@AndrewDangerously Haha Andrew there wasn't room to roll or I definitely would have! It's in downtown Denver Sakura Square.. although I feel like the next person to jump it might just go right through hahaha
Awesome gap jump at 2:08 but landing could be better? And i was hoping to see more parkour than flips since it's a parkour sampler. Don't wanna get into any debate... just saying =)
@elgato49 Ya I agree, did it once and wasn't expecting as much impact. haha for sure, I agree with the parkour thing, working on a new one and planning on having some longer connected runs :)
@pjpkfrusafl Haha that was a 180 but thanks :) Yeah I am close, I have them on the minitramp to springfloor, tried a couple on grass last week and am somewhat close!
@xianletraceur It's Paris if you don't now my name im the one how was practicing tac side flips off the blue thing when you first tried the 360 front, ive been away the summer in a Australia and went on a 4 week road trip so i'm out of shape, i'm just starting to train again to day and am going to start up the new class next week.
See, this is why Newcomers shouldnt play David Belle. If you had, lets say 7-10 Years of training, you would have both the skill and the mentality to land the last jump precisely close enough to the edge to have enough room for a little roll. But you dont. You jump wayyyy too far (wich you might call "security" but its in fact, insecurity) and you fuck your knees in the ass with that landing.
WHY? Your vid was good apart from some mid-foot-landings. But the end totally screwed it. Why?
@xianletraceur that is a good answer, but then you will surely understand that if you WANT to fuck up your knees and risk your bodies health just for some cool jump, this will lead to people who watch you get negative impression about your character and your understanding of responsibility (since you represent APEX and colorado-parkour with this video, so this also affects them and how people perceive their responsibility and training). Did you think about that? ;)
@kalteis77 Hey man, definitely a good point. Videos say a lot more than someone can intend them to. There's a difference between doing one jump, and throwing yourself off of every huge drop you see. So thank you for posting on this. Now that I think about it, maybe people edit out those kind of things for a reason. It was something I'd thought about, but I figured I wasn't going to hide the kind of effects a jump like this can have on you, but that message might be lost to the intended audience.
@kalteis77 You act as if no one is allowed to make mistakes. I can guarantee you David Belle made more mistake than anyone else, since he was the one who had to learn all this first. That jump can in fact be done without a roll and still be done correctly. He did land a little horribly, but you haven't seen the jump and can't say that he is playing David Belle with it.
@Jus7incopk oh boy, why is it that evertime you critisize, the guy himself responds maturely and smart, but some dumb teammate has to apear and go all defensive.
i dont act like nothing, you are stupid. cant you read? sure my english isnt perfect but its not that misleading either. i never said no one is allowed whatever. i highlighted that he made a mistake, he said "good point" and that he will think about it, its all cool and over, so why do you have to turn up now and act stupid. go home
@kalteis77 Really I don't think you know what mature is if you thought i was being defensive and i think you could have come up with some a little more clever then go home. I think you just can't handle people saying your wrong in any way. You could have been more mature about bring up the fact the could should have rolled. You didn't need to insult that guy before giving advise. Thats not how the parkour community should act towards each other.
@rabrab23 Actually, I'm not much of a tricker, I've only been getting confident with flips within the past year or so. I agree I could be quicker. I don't think monkey walks at this point would help much with that, but I do agree I could spend more time with bars and rails. :)
I agree with the landing comment so don't disregard it completely please :P I also don't approve of the giant drop, but that's your choice, I just think it's that kind of activity that has given people a negative view of parkour. Keep an open mind to the critics and use what they say as fuel for improvement . :)
@SedgewickNYPK Thanks, it's interesting to hear people say that so I'm trying to notice now if I'm doing that more often than not. I never hear anyone tell me that about my landings in person, so it's definitely interesting to see it from a different perspective. As for the jumps, people are always going to have their own opinions about it. The Manpower Gap is much bigger, and way more people have seen that than will ever see this. Thanks though! :)
Awesome video with some slick moves. I would suggest a disclaimer on the description saying that COPK doesn't endorse high jumps or something. Just in case.
try to improve your landings very much. you very often land on the middle of your feet instead of the ball of it, like for example: 0:33, 0:47, 1:01, 1:10, 1:12, 1:13 etc. etc.
@TobiPK thanks for the concern, but i think it might be the camera angles or something. no one's perfect but i definitely have spent a lot of time working on landing form, and i think that i'm not doing that as much as you're pointing out :) i appreciate it though
@xianletraceur Very cool video, I love the slow mo. The only landing I didn't like was one on the big jump. Please roll!!! Watching that made my knees hurt, lol. I'm not trying to be a dick (I definitely couldn't do most of that stuff), but I have bad knees so I feel obligated to share my thoughts on that. I am gonna subscribe now.
@giofreerun It's my place to make the decision whether or not I'm prepared for such a jump. I'm capable of choosing whether or not to do it, and me choosing that isn't 'stupid' or 'dumb'. It's my decision. There's a difference between that and taking unnecessary drops as part of your training. I know the risks and consequences of a drop like that, and how capable my body is of it. Agree or disagree, but let's leave the negativity out of it, this could have been worded as constructive criticism.
@giofreerun So you must be pretty close to David Belle to be able to judge whether he could or couldn't take this drop right? Also, the drop is 25 feet max. Enough to MAYBE make your ankles a little sore. When its a one time deal, I think it's okay. So quit being a douche and focus on your own training and your own limits. COPK know exactly what they are doing.
u can jump wayy higher doing flips if u improve ur blocking technique. at 1:48 u just spin/rotate... maybe its the way u wanted it, but i ... just want to help :P
@felixartofmovement I agree, that I could've gotten higher on some of them, particularly the same-level kong to precision. However the one you were referring to, I specifically wanted to do that way :)
I really like the tac to flip to roll @ 1:17, very fluid, great work :) Was some of this shot in Golden? I'm going there for school in a few weeks, can't wait!!
