@homegrowndave Hi Dave , yeah , did " Legend" on 1985 ,the soundtrack " Sorcerer" is excellent too, much harder and fucking good !!( here on youtube to find). For such questions go on wikipedia, just type T.Dream , theres a lot to find. LG homegrownRalph
They have also made music for movies like Near Dark starring Lance Henriksen (one of my fave actors) and others (cant remember any other on top of my head).
But do search here on utube for tangerine dream stratosfear and choose the one that says,
Tangerine Dream - Stratosfear from the same named album, released in 1976.
A quick wikipedia search came up with (as I couldnt remember myself)
Stratosfear is an electronic music album released in 1976 by the German group Tangerine Dream. It marks the beginning of the band's evolution away from their uncompromising early 1970s synthesizer experiments toward a recognizably more melodic sound, a trend they would pick up again in 1979's Force Majeure.
check out
wikipedia org slash wiki Slash Stratosfear for more info.
but this sounds like a "modern version". this is amazing but even though this version has like a better sound than the original i love the "organic" feel that the original has more than this one
If you love this music, you will probably like this guitar player I heard here on youtube ... just go to double you, double you, double you dot sound cloud dot com forward slash jeff underscore paxton ... and also at double you, double you, double you dot reverb nation dot com forward slash jeffpaxton ... check him out ... he says he loves Tangerine Dream ... Peace :-)
The song you hear in the beginning is the theme from the movie "Risky Business", also a track by Tangerine Dream. This version of Stratosfear is however NOT the original 1976 version, my best guess would be it's the 1994 "Tangents" version! Tangents was a 5-CD TD collection album with lots of re-recorded versions of old songs and some previously unreleased tracks.

Saw TD live back in very early 80's in Newcastle and Dusseldorf, still got the original vinyl copy of this somewhere, this does sound very different from the original as noted by others a lot brighter with different bright synths.
i just saw the movie "Tron- the Legacy". Musical influences from Tangerine Dream are all thoughout the soundtrack by Daft Punk. As the credits rolled and on the screen it said "Original music by Daft Punk", I felt I was a witness to a crime. It should have said " Tangerine Dream music by Daft Punk," Come on Daft Punk! Give credit where credit is due!
This is not the original, can anyone tell me what this is and where I can get it, thanks for posting, the Tangs promised of a new direction in music that sadly never happened.

@ravenmute34 I still have my vinyl copy of the Stratosfear album I bought around 30-32 years ago. I played this track over and over and over until I'd almost worn it out. I was at the concert in London when they recorded Logos Live - the only time I ever saw them live and I remember I just floated out of the door at the end of the gig. :D
THIS is MUCH better than the album version - with much respect to it - sounds quality, the production, the keyboard has a fuller richer tone - they performed live quite often - I am guesing this is a few years later live - where did you get this?????!!! THey were using ppretty complex sounds and from 75-78 for example makes a world of difference in the richenss of sounds of synths, and just as important recording and they could have recorded this livei in the late 79, sounds AMAZING
Is this a re-mixed version of Stratosphere? The tone of the synthesizer pattern is different than on the original album. Where did you find this alternate mix?
I can't believe that I've only now discovered these great Krautrock bands, from having to do a module on German Song Cultures. Sometimes you CAN enjoy those "gotta-make-up-those-credits" modules :D

The album Stratosfear was recorded in Aug. of 1976 at Audio Studios, Berlin. Vangelis' Spiral was recorded in 1977 at Nemo Studios, London. I have both albums on vinyl and just looked it up.
Sommermuzikfest,Juni 1975, Ste. GoarsHausen am Rhein; a trip into another parallel universe that ended up with a concert with TD and Pink Floyd at Wembley stadium in the UK, in late August...what a Summer!
This isn't the original version of this track - it's been 'Tangentised', not somethingI like on my TD music. :( Not one of my favourite tunes anyway, but I'd prefer it not to be tinkered with.
I heard this as a kid on the radio (a vignette for a program), and always found it fascinating and dreamy. In later years, I've been wondering what the name of the song/band could be. I even sent a mail to the radio station and asked them which vignette it could be, but without luck. Then I suddenly came over it here...! Great and artistically inspiring song.

8 yrs old in my dads jeep driving to a full moon nightdreaming for an hour on the highway... no words I type can describe the feeling of Energy I experienced.
Just know people that this music is being broadcasted out through the Galaxy at Light Speed! as we live out our blink of an eye lives... When we are long gone I am most certain if there are any Intelligent Beings who purposely or accidentally Tune into the music, T.D will be one of Humanity's true signs of Intelligence!

I have just noticed In 6:30 - 6;44 it sounds quite similar to Kraftwerk Trans Europe Express! Isn't that funny

4.18;close to Vangelis-Spiral. Who was first?

The album Stratosfear was recorded in Aug. of 1976 at Audio Studios, Berlin. Vangelis' Spiral was recorded in 1977 at Nemo Studios, London. I have both albums on vinyl and just looked it up.
