  • with the victory & Excalibur earth finally had two ships that could put up a real fight ..the old ships were a joke they didn't even have artificial gravity

  • Chicken Invaders

  • Call to arms !

Powerfull vid and Babylon 5 is best Scifi there is.

  • 0:10 -0:15 sounds like UEF Theme from supreme commander

  • Respect to the uploader for knowing B5 music stylistic features. I caught myself believing this was the actual music from the movie, fit so well.

  • @SkyLynx4

it sounds familiar! im sure i know it!

    supreme commander?

  • @nickwhitakerftw Yes its from Supreme Commander. First part is Build Music (Bonus Sketch) and 2nd is Risk, Relief and Victory

  • Not for nothin but it should be IAS Victory and IAS Excalibur.

  • I bet they're like "Oh god, here he comes again. Get the repair crews on standby" every time Sheridan shows up to some place like this.

  • Umm, instead of destroying a valuable asset, couldn't Sheridan just ask the dockmaster to release the clamps?

  • @Jalfmar3 No, he was steeling it, hence the shooting

  • @vreetech Heh, silly of me, I had forgotten that litlle fact. Been awhile.

  • @Jalfmar3 NEED TO GO FAST AND ASKING TO SLOW

  • @Jalfmar3 if you watch the movie (drake i think his name is) didnt like it and you need to watch the whole thing to get iy

  • Oh B5 ..definitely on my list of the best shows i have ever seen.

its a shame that the franchise more or less ended with Crusade but with all respect for B5, Crusade deserved to be trashed while B5 got better and better over time Crusade got worse with each episode. Ok to be fair, i just watched crusade to that "i forgive you" episode, after that my brain was about to melt so i stopped it, i wanted a developing background story and developing chars like at B5, not this bs..

  • dont like the ship design reminds me of flying dicks.

    I stick to the Warlock.

  • the only thing that could stop a ship from Babylon 5 would be The Sisko.

  • I wish someone would make an epic space battle movie with Jeremy Soule doing the soundtrack.

  • J. Michael Straczynski is on board with the Shattered Union film, if you know anything about the existing plot you know it to be groundbreaking and in the hands of JMS i am sure it will be absolutely brilliant.

  • Makes me want to play Supreme Commander

  • Frankly one of the things I always loved about B5 was it felt much more believable than most sci fi at the time. I watch the show and aside from a few things like telepaths I cant help thinking 'theres nothing there that might not actually happen in 200 years!' Star Trek I look at and as much as I love it, I cant help thinking that level of tecnology is at LEAST a milenia away if at all possible!

  • @locutus9956 I agree, though there has been a fair amount of research to suuport Psionics (AKA Telepathy). B5 just "Turned it up to 11" to make their Telepaths better for fiction purposes.

  • @trumbachd1 well I'm somewhat scepitcal about any of that myself but I can accept a some stuff like that as beyond our current scientific understanding (same as with the tech levels of the Minbari, Vorlons etc). IE it COULD happen for all we know. B5 is just a more believable future than Star Trek (though DS9 is still my favourite sci fi show ever)

  • Sorry for so many posts. There ARE other stories that do go with Star Trek, but isnt much screen time to see. I'm referring to many works of Larry Niven.. best known for the Ringworld novels. Most of his stories are in "Known Space" universe and characters and species from Known Space appear in many well known shows and games like Star Trek, Outer Limits etc. Most are the Kzin but often go by other names. Usually Niven did the writing in such episodes. He has a sector in Star Trek star map.

  • I see i left out a few words in the old post and perhaps made it unclear about comparison of B5 and Star Trek. I don't see how anyone can make direct comparisons of abilities of the ships when they are from 2 different fictional universes. I like B5 and all the Star Trek shows and movies except DS9 and not crazy about "Enterprise" though some of the later season shows i think were good, but i don't mix different universes unless the story is a multiverse. I like multiverse stuff. I read a LOT

  • *we are still locked into spacedock*

    *rolls eyes* BZZZT!!!

    *Problem solved*

  • SORRY- fail- The VIctory class was a Lawn Dart.....A LAWN DART!!!!!!!

