Thats exactly right joad. Its one thing to say your gonna quit your job and make your money from the stock market or something. But its a whole other thing to actually do it. The truth is, we arent given the same opportunities as the rich. And this lack of information and support makes getting ahead a pipe dream, and slavery a reality.

Unless of course you didn't get a good education that our govt. promises... so you can't get to college... you can't get anything better... so your idea's are nice in a perfect world... unfortunately it's not. So what are we going to do to make it possible for everyone to get better. Or do you believe that folks want to live in crappy conditions..?

i think people are not willing to do what it takes to live in better conditions. and i think people are willing to vote in folks who will give them money. i.e. welfare. my mom was on welfare when i was a kid, she took advantage of the schooling uncle sam provided and became a transcriptionist. she was only on welfare for two years, she worked hard and did what needed to be done and never expected anything from anyone, she taught me that you have to work for it because no one owes me anything.

I grew up in the projects as well. Food stamps... welfare... single mom... the whole deal. And yes my mom taught me the best she could to work hard and get ahead. I followed her advice and did.

However to deny that there are challenges or that the corporate system or educational system is set up in a way that does not help those with less motivation or education to get ahead.

The lie is that everyone can make it. Some people need more help.

yeah, there is more opportunity for us, compared to the slaves. But in a way, you can say it is LIKE slavery to work at min. wage. Life is unfair, and when you are stuck workin cheap, it's hard to get any higher, unless you are gettin help from you parent or hopefully the government.
