  • Nice to see that it has a historical grain of truth at its heart!

  • scary ships..

  • The S.M.S. Friedrich Karl was sunk by a mine indeed on the Baltic seas, but only seven mariner died because of the slow sinking of the ship.

  • the movie itself is a standard movie of present time...

  • Looks like an elderly destroyer or torpedo boat. Their adversary is somewhat mysterious, could be almost between a small cruiser and a pre-dreadnought.

  • @vonSchmettern

Judging by the looks of the german ship and its history, I´d say its S.M.S. Friedrich Karl, an armored cruiser of the Prinz Adalbert class.

The russian ship is a destroyer. Since Kolchak is on board it should be the Pogranichnik (Okhotnik class).

  • HEY LOOK DADDY MORE HATEFUL PROPAGANDA AGAINST GERMANS!!!

  • What type of ship do the Russians have? A cruiser or a destroyer?

  • 1:18 isn't that an anti-aircraft gun ?

  • @Oesterreich1156 Nope. It's a quick firing 6 pounder naval gun, probably a Hotchkiss.

  • Nicely done, but of course a complete work of fiction. Although the Russian Navy did not fare all that badly in the first years of the war and the Germans suffered some losses, the incident in question looks pretty made up. Which kind of German cruiser is this supposed to be, for example?

  • @vonSchmettern This is not a work of fiction. It's highly dramatized however, but it's the sinking of the SMS Friedrich Karl, which sunk off Memal after striking sea mines, believed to have been placed by the Destroyer Pogranichnik, which was under Admiral Kolchak's personal command.

The Germans however only lost 7 sailors during the incident, because the ship sunk very slowly.

  • one piece :D

  • Looks great! I can't wait to see the movie!

  • what? is the smaller ship German, it looks russian, but the other ship that blew up at the end has a tsarist flag?

  • @asianbananacat, they shoot the scene from the Russsian ship. They are outgunned by the German warship (most likely a Heavy Cruiser or Battleship as compare with the Russian ship likely to be a Light Cruiser or Destroyer) so they try to get it to follow them into the Naval Mines field hoping that it hits one before they are hit even more or hit one mine themselves. Which is what happpens when the the German larger warship already damaged form the battle hits one and is lost.

  • Skoro ten film to biografia, to jak nazywała się ta bitwa morska?

  • Comment removed

  • another russian douche movie

  • fucking subtitles plz -_-

  • 9:51

The name of the ship "Сибирский стрелокъ" or "Sibirskiy strelok" or "Siberian shooter"

  • Damn, talk about the worse place to hit a mine, right where the gunpowder storage should be.

  • I guess the Germans didnt pray.

  • good movi

  • Ohhh my God!!!You do not know anything about history!!!First af all German navy was far more beter than the Russian. Also, the Russian navy was destroyed during the Russo-Japanese war!!!Delete this Sh1t!!!!!!It is totally wrong!!!

  • Ohhhhh my God!!!The Russians do not know anything about history!!!First of all the German navy was far more better than the russian!!!Also the russian navy was destroyed during the Russo-Japanese War.This movie is totally wrong!!!Delete this sh1t!!!

  • @DeutscheMonarchie you clearly know nothing. the only ships that went to Tsushima were the heavy battleships and cruisers. the destroyers, like the one shown here, were too small to make the trip. so yes, there were Russian ships in the baltic. and a lucky hit is still a lucky hit, no matter how different the size in ship. a single plane DESTROYED the USS Arizona at Pearl harbor. do some research. if you know anything beyond Hollywood.

  • @Soundwave3591 HaHaHa!!!In battle of Battle of Tsushima the strength of Russian Imperial Navy was 8 battleships, 3 coastal battleships,8 cruisers,9 destroyers!!!You have to make a better research, man!!!And your argument is totally wrong, ofc and o bigger ship with better equipment is far more better!!!And the most important thing is the speed!!!

  • @DeutscheMonarchie your poor grasp of the english language hampers your argument. and Destroyers are FASTER than Battleships. the Russian fleet heading to Port Arthur had to leave it's small ships, like the one seen here, behind, as they wouldn't have survived the trip round the cape of good hope. and there was still Russian Naval strength in the Baltic, Including Battleships. do some research yourself before you spout Bull like this.

