Isn't this the song that Deborah winger & another actress are cahnging their clothes to. during the opening scenes in the movie Officer and a gentleman,or was that treat me right?
She was so hot back in her prime and still is - such a classic song, so much ebergy, she is a tiny little thing, but I have always heard dynamite comes in small packages!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i hated the 80's. all you stupid kids who watch the breakfast club play pacman and think the 80's was a better time are fucking delusional. horrible time to grow up. totally mean and materialistic decade. girls got up at 5am to do their hair for 3 hours before school, no exaggeration! noses in the air everywhere you look. you're not a cool kid? prepare to get your ass kicked. got caught shopping at the salvation army? shunned.
@anthonyrg123 You're out of your mind if you think that bubble gum pop and hair band buttrock was better than Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, etc.
The 80's was the first decade that saw the return of payola to the radio stations, removing the ability to pick music based on merit and talent and replacing it with coldly calculated, corporate-engineered-for-mass-appeal MTV garbage. The 90's saw a brief return of raw, real talent and art in the music industry.
@jwallbanger As much as i love those bands and the 90s i disagree. The 80s had the best music period. Pop was actually good, rock was popular, not to mention some of the greatest metal bands and rock bands came out of that era who were highly skilled, more skilled then the grunge and alt rock bands of the 90s. Its true during the 90s music started to suck. I mean look at it now...complete garbage.
@frontierdriver To each their own. That bubble gum dogshit wasn't my thing. I did like a lot of less mainstream bands back then. But personally I think the 70's had the best music to date. And it's no coincidence that radio payola was successfully banned for that decade, before it was legitimized in the 80's.
@frontierdriver you're right, there was also that terrible hair band garbage - poison, ratt, skid row, cinderella, commercial crapola like that. is that what you mean? because if you're talking new wave or punk then you aren't in the mainstream anymore, and then any decade will be the best decade.
@jwallbanger You mentioned 'to each their own' yet you keep putting the music down. You realize you're in the minority when it comes to 80's music right? Some hair bands were garbage, yes, who tried to copy the big acts. Want proof that 80's rock is kick-ass? Go see the show Rock of Ages. If you don't feel the energy just from the music, then something is missing. Have seen grey-haired ladies banging their head during the show, and after. Maybe you're just pining for the days of disco...
@frontierdriver Do you mean I'm in the minority about thinking the 80's weren't the "best decade for music?" Because I know that's not true. Mainstream 80's music has many, many haters, and if you understand the history of radio payola and how it affected the popular music of each decade you'd see why bubble gum and hair metal ruled that decade.
Maybe you could tell me what artists you feel represent that decade so I can try to see where you're coming from.
@frontierdriver Oh, and "to each their own" means we all have the right to put down any music we hate. I think Def Leppard was dog shit. I think Madonna is a phony whore. I liked some of the new wave that charted, but the new wave that didn't chart was better. The 80's was a decade for extremely commercialized music and it stayed that way until they couldn't ignore the underground music scene that was so much more genuine, finally outselling their crap.
I went to this concert March1983 in Dallas! I was 16 and Patti B posters were all over my walls. Today my YT channel is devoted to her. I collect any rare footage I can so old fans like myself have a place to go to and relive memories or see footage that was taped in other countries we didn't have access to, pre MTV stuff, and for younger fans a place to see her body of work so you don't miss a thing!
@sharlaraye "Hell Is For Children" is about abused children; she still sings it at every show. She hates singing this one, lol, but does it because of the "fans"; (I can do w/out it); and makes the audience sing the part "before I put another notch in my lipstick case you better make sure you put me in my place"; she really hates that part.
@josh80s WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?! I MET HER, TALKED TO HER AND HEARD HER CONCERT AND MY HUSBAND AND I BOTH WERE BLOWN AWAY WITH HER CLASS, BEAUTY,CHARACTER AND TALENT! SHE IS AMAZING!!!!!! AND SPIDER WAS AWESOME TOO!!

Now Pat Benatar know that if he hit her with he's best shot Pat ass is gonna be laid out on the floor . She don't want his best so she should never ask for it from any Man. BUT I LOVE THIS SONG AND LOVE HER FOR IT
Max......the song was recorded in 1980. Check the album liner notes. In the Heat of the Night was recorded in June of 79. From there Pat toured and then came off the road in 1980 to record "Crimes" :)
I was just watching a heart vid,and someo..posted that ann was the best female singer ever..? now dont get me wrong cuz I love heart and ann, but I think Pat has a more powerful and prettier voice".?.and she can have a Mean Rock growl too" when called for.I vote for P.B as Best female Rock singer ever!

Back then we were starved for fem rock, NOT TODAY. There is a huge fem rock renaissance going on world wide. Many of you dont know the names: Tarja Turunen, Simone Simons, Charlotte Wessels ans Annette Olzon AND YOU NEED TO! Check out my TOTALLY FEM METAL CHANNEL and see this for yourself. There are 300 MAJOR fem rock/metal bands NOW. Nightwish, Delain, Epica, and Within Temptation are terrific. YOU GOTTA SEE THEM.I get 100% aggreement on Nightwish and Delain easily!
@kevingthompson14 I know who you're talking, being a huge "Femme metale" fan myself. Tarja is ex-Nightwish, Annette took over Tarja's place. Simone is from Epica. All amazing vocalists. Also, you should check out Leaves' Eyes. Liv Kristine is stunning.
@silverpilot1979 I had dinner with Liv last year! It freaked my 13yr old nephew out. I am a backstage manager at ProgPowerUSA and took my nephew. He wanted to see Leaves Eyes. I think he had a crush on Liv. SO....after their performance, I caught her and asked her would she work with me to do a surprise for him. 20 min later, she and her son had slipped into the dining room. I took my nephew in there and sat him down ACROSS TABLE FROM HER. I said, there she is. He was STUNNED. It was great.
"Hit Me. . ." was the second single released from "Crimes of Passion," not the first. The first single was "You Better Run" which peaked at only 42. They hit it big with the second single. :)
2011 and I’m still hitting replay on this song! I LOVE PAT BENETAR! DAMN she can sing her booty off! Her strength, beauty, and kick ass attitude has been such a huge inspiration to me being a female singer! She has paved the way for female rock singer! I am in a pop/punk band called HEY YOU. If any of you PB fans would like to give it a try, we just put up a new video, and would love it if you would let us know what you think.... = )
@tjxkid I loved how VEVO said it was the official video; yet there was no video of this song played on MTV; it's just from the Live From New Haven concert.
I have always been a fan of fem rockers. Patty Smythe was a big hit with me too.Today, abroad, the fem rock/metal craze has taken off. I was doing a Fem Rock/mMetal playlist and it ended up in 4 parts, over 70 bands and almost 400 videos. And that didnt get them all. If you like fem rock, check it out on my TOTALLY MUSIC/ARTIST CHANNEL. This channel effort was made to educate people about all rock genres and to support bands themselves.
