I had the same experience as you Edwin, I remember that apartment very well...I have my tapes too - what a great time in my life, I think the world of him, what a terrific teacher, friend, inspiration and above all else, one HELL of a player!
I took lessons for a year or so around 1980/81 at his 94th St apt. He's a great teacher with unbelievable patience and he may be the nicest guy I had ever met. I still work from those lessons and love to watch the videos of Woody playing. We had some great conversations about Davis and Jorma.