  • @Soundwave3591First of all i think that my English knowledge is excelent, becuase of my having passed the examination of Proficiency. Also i do not question that there were Russian Navy strength in the Baltic see!!!!You have to understand that Russians did not have the potential to defeat the German Navy, because the German Navy had a far more better equipment and training than the Russian one .

  • @Soundwave3591 It is also remarkable to say that the German imperial navy was able to defeat the British one in the battle of Jutland. Finally, i want remind you that you come from America,so stop carrying diskussions about historical themes,as America doe not have history.America is a mpastard nation, which conists of several people, who do not have history!!!I am sorry i forgot, you have history, you were slaves to British Empire hahaha!!!

  • IMHO Kolchak was pushing around Japs in a Pacific. He wasn't there on Baltic against Germans.

  • Russian movies are so intense.

    Awesome.

  • @suhail3920 Good guess, but I've seen the movie since posting that, (with subtitles,) and the captain actually identifies it as the Friedrich Carl. She and her sister ship >are< close to the Roon class, with the main visual difference being 3 stacks to the Roons 4. Also, historically speaking, the Firedrich Carl was mined by Russian Destroyers, in poor weather off of Memel.. though it took 10 or so hours to sink with only 7 deaths.

Do you know what the Russian boat is though?

  • @Scheer905 Thanks, I've looked at the profiles of the Roon & FC classes in my Janes WWI reference and they're both quite similar aside from the number of funnels. I'm not surprised that the film producers would play with details a bit. As for the Russian ship, the closest profile that I can see would be the Dyelni class destroyers - it's a closer match than the minelayers that are listed and the Dyelnis could carry mines. That's the best I can come up with for now.

  • This is convincing visually. Lots of lousy visibility, banging metal, decks aslosh w/... stuff, people wet and on fire. 'Modern' gunnery in a tilted, unfair, old-school bang match... of personal hell. They even got in that muffle-daze-shell-shock moment. So Russia does a slick Hollywood mash up all the way to a wrong history. Kolchak sort of did this, off Port Arthur, different war. His career was way beyond WW1 and the Revolution; but, this is remaking a hero from the old Russia. I'll watch it.

  • @MrDarwinsDog, he was in both jap and first world wars.

  • wow!

  • 04:30 Bulls eye

  • great Dacian blood of Admiral Cholceac.

  • @wotansteel Admiral Kolchal was of turkish origin, not dacian... i think

  • This movie looks good. Wish it had sub-titles so i could see what it was saying.

  • I'm going to have to start watching some Russian war movies 8)

  • I love historical movies!

  • Looks like a torpedo boat destroyer, small but very fast with tiny guns against a cruiser.

  • Now this is some epic scene here. those Russians really had balls of steel...

  • what a brutal fight ran9780

  • The most brutal sea fight i'v ever seen....it really looks like russian military tradition when officer is yelling at 80% burned seaman and calling him to arms...

  • Looks like a Russian pre-dreadnaught vs a German Dreadnaught... i'm surprised the dreadnaught didn't just tear them apart at a long range...

  • @thugugbob the Russian ship look like a Destroyer to me. and the German ship is likely to be a Protected Cruiser. but you are right about the destruction

  • Damn, Russia was a powerful christian empire and became a communist, bolshevik monster.

  • @luckyStrike89ru bolshevik means "majority" so its a major monster? and its not communist anymore also this was during ww1 wich they wert communist they were loyal to the czar lol till revo of 1917

  • @DJsharp707 Where did I say that they're communist in this? wtf you even talking about? I know my country's history better than you.... *facepalm*.

  • was anybody elses room shaking during this vid?

  • @bialasova Amin

  • hahahahahahah one small destroyer fired calibre russian shell destroys a battleships bridge while taking multiple heavy hits xD how russian movie alike.....

  • @inar64 He only hit the aft turret and disabled it thus giving them some more time to run.

Yeah, it's bullshit, but not impossible.

  • @Galf506 He hits the bridge, not the aft turret. If I'm correct that German ship is a Blucher class battlecruser, and thus not have stacked turrets.

Anyone know what the Russian craft is? I'm not up to specks with my Russian empire era warships.

  • @Scheer905 My guess would be a Roon class armored cruiser - from which the Scharnhorsts were based on. They were older ships, but imposing and served a good deal in the Baltic Sea during WWI.

