I agree with what you say and identify with it. Having spent years ministering to broken people. I agree that the church, as a whole, has not loved the broken and the hurting but done silly rules and judged instead. But I have to also ask what the word "love" means? I have in the past been very guilty of enabling people into brokenness, thinking I was loving them. Therefore I think about these things and ask how do we care for the broken without enabling them? So love in this song means?
This song was stuck in my head today, but I didn't know the title, singer, or lyrics. I spent all evening searching on 2 different Christian websites before I found it on YouTube. What a powerful song & message. Thank you for writing/singing songs that glorifies God and encourages people! :-)
Chris you made me cry, i am one of those that is broken and is ridiculed by people ... yes i seek for love.. real love and that is by Jesus Christ alone...i almost killed myself today but.. as i was hearing this song "one" i said to my self yes there is One that loves me more and that's the love of Christ. Thanks for the song Chris and God bless you more..-Wynn
It's hard, but at my church, Some girl's come in dress like they just got out of a night club with what there are wearing, of course a man is gonna lust! So she should have the sence God gave her NOT to come to church like that!! I have a nice body, But it for my husband to see NOT every Tom Dick and Harry at church. Just saying!
Sure we should dress modestly, but I'm allowed to wear pants...of course I wouldn't drink or smoke, it's wrong 'cause the Bible talks against it in Proverbs. of course being gay is wrong and other stuff 2, but some things like rejecting the brokenhearted is wrong. But gr8 song!
love this song and the spirit behind it. i could listen to it aaallllll day long - but i need to go exercise its message, lol! thanks Chris! my 2 year old sings this song too when he hears it--- its just so precious! love, lina
The Bible does say do not be conformed to this world... that means smoking, drinking, all that stuff. People need to keep themselves pure in the sight of God. But yes, I agree we all need to love each other more... Love does matter the most.
@fr33tobem3 Last I checked, the Bible is not against drinking. If it was, Jesus wouldn't have turned water to wine (John 4:46). The Bible is against drunkenness (Romans 13:13). Drinking in moderation is not sinful.
The "world" drinks water and enters buildings through doors. Are Christians to avoid those things too? Drunkenness is certainly to be avoided, but be careful about putting yokes on people that God has not placed there. Jesus had some hard things to say to those pharisees. Jesus did create wine from water. The "fruit of the vine" in the 1st century was alcohol, as was that used at Passover. Those struggling with alcoholism or those in their presence should not drink.
Chris, I love this song. Thanks for elaborating its meaning! God has blessed you tremendously with the gift of writing powerful meaningful lyrics. Keep up the good work!
