  • I've been looking for a single stack 9mm although I love SIG's - I'm thinking hard and unless some other compelling reason comes along will get a Beretta Nano- any thoughts? Review I appreciate your "expert" Internet advise seriously !

  • @amacro11 I wanted the Nano also. I got to finally shoot one recently and it did not impress me enough to get rid of my P290. If it had a stainless slide I might feel different but for now the P290 stays and the Nano remains at the store.

  • You have a really bad flinch there bro.

  • Flinching on both of the misfires... Better do some dry fire (snap caps) work.

  • Should have stuck with your butt ugly Kahr.

  • Sig stated they just shipped 4000 of these all with the updated parts inside but they said when I go to buy it call them so they can verify the serial number and confirm it's been updated

  • I picked up a P290 this weekend and had a far worse exsperience unfortunately. Ran 72 rounds through her just fine, and then complete FTF failure. She would not shoot even one more round after that. It is one of the first runs as the serial number is under 2000 and is a "first edition" model with ceremonial grips proclaiming such, but now an RMA is issues and she is headded back to the shop. I have 5 other Sig's that have NEVER let me down, so I have faith they will get this one corrected.

  • @michaeljdunn67 that is the risk we take when we willingly become beta testers for new models. Luckily the new trigger group fixes the issue right up. It turns out it was just a small part that was allowed to rotate too freely. Mine functions perfectly now.

  • @TheYankeeMarshal Yeah, I knew the risk picking this one up after reading all the reviews prior to my purchase, so I was not totally devestated, just disappointed. So how many rounds do you have through yours now, and assume that you have not had any issues since the rebuild?

  • @michaeljdunn67 I didn't get through 50 rounds the first time with it. Now I have fired an additional 300-350 rounds without a single failure.

  • Don't lean back when you shoot, you look like a girl.

  • @GigsVT shutup dickhead, he wasn't feeling well. He said so.

  • @sempertard

lol that asshole doesn't even know anything about what he's talking about watch theyankeemarshal's channel and anyone can see he's not an inexperienced shooter.

  • @tubevideoguy762 I am also not a great shooter. When I get tired I tend to sit on the divider wall behind me. I am often not just leaning back, but almost sitting as well. I have the backs of my thighs leaning against the wall. Leaning forward to shoot all day kills my back and I start getting shakey.

  • @TheYankeeMarshal

not a great shooter? you sir i would say are being to harsh about your abilities. from what i've seen on a good day i might be slightly more accurate than you but you are still a great shot.

  • @tubevideoguy762 Thanks...I can hit my target pretty darn well, but my form sucks. I go to the range with other people all the time that bitch at me about my form as they shoot buckshot patterns and I shoot 3" groups.

  • @TheYankeeMarshal

Yeah i did notice that but i don't tell people that when they know there form sucks ideally i believe you should align the pistol perfectly with your arm and lean your body toward the weapon with both hands kept up high and both thumbs pointed toward the target. That's just how i've been taught and for me it greatly improved my accuracy. Even though i haven't tried to get great groups past 15 yards. How's the situation with you p290, still getting light strikes?

  • @tubevideoguy762 I agree. Even when he triggered several "failed to fire" rounds the flinch was barely noticeable. The sign of an experienced shooter or a drunk. I don't think we was drinking. Definitely looked like a massive sinus infection to me. Hey Yankee, get that nose thing fixed dewd. If it's chronic, it won't get better man. Good luck.

  • This is a question only you can answer. Would you trust this pistol with your life, as your CC pistol? I had issues like that with my G19, sold it because I lost confidence with the pistol...

  • I'm about to fire my P250 Subcompact tomorrow, so I hope I have better luck than you did at first. Glad to hear it appears to be shoddy ammo though!

I had similar issues with my Kahr CW9 when I first purchased it. Though my FTF rounds had decent strikes from where the firing pin hit, so I knew it wasn't a "light strike" but the ammo. Anyway, good luck with the future. Sig does make great guns.

  • Looks like you should do some dry fire drills to take care of that terrible flinch you have....Also loose the cup and saucer grip, you'll do much better.

  • @jdillow85 I do not usually have that. It was a product of a sinus infection and a searing headache. I could barely keep my eyes open. I actually have a video about it but have not posted it yet. I need to but it makes me look like a total puss. ;-)

  • UPDATE: I ran the last remaining rounds of the suspect ammo through my Rohrbaugh and on the very first mag I had the same issue with the fifth round. It failed to fire the first time but did fire after a second strike.

  • Always clean a new firearm before firing it. I believe that the instruction manual say as much :). I did the same thing with my new P228, and the casings were ejecting into my face first time out due to my not pre-cleaning it. After a good cleaning, it sent them way over my shoulder. The anti-corrosion lube used to protect the gun is pretty sticky stuff, and will slow down the travel of the firing pin and slide. I don't think you'll have any other issues! Enjoy the P290!

  • UPDATE: I have not been able to recreate the light strikes after two more trips to the range and 175 rounds of ammo.

  • @TheYankeeMarshal glad to hear the update, I have been wanting one of the P290's. Might start saving up for one.

  • Bummer. Please keep us posted.

  • i would be pretty mad. screw that

  • I did get back to the range with another 100 rounds of WWB. I was not able to recreate the issue. Only time will tell.

  • @TheYankeeMarshal I have the new p290 as well and am experiencing the light strike issue every 5th or 6th shot. I love the gun for my concealed carry but this light strike stuff is shaking my faith in the gun. I am going to clean it one more good time and take it to the range tomorrow. If it still does it I am going to start looking for another option. PS I also have the sig p238 and it performs perfectly. I have about 500 rounds through it with no issues.

  • @digitalshow Let us know what happens.

  • Pricey gun for that to be happening. What a shame.

  • Sorry to see this. I know how it feels.

Don't jump to any conclusions and don't sell it yet. (I know how you are, LOL!)

Clean it real good, really cleaning the firing pin/channel to make sure there is no oil/dirt in there slowing it down. Get a variety of ammo and hit the range again when you are feeling better.

With all the issues that SIG had with the P250 line, I can only imagine that SIG put in much more effort testing before releasing the P290. I have faith, don't let us down SIG

  • UH OHHHHHH ! DA DA DA DAAAHHHH! The suspense is killing me!

  • @macfin88 No, it was Independence 115gr FMJ. The rounds did fire the second time I ran them through the gun.

  • Yep, that'll ruin the party and quick!
