The only Cure album I REALLY don't care for is Wild Mood Swings. All the others I like in varying degrees, usually with the first 5-6 albums being my favorites. After The Top, Disintegration is the one I like most, followed by KMKMKM. Geez, I been a fan of this band since 1984. lol

I don't understand why The Top is such a maligned record. I think it's brilliant, and one of my favorites. I mean-Bananafishbones, Piggy In The Mirror, The Top, Wailing Wall, Empty World-how can a true Cure fan dislike those?

I agree. I think alot of Cure fans are kinda inlove with the "Goth" (damn i hate that word) side of The Cure, and they just dismiss The Top as it's so psychedelic and experimental. Personally, i love it. It's like nothing else. I actually like the stuff Smith put out in the mid 80's, when he was more or less alone. Top/Whispers and it's B-Sides. This was the worst time in Smiths life, and reading between the lines you can see it. There's some heavy stuff in there, but amazing music. =)

If you listen and watch, you'll see Lol's messing up a lot, while Porl, who'd just started learning at this time, is much better. Even though keyboards isn't his primary instrument in thet band, unlike Lol.

Lol could just barely play drums. He couldn't play keyboards at all, which is why there was always at least another keyboardist around with him. Robert just kept him on the pay roll until he got too messed up to even pretend anymore.
