Being a laser guy... from a way back anyway, you need another axis if you want to get anything useful out of this. Typical scanners are paired X and Y, and your third channel would either be blanking, color mod, or some other effect from a lens or diffraction grating.
Still nice work hacking the drive, although I'm curious on your method of driving the stepper motor.
and a laser pointing to the mirror, but the radio is hooked up to the h-drive needle, thus turning the magnet into an elctro magnet, and as power increses and decreases(sorry for the spelling, im 16 and bad at spelling) it vibrates the needle against the disc, and also moving the mirror which the laser is pointing at, and thus making an oscillosope effect on the wall, or anyother surface you chose

kind of, ive made one myself, and this looks like the same way mine is set up, on mine, i have a mirror on the back end of the h-drive needle,
