Glad you liked it! Sydney had a big ramp up in the standard and scale of their fireworks in the leadup to 2000 and the Olympics. Now the population is used to it, I think there would be an outcry and political backlash if they were scaled back, despite everyone realising how much they cost to stage.
Oh cool! Yeah - they really know how to get the crowd excited with these displays. They've been doing these huge ones since before the Olympics (say 1998 - 99) and so we're sort of used to it, but it's still cool.
I'd love to go to one of those big fireworks contests they have where fireworks manufaturers show off their best stuff!
Yeah, we kinda lucked out with locations this year. We had this spot at Lavender Bay, an office building in North Sydney for the 9PM ones, and tickets to the Cahill Expressway that we didn't wind up using. Way better than some years in the past!
LOL! It seems to be going OK. I guess I get to test-drive every day for the rest of you. Now if we could only figure out a way to turn that into some sort of lottery scam...
Yeah, I gather from Jordan that your local town fireworks display is - um - kind of different to this one! Hope you're doing OK with the scary freezing weather.
OK, you had my vote for the oddest comment ever until I looked up the movie on Wiki! NOW it all makes sense!
Oh, if you'd seen the crowd standing mesmerised by the pretty lights, you might think we actually were zombies with our politicians using them to distract us. The analogy is scarily accurate.
Oh and my toes are wagging at seeing you in my comments! :D
Oh cool Saba - glad you liked it! I see you haven't watched that many videos, so I'm quite honoured that you chose one of mine!
Is New Year's celebrated widely in Iran, or is the big celebration saved up for Nowruz? Either way, I hope 2009 is an amazing year for you, and I'm very happy you've stumbled across my channel!
Australia's one of the firsts to ring in the New Year! I was telling my German friends that they're living in a different year than me for some hours haha! We're now in 2009 as of 2 hours ago though. Feeling pretty much the same. ;D That was the first New Year celebration I saw tonight (I didn't even watch the NYC celebration because it makes me sad because I'm not there with all the excitement)!
Happy New Year! I wish you all the best for 2009! =)
Yes! I've been trading on that all day Kaitlyn! The time zone differences are never more obvious than for a big event like this. I guess apart from random Pacific islands, you guys are the last to go through it. Glad to hear you've caught up with us! ;P
Ahh so awesome to see the Sydney fireworks once again (saw it on Jen's channel) it never really gets old seeing this awesome display.. I mean, you should see the Baldwinville firework show.. now that's something to see! =P
LOL! Damn! My video was up before hers!! Yeah, but I guess the change of perspective makes a difference - you're right, it never gets old.
I see that you guys have ticked over, so Happy New Year Jordan! It's been amazing getting to know you over - wow - even just a few short months. I'm really looking forward to 2009, and I figure seeing you IRL will be part of that.
Why thankyou! OK, so two compliments on picture quality make me a lot happier about this camera, especially coming from you with all the effort you've been putting in for sharp videos.
Glad you enjoyed the video. I hope 2009 is a milestone year for you, and I hope to get a chance to see you in some far flung corner of the world.
I caught a couple last night walking around the neighborhood setting off fireworks. Shocked the crap out of them. Guess they didn't think girls walked alone after midnight. :PPPP hehe Although, they were committing crimes. They didn't want to pay the fines so they were on the move.
Oh hell yeah - we're sooo addicted to fireworks after the 2000 / Olympics stuff. I'd hate to be the politician that tried to scale it back now! I think it's pretty much the biggest display in the world most years.
LOL at Ash patrolling the streets at night fighting crime!! Da da da daaahhh!!
Happy New Year Ash - I hope 2009 is jam packed with awesome!
Actually, I hadn't noticed the reflections - I'll have to go back and check it out. Yeah, we had good options this year - the spot at the harbour for the 12 o'clock, my sister's work building (with clean toilets!) for the 9 o'clock, and free tickets to the Cahill Expressway that we didn't use.
Happy New Year Jen - I love that we saw it in in the same city!
Yes! I think they're having trouble topping themselves year after year. At least they've calmed down a little on the size of the event since the Olympics, but now they have us addicted...
Woooooo... we're from the fuuutuuurre... rofl!! I kinda like the fact that stuff happens here first. Kinda don't like that YT wouldn't let me put today's date on the video because they don't have 2009 on the menu yet!

Awsomeness!!! Gave me goosebumps!! Our fireworks for the 4th of July are like flicking a bic lighter compared to these!

Yay! Yeah, Sydney really puts on a good show with them. There were more yesterday for Australia Day, but nothing like the scale of these.

(^_^) They're so cool, and we're totally spoiled with them here. I guess they have to make up in some way for the ban on having them at home.

wow... goose-skin. I love it when lots of firework-rockets explode at the same time, so this video is full of lovely moments! ;D
Happy new year, btw!

Michael, the quality of this video is stunning! And how cool is it that I can watch the fireworks celebration from Sydney here is icy cold Wisconsin?
Happy New Year my friend!

LOL - yes, in The Future there will be celebrations and fireworks! Hope the Chicago trip goes smoothly, then fun, then smoothly for you!
Oh, I'm glad the video turned out OK. First one filmed on a new compact camera. I was kind of questioning if the upgrade made any difference.