  • pretty bad fake touchscreen

  • ST and B5 are from two different Universes, so just because TNG takes place in the 24th century doesnt mean shit ok, Even we now have capabilities that people in star trek dont have. Hey howa bout Star Trek VS. HALO? tHE UNSC SHIPS and orbital stations COULD FIRE hundred to thousand ton tungsten slugs at fractions of lightspeed. Can your Deflecter stop that p.s the Super MaC orbital gun AkA : oh shit what the FUCK IS THAT, could dish out early Teraton range equivalent kenetic energy.

  • lol, the console is made of cheapo plastic and bends

  • Even tho the shipyard was destroyed in ACTA, I always wondered if the IA ever got around to makeing more of these vessels...

  • There is spin of called crusade or something like that

  • ya but it didn't even run for the full seson i think

  • Victory Class warships+ Supreme Commander soundtrack= awesome vid! 5 stars!

  • It looks uber slow and ungainly compared to the pretty dance Shadow battlecrabs can do (with a proper buffer of fighters, etc).

  • Hello Folks, This is AWESOME, i used to be a big fan of B5 and was saddened when it came to an end! Could some one tell me if there have been any movies or over spin off series from B5.

    Cheers for any help

  • Tony Todd is awesome. He's really under used in tv and film.

  • Music courtesy of Jeremy Soule.

    AWESOME!!

  • Cos the actual music in CtA sucked balls.

  • @Foebane72 Agreed, it was like clanging gongs and metal spoons in a bucket rolling down the stairs, most annoying music ever it made the show that much worse.

  • the victory class is like a big gun !

  • after seeing this with regular music it makes me wonder maybe that new composer really was a big part of the reason that crusade failed

the new FX looked great for its time, the jump gates still look better than any other hyperspace effects i've ever seen

  • Crusade failed, 'cause their boss in TV company was an asshole, he "knew" what fans "wanted".

  • sounds somewhat like what happened to star trek.

  • @d3p3ch3mod3

(wow i posted late to this but crusade was canceld cuz tnt said it diddent have enough violence

  • that ship has a sweet main gun.......

  • whats with the supreme commander music?

  • I've figured that later on...I must've been utterly tired back there...

  • They are awesome.

My all time were the Shadow-boosted "Advanced Destroyers." Those boys were BAAAAAAD.

  • Same here, I feel so sad that I sometimes used to think about those boosted destroyers on my way to school. The "Omega-X" destroyers were so sweet, so was the battle with them.

  • They were bad ass, but of course would get raped by the Victory Class destroyers.

  • victory class would take em all out once they got the vorlon tech in season 3 or whenever

  • what about the warlock class warships ?

  • warlock was my favorite human ship... whitestars and shadow vessels are also kick ass but i think they were going to make victory class the most powerful ship of the new races by far once they went to vorlon or whatever they were going to do

  • Made by the Earth Alliance.....it's main gun(the long barrel) is designed to destroy a Sharlin Class ship in 1 shot, made by the Minbari, and one of the more powerfull ships in the B5 universe, more powerfull then an Omega Class destroyer...

  • Jeremy soule music. Nice.

  • "problem solved"

  • @Molari You have to hand it to the Babylon 5 universe. Sheridan just shoots his way out of space dock! The boldest thing Kirk did in this situation was go 1/4 impulse (when you're only supposed to use thrusters...).

  • @Steamrunner92 gotta admit thats very true, very few people have enough balls to shoot your way out of the dock that was clever.

  • @Steamrunner92 Yes that was awesome you dont see that anymore!

  • ummm my point was that the physics of the universes of the 2 shows isn't really compatible. It's like comparing apples and oranges.. or tea and Mountain Dew or.. oh.. well, Dew IS better.

  • I don't see why you people bother with a comparison of abilities of ships between the Babylon universe and Star Trek. Babylon 5 at least attempts to create a believable physics universe where Star Trek doesn't even worry about obvious visuals such as space ships flying as if they are aircraft in atmosphere.. as almost all so called "science fiction" does on the screen. ...I think 2001 had the most realistic screen physics.