  • hahahahahahah one small destroyer fired calibre russian shell destroys a battleship while taking multiple heavy hits xD how russian movie alike.....

  • I see Russian film makers are just as realistic as Hollywood

  • that is one lightly armed ship...

  • fuck communism!

  • @xganger2 Is that all you can say, retard?

  • @Ninelon no its the best thing i can say!

  • @xganger2 you are realy stupid!!!

  • @xganger2 fuck you,stupid asshole!!!

  • Самый хороший фильм за последнее время. Меняет взгляд на революцию...

Фильм крутой но слишком много любви.

  • @paulsviplist Russia had to take part in WW1 to protect east slav orthodoxal coutries from germans. (as Russia always did ). The real quwestion is Why germans attacked USSR in 1941. especially after signing of Molotov-Ribentrop pact.

  • @alender2009 Russia should have been punished the same as the Germans. They attacked Poland and Finland!

  • @redpaw550 bullshit

  • @alender2009 why is that bullshit, just because Russia wasn't the greatest evil back then it was clearly evil! Invasions on neutral country's, labor camps!! Looks like the third reich doesn't it!

  • @redpaw550 I don't know what Russia was, but all I know is that US, NATO and Israel are the 3rd reich now. Just look at thier anti-muslim propaganda. Not anti-terrorist, but anti-muslim

That is just one example which is more than enough, Hitler did the same with Jews

  • @Dimneh Hitler tried to exterminate jews in death camps. We the US NATO and Israel (myself being Dutch) are not trying to exterminate muslims. In fact we went over there to the desert to try and clear some of the mess. I have to admit that we created this mess by setting up and funding extremist terrorist organisations. So dont say we are like hitler.

  • @redpaw550 Funny thing dude, is that you say "we - us nato and israel", while you are dutch

Yes you guys are trying to extreminate muslims. Ofcourse you aren't talking about it like Hitler. You aren't talking about it much at all, you just kill them. Because they have oil, and your "reason" is US bombing itself on 9/11. You started that war by invading them, created the mess there, and now trying to solve it. You aren't the "good guys".

  • @Dimneh First lets not forget, the USSR was the first to invade Afganistan. Second of the 16 million people in the Netherlands 1 million are muslim (o yes we are trying to exterminate them yet they are in our own house). Thrid since us nato and israel are all allied every inhabitant of those countries is part of that alliance (if you did not know Netherlands is member of the NATO).

  • @redpaw550 Haha, funny, 1st we were talking about "USSR loosing in Afgan", and now you just leaved it and started about "USSR invading Afgan". Yes they invaded, so what now? That war was over years ago. And there is no more communism in Russia - that government is gone, if you didn't know. My point was - that US helped Talibs in that war. Now noone helps Talibs

You guys let muslims in, your goverments, so don't blame them if you don't like something

Ye I know Netherlands is in nato lol

  • @Dimneh Who was the one saying we had problems with Muslims and we are trying to exterminate them? I'm not blaming them for anything, most Muslims are good people. We are just trying to stop the bad ones from threatening our homelands. True US and NATO helped the taliban in the war against USSR. Now they are treatening us and we are trying to stop them. About Netherlands being in NATO you first said it was strange it called it we, I tried to explain why I said that!

  • @redpaw550 Why you all deside for others how they should live? Did god tell that to you or may be your governments think they are god?

  • @redpaw550, and Poland divided Czechoslovakia together with Germans in 1939. Poland was punished for that, fair enough.

  • I give you 5 stars from The USA.

I have the whole movie in my playlist : - )

My only question is why did they attack Russia?

  • it`s the first world war.russian on the german territory

  • First World War is... ))

  • @paulsviplist Russian tzar made desicion for whole nation and joined WW1 to help Britain because of family relation to UK royal family. That was mistake.Germany was fighting only wit UK and France and did not atack Russia. This decicion cost Russia revolution which was aranged by Lenin and sponsored by Gerany, just to eliminate second front.

  • When they pray in battle thats the finest scene and my favourite.

    God with us!

  • @Wofka1986

Dostoevsky at its best. Great scenario. Even better interpretation. With a subtle taste of russian spirit of sacrifice it's a work of art.
