well i was brought up in stoke on trent, surrounded by family, who were into northern soul from america, and my dad also had a collection of old house/disco records ranging from the 70's to early 90's, however i started out listening to the commercial modern chart dance music (minestry of sound) then my love for house began, i have since watched many documentaries on how original chicago house evolved into what it is today, and now have a love for the old skool rather than modern :D

What is marketed as "house" to normal people now days is utter trash...digg deeper and find the real shit, there is still quality house music out there and many people still making it.

yes it is. R&b had soul once. Nowadays if it isn't crunk-ish or nu soul...it's hard to make it stick. Been going back to my 78-92 era lately or anything that sounds like that as far as soul goes..Ironic that house is the one that's dedicated to keeping the spirit alive.