  • @Vexina the difference betqween star trek and Babylon 5 also is that JMS (Babylon 5) was offered more money later on for better graphics but turned it down, whereas star trek lives only for money and throws it away just for effects that draw in more crowds.

Personally, I choose Babylon 5 any day.

  • Comment removed

  • @Vexina You hear of Albercurrie? Warp drive is actually a possible solution of Einstein's Relativistic Physics. I loved Babylon 5 because the characters and story lines were better.

  • @shredjoe1

At first i was very disappointed in B5 because i thought the acting was poor, i stopped watching it the first season. I saw later it wasn't the acting that was all to blame. Most non-spaceship scenes seemed to be talking heads. They would talk, go some place else for seemingly no reason and talk again. Later episodes found them more stuff to do. Anyway, what i eventually did get hooked on was how the show was like a novel series.. with later parts linking back to earlier ones.

  • @Vexina Yeah that's what I liked as well; the long term story arc. B5 was more plot and character driven than anything else at the time. I put the difference in scenes down to budget, CGI must have been such a large cost proportion at the time because of computer time.

  • @shredjoe1

Actually, B5 was about the first series to use the NewTek Video Toaster (and LightWave which came with it) with the Amiga.. which is why i was so excited to see B5. At the time, the Amiga and 3D modeling and animation was my life and it didn't hurt that NewTek also came to our computer club while in Atlanta for the Broadcaster's show at the convention center. Which is to say, starting with B5, CGI made a huge cost drop, which is why so many cool ships. CGI rather than models.

  • @Vexina actualy in Wrath of Khan, you will see the Enterprise "vertical" compared to the other ship "horizontal" so you are wrong.

  • @Tetragrammaton22

so what does Enterprise being "vertical" compared to other ship have to do with anything i said?

If you mean about me saying MOST "science fiction" on screen has spaceships flying as if they are aircraft... fighter jets can go vertical, but that is besides the point. As i said, MOST shows have spaceships flying "banking" on turns as if in air and while i'm not sure the Enterprise has done that in every scene, it sure did it a lot through the years. But I still like Star Trek

  • @Vexina all that said Trek DOES have better acting and production values overall but then it had a much MUCH higher budget and B5 has still get the best story of a sci fi series ever imo :)

I like many folks I know wrote it off as rubbish when I saw a few eps early on but went back and watched it all years later and found I had been very VERY wrong. B5s one of those shows you need to watch from start to finish to truly 'get' :)

  • @Vexina last thing ;) Sadly I suspect Crusade might have been a similar afair and could actually have turned out to be really interesting had it been given a chance to develop but it just was too slow off the mark and got canned :(

  • @locutus9956 Crusade was canned because the network was trying to interfere with the plot and characters. Even with the uniforms -- which was integrated into the show. When they tried to go too far, JMS ended it. He has a lot of integrity. Babylon 5 is one of the greatest shows of all time.

  • @Vexina wrong watch the original show and the original movies best one is Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan

ships are slow and act more like real starships and they have manovering thrusters. :D

  • BWAAAAAAAAAAAAM. porblem solved. I LOVE IT!!!

  • thanks .. i dl'ed the OST ..sweet music

  • Hihi whats the BGM playing in the background .. i didnt hear it from the movie .. can u plese tell me ^ _ <

  • The Last music that plays are from the Computer Game " Supreme Commander"

  • These fags as you call us know more about computers, networks and the internet than you do. Also, more money.

  • Go back to the locker room and stare and the jock wangs.

  • Actually a race called the Abbai in the Babylon 5 Universe pocess deflector shields and had at least since the dilgar war.

  • true, the main gun is not the most powerfull in the universe, but...it is still one of the top 30 power house guns in sci-fi.

  • No, it isn't. Go and look it up because he's right.

  • The SupCom score works nicely here.

I always disliked Sheridan's method of unlocking the docking clamps. Seems very silly to go and destroy them, especially when the episode mentions the desperate need for more V-Class Destroyers. Just release the clamps man!

