The video is great, but the music is too loud and interferes with being able to hear what she's saying. Remixing the audio and lowering the instrumental track would be a marked improvement.
I have an old RH loom 50+years old. I found most of this Very Helpfull I don't have the gears on the outside of mine.could you do a demo for an older RH.?
@snowcatjoy Hi, it should be exactly the same process - it should not matter how old your loom is. If you wanted to double check email a photo attn: Kate to sales "at" ashford.co.nz and I will advise if any different. Thanks.
Hi - I've subscribed, this is fab! I am a *total* beginner, I can see how one would be able to do stripes and checks, but please can you explain how one might approach something a little more complicated like a houndstooth pattern on this type of loom, if it is even at all possible?
@loveleopardprint HI, to do your standard hounds tooth (in black and white for explanation purposes) warp as normal but do one slot black then one slot white continue across the width of your warp. When you are weaving you will need two shuttles - one white one black. Weave two rows black followed by two rows white. Repeat to end - note always wind the shuttle in use around the other colour at the end of rows. Happy weaving!!
This is the best video I've seen to explain direct warping and basic RH weaving techniques. No excess chatter or explanation, very clear views of the process, and excellent explanation of each step. I appreciated the concise hints about making an even selvedge, warp tension, and passing the shuttle through the shed close to the reed. Thank you! I wish I had found this video sooner.
Thank you so much for so clearly demonstrating the RH loom! Tried RH weaving many years ago before you-tube but couldn't get the hang of it... just received a 12" Knitters Loom for Christmas and am looking forward to getting started!!!
Wonderful tutorial, the best I've seen on youtube to date. Thank you so much for posting this. I'll be sharing it with my rigid heddle weaving group on facebook.
@rigidheddleweaving Thanks! It is great to hear such positive feedback. I love your suggestion for solo warping too, will add to our FAQ's. Happy weaving :-)
@wishwondersurprise1 Hi, the loom used in the video is the 16" loom. They are available in 16", 24", 32" and 48" wide. The 24" is the most popular size. Happy weaving!
@BHBsings Hi, the over and under at the back stick when you are warping is only to ensure each each is around the back stick - you will know if you do it wrong as the end will come out through the slot as you take it to the peg at the other end. With direct warping there is no need for a cross - the threads are already threaded in order through the reed. Hope this explains.

If you don't have a helper to hang on to the warps when beaming, tie weights to it and let it drag. Claw hammers are great for this.

Can you explain the under and over part around the front bar. I gather it gives you a cross but I don't yet understand why that's important
