos. Great video.

  • Comment removed

  • I fucking hate turbulence. 3 years ago when I went in a flight from Oporto,Portugal to Milan,Italy I almost cried xD

  • Comment removed

  • The rubber? Is this a new FAA requirement? In case of CAT III landing, wear a rubber???

  • HAHAHA,,, I meant Rudder! That's what I get for typing too fast and not proofreading!

  • Nice landing. "Severe"? Naaahh.. Routine.

  • just a bit of of mechanic LLT if any.

  • like Grand Forks ND, that was a bumpy ass ride, ppl hit the ceiling,-

  • whats that sound at 0:06 auto-pilot diconnecting?

  • yes its just that

  • fokker 100?

  • this looks like the landing we had on a flight to LIT last week...effin pilot hit the runway after bobbing left and right and bouncing...he hit the runway like a rock...I seriously thought we were going to crash...he was hauling ass.

  • i wish ^^

  • what do you think

  • Can someone please explain turbulence to me? Is it wind or atmospheric pressure?

    Cheers.

  • It's "wind" as you would call it. It's basically a quite chaotic air-flow with hardly a clear streaming pattern.

  • Thanks. Can it bring a plane down? I guess a lot of pilots have radar and can avoid it? I used to love turbulence but now it frightens the life out of me :-(

  • Yes, close to the ground it can bring a plane down when it doesn't allow the pilot enough time or space (especially hight) to take corrective coutermeasures: the plane may simply get smacked to the ground. With respect to the structure of the aircraft turbulence is far less a problem: planes are designed to withstand the forces due to exposure to turbulence. Especially on larger planes you sometimes even see the wingtips flapping up and down during turbulence but that is not a problem at all.

  • Thanks for the knowledge. Cheers!

  • The only folks who have been in an a/c during real severe turbulence are no longer around to discuss it with us. A little sheer, a little chop...good for the soul.

  • Hahaha, yeah, its what makes flying fun!

  • if your a pilot i would never want you flying me anywhere...shouldnt you be concentrating on the landing instead of filming

  • Dude, come on. There were two pilots in control, this guy was un needed crew or a visitor

  • Are you a pilot?