  • Also very unrealistic. I guess Sheridan got a call later about the 10 dead workers who were unaware of the departure. Oh well.

  • Wow, the music really remdins me of Supreme Commander. And yes I suppose they are Supreme commanders indeed.

  • That soun is from SupCom, or ,and thats better, SupComs sound is from Babylo 5.

  • your videos pretty much put to rest my theory that the original call to arms score "wasn't THAT bad", or "the reason crusade sucked".. I STILL think it's good to listen to by itself, but it sucks as a score

  • Think of the Victory Class destroyers as Pocket Death Stars (aka Pocket Battleships in Earth Naval history).

  • [Continuation to my last post] You cant compare B5 with star trek, because the weapon's and shield's power are only relative to the ones in the series they come from, not relative to weapons and shields from other series. Got it?

  • Yeah, it's like when my friends have debates about how Goku from Dragonball Z would beat Superman... they're both similar super heroes but it's still like saying the american marines are better fighters than the spartans because they have grenade launchers

  • Omgosh, LOL. I knew I recognised that score. Go Jeremy Soule - Supreme Commander really is the best RTS out there - coupling that with the best Sci-Fi was just brilliant.

  • These ships, greatest Earth ships ever created in sci-fi.

  • i like this video, especially the musical score,

I wish something similar was used in A call to arms and Crusade, instead of the odd Evan Chen's score

  • ive never seen these clips ... i like the new side on profile of the jump-points ... i really should try and find this movie it looks awesome

  • The Victory class ships were the recipients of Vorlon weaponry and hull adaptation. Obviously, we would not have acquired such technologies for centuries, maybe even millenia. The energies required to operate such a weapon is far beyond anything we have even in the 23rd Century. Of course, to be fair, the Vorlons have been among the stars when Humanity's ancestor crawled out of the primordial ooze.

  • lend Capt. Sisko a cloaking device to use on the Defiant. When she was destroyed(this part I think is true; it has been several years since I have seen the episodes involving the Dominion War,) the Romulans lent another device to Starfleet. Starfleet began production of Defiant class warships, and one rolled of the assembly lines just in time to help Sisko and the others in their fight against the Dominion. This ship was officially renamed the Defiant.

  • and 2) Both the Defiant and Victory class ships were the beneficiaries of alien technologies that Earth would otherwise have never acquired, or at least wouldn't for millenia. Starfleet has prohibited R&D of cloaking devices. So the Romulans were gracious enough to

  • Vorlons ahead of Earth by millions of years. These ships weapons are like that of Species 8472 in that sense. These ships are massive, 3000 meters or so (Galaxy class 700 meters). Mimbari, 1000 years ahead of Earth (latest armor by them, 15 meters of armor, that deflects 80% of energy fire). Latest Vorlon weaponary. Main cannon: 1 shot kill against any ship.

  • Well, earthforce's very own warlock class destroyers can actualy match and surpass the firepower of the victory's by a formidable marging.

Each warlock brings 2 G.O.D particle cannons (the ones on the god sattelites, insta death too) to bear, and has an array of more conventional weapons, not to mention nuke missiles, several fighter wings and, yeah, shadow tech bio armor.

Oh, and no 1 minute energy dryness. EA ftw!

btw: Omegas are still the best ships of b5, because they look so.. Human.

  • The satalites are only instant death with a direct hit. Otherwise, probably just chop a piece off. If the Warlocks had been fully operational, I suspect they would be roughly equivelent to a Victory class. The main gun is stronger, being Vorlon based, however it has that annoying minute downtime, where the Warlock does not.

  • Starfleet didn't prohibit it; the treaty that ended the Romulan War did. And Starfleet ignored that and developed an even better cloak in secret.

Though it seems likely that they made a show of destroying their research after the Romulans found out about it.

N.B the Phasing Cloak is probably the ultimate weapon in Trek; imagine equipping a torpedo with one; the first the enemy knows about it is when their engine room explodes from the inside out.

  • How about transporting a breeched warp core at them? They never thought of that did they? Imagine in the middle of a battle and engineering says "we got a warp core breech" and the captain orders it transported into the borgs tv room. Two birds with one stone I say.

