Awhhhh, also. Poor tourist w/ deep pocket. Have anyone notice, it's like being on a cruise ship in a desert. Everything is FRIED. Appetizer burnt(zucci's), X-large platform of a dough, Beef stew (greasy starter) i guess, and finally the enchillatah! My greasy rez. face smothered w/ beans and government cheese.
navajo taco is original, its me, i'm navajo. . . white people say NAAAAAAvAHO! with their stupid way of sound in there vocal cord.. wrong.. . its dine taco
its not really called "fry-bread" ethier its called Bannic in my tribe. And all natives have this bread, not just navajo natives. Not that im pissed or anything, just some facts that i know about it. Its good with peanut butter :P
The cameron trading post is where this is at highway 89 about 30-40 miles north of flagstaff. I love that place and it's run by navajo. Everytime i go there there are a lot of germans wonder why
The Navajo TaCo looks interesting and quite simular to our Mohawk NDN Taco's wouldn't mind comparing them sometime. The cleavage I think is there to catch any drippings for sharing later...LOL
They might look similar and look alike but I am sure they taste different. Because I did try NDN Tacos in San Francisco/The Bay Area and Las Vegas Area at different Pow Wows ... they dont taste the same compare to Navajo Tacos...
I'd imagine there are many factor's that will change the flavours from one area to another, I know afew different folks on my Rez that make them and they all look similar but all taste different as well, none are Bad though just different! NDN Taco's or even Navajo Taco's are somethin I wish I could get more often!
haha i love how we first peoples fight over on youtube whos got the better taco and where it comes from..and bla bla bla..just eat the darn thing & thank your gookumz (grammas) .lol ...
Well the Navajo's kinda did come up with it bcuz when the white people came, the Navajo natives mixed the flour (whatever else they brought) with water, then they deep fried it in hot oil, and the rug weaving they also made by themselves.
Sorry but the Navajos did invent the frybread. The Spanish might have taught the Navajo silversmith and maybe weaving but the Navajo are now the best at both. People are not interested in buying Rugs and Jewelry that say "Made in Mexico".
what the fuck a navajo taco??! here we call it indian tacos nt only navajos make it u knw!! that fake frybread looked flat and nt greasy enough haha!!!
ishkijames should read up on some history before he spouts off about something he doesn't know. Mexicans are predominantly native with a small amount of spanish blood. True Spanish people are from europe and have red/brown hair and green eyes. Very few Mexicans display these characteristics. They have only been brainwashed into thinking they are hispanic, just as their WHITE conquerors desired! It's cool to see alot of Mexicans realize this. They know they are indigenous, and not white!!! READ!!
HighHeadJim, as a Mexicatl, I say: it's even cooler to see a lot of non-Mexica(ns) realize this. In 1906,my full-blood Yaqui grandmother's family fled Sonora, into U.S., to escape the genocide against their people. Upon setting foot in Arizona, they became "white" by law. Ayyy, que pendejos, los gringos!
My former high school teacher (who is from Spain) tried telling the Mexican kids this in class once. The kids threw the biggest fits OMG!!! They said and I quote, "I'M NOT A F**KING NAVAJO OR INDIAN!!" The teacher said they had Native blood in them and it wasn't necessarily Navajo. He talked about history and that they had dark skin and dark brown eyes which he then compaired to himself. Some still refused to listen. Whatever...ehh.
looks like i better head to navajo nation!...wait...r these made by real dine'?...cuz only a good ndn taco is made by ndns! and to the last comment bout it being mexican...hello! mexicans are indigenous too and all native cultures borrow from each other! it's just known more widely to whites as being mexican.
yeah, from zacatecas and slp states on south down to el salvador, the People are more accustomed to corn tacos, whilst northern mexico, n.mexico, texas and cali, the People tend to use wheat flour tacos more.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
what the hell does taoo have to do with an ndn taco? what? thats maxican bullshit.....thats mexian food.......friedbread came from mexicans.....know what I mean?......
You're a VERY IGNORANT person. It's obvious you didn't finish school much less college. Hmm...Native Americans were the first to make corn tortillas and share it with others. You should do a little researching. Check out the Anasazi Ruins and other Native ruins to see what artifacts were left behind. Hahahaha
Yes, your right. The natives were the tortilla inventors hence they made the first tacos. It's probably initially a south western thing. I mean N.America is where corn was first consumed; from succotash to corn mush, the natives were the masters of corn.
DAMN!!!! That is all kinds of fucking wrong, putting up videos of Dine' Tacos and frybread. I WANTS ME SOME FRYBEAD AND TACOS!!!!!! Grandma, hook me up....PLEASE!!!!!
I think you misunderstood this persons comment. What she said was a term we use in the hood when we say something is good.I guess your not hood enough to get it.lol
Anyways,the tacos do look delicious!
And Im sure she didnt mean any harm with her comment.
As well it is always to name call on the internet than it is in real life. Its funny how that works.
well if your in the PHX area there is a place on 7th ave called the Fry Bread House, and one on one on East Main St. in Mesa called the Arizona Native Frybread. try em both very good frybread.
It is in Arizona. We stopped there on the way back to Sedona from seeing the Grand Canyon. Umm, the restaurant is located inside a really big gift shop area that is run by a Navajo tribe?
Its called the Cameron Trading Post, about an hour North of Flagstaff - just past the turn of to the Grand Canyon South Rim. I work there and eat these often. It is starting to show... ;)