  • They maybe equivalent , but they are very different. Even Sovereign was heavily armed, but it was classified as an explorer type, not warship

  • That class warship is the Babylon 5 equivilant of The Sovereigon Class Starship from Star Trek.

  • I don't think so. As shinichi85 has already stated, while the Sovereign class ships were heavily armed, they were still classified exporer type ships. I think the Victory class warships are B5's equivalent of the Defiant class warships. There are two reasons why I say this: 1) As previously stated, the Sovereigns were explorer type ships,

  • Nope. It is like a Borg Cube with a massive gun. This ships is the greatest ever build by earth, 3000 meters. One hit from the main gun would destroy a Borg Cube, and very easily destroy any Fed starship. The weapons are more like that of species 8472. Keep in mind, the weapon tech given by the Vorlons, millions of years ahead of Earth. Armor, Mimbari, 1000+ years ahead of Earth.

  • BLABLABLABLABLABLA!! EVariation, you're such a geek, such a nerd, I cant believe it. If I invented a sci fi series with a ship that's as powerful as like the sun or stuff, than you'd probably say something like "OMFG, THAT'S SUCH A POWERFUL SHIP, NO ONE HAS EVER SEEN SOMETHING LIKE THAT BEFORE!!" or WHAT?!?

  • Congratulations, you managed to contradict yourself. If the Main gun is equal to an 8472 bioship's gun then a fed ship would survive it, as voyager survived a hit by an 8472 in Scorpion part 1, and after enhancement with borg tech, repeated hits in Scorpion part 2. Interestingly the only people in B5 with defense tech similar to Star Trek (ie Shields) are the Third Space aliens - who outgun everyone including vorlons.

  • Shadows, Vorlons, and most like other First Ones have hull-hugging shields. While Minbari ships and Victory Class Destroyers have energy weapon deflecting material on its hull.

  • I don't think one hit would kill a Borg cube. Well, not the pre First Contact ones. xD Fed ships probably not either, so long as their shields were up. Then that really depends on how fed shields compare to Vorlon ones. We can fairly assume Vorlon shields are strong enough to hold off at least several hits from their own weapons.

  • The Vorlons had living, adapting armor. Yes, 1hit would kill a Borg cube any era, with spare change. Keep in mind, Excalibur (3000 meters) is the LENGTH of a Borg cube. Main weapons output is the entire power output of the ship. You do not see any Star trek ships destroying warships with 1 hit, Victory class does and BEAM CONTINUES ON. RAW power.

  • You say the power output of the weapon is the entire power of the ship, which means that the ship takes a time to recharge, leaving it open to attack. While this weapon is powerful, it is not practical, in an intense fight if it used this weapon it would be defenseless to attack and i believe it wouldn't be able to hang long in a heavy battle. And also there is only one excalibur, the borg have 100,000s of cubes. Even if the excalibur destroyed one, it wouldn't matter.

  • Perhaps one hit from the excalibur might damage a borg cube, but not destroy it. Borg cubes have a very power electromagnetic field that deflects energy weapons. Also the excabilur is as big as the SMALLEST borg cube. The borg have tactical cubes that are 5000meters and Fusion cubes that are 20000meters. The vorlon, shadows reactive armor wouldn't last long under borg attack and borg can regenerate their shields and battle damage. The excalibur might get one shot before it's destroyed.

  • There is no doubt the Excalibur would own a Borg Cube. It would not need the main gun. 4 secondary beam weapons at the front of the ship destroys 3000 Drakh mothership, with '1 shot', regular Borg Cube is 3000 meters cube. That is not a discussion. However, Borg have millions of ships. Borg would win, Earth in Babylon 5, has about 1,000 warships, and only 1 Excalbur. Species 8472, remeber their armor? Vorlon and Shadow armor is leagues ahead. Vorlon and Shadow are millions of years old species.

  • Sorry guys but i dont think that the supreme commander music goes well with this, doesnt go well with the scale of what was being viewed, good music from a great game never the less. 4/5
