  • I wear ball spurs on my horse but only to help him to move over and stay in his pocket. when he gets his speed sometimes leg pressure isnt enough and I dont want to crank on his face either.

  • there horses that need spurs and whps and there are some that dont it depends on the horse and there not being use cruelly in this video there being used as a tool to help turn shap and the whip is to get speed but i can see how it looks bad but its not as bad as it looks

  • this is NOT a negative comment! im just curious.....was the first girl useing her hand or a whip to hit her horse? i dont do barrel racing so i dont know how it works! thanks

  • @bluebellrox123 - Whip

  • Love you Dezy <3

  • no offence and all

  • im only just learning how to baral race and i dnt need to or have to use spurs or whips on her she knows what exspected she can feel my emotions when i want her to go faster i only have to click my touge or say cmon girl faster i dnt see the need to use whips or spurse!!! and if all you barral races actually had a connection with you horse i dnt thing u would need to use whips or spurs ither

  • what the song called

  • What music is? (sorry, no speak english) :P

  • EPIC . <<333

  • Plz make more vid's

  • @Breakaywayroper11 - I make a lot of videos. Just check out my channel.

  • I dont have to use a whip on my horse but, it helps get more out of her.........

  • Ive been barrel racing for a long time now . I have ran in buckle and saddle series . and yes i am aggressive. If you know anything about horses, or THESE types of horses, they ENJOY going fast, and they dont get hurt by you whippin or kicking them, My barrel horse is actually trained with spurs, meaning you have to use spurs with him, and you dont see him dying? Im pretty sure y'all wouldnt be complaining if you seen the paychecks we win . just saying .

  • At first I was like. What is this? And then I watched a little more and I stated to like the music...

  • What's the name of the song?

  • Common do you think our ancestors got around the U.S. on their horses without some encouragement from a pop or poke every now and then!? I mean watch horses out in the their natural environment they get kicked at and bit! Think about how much more that hurts! You aren't hurtin your horse unless the have welps and cuts!

  • @Horselvr139 I'm not trying to sound mean. but It's just that some horses will ONLY run hard if you use a whip, my old mare, I had to whip her once in the alleyway to get her goin, once between 1st and 2nd, once or twice between 2nd and 3rd, and ATLEAST three times runnin home (BUT I NEVER WHIPPED HER HARD, just a quick pop). If I didn't we would get an 18 or 19. Again, some horses just aren't as into barrel racin as others, or are havin their bad days, and don't run as well without a whip.

  • ya your not going to hurt the horse like that it takes alot to do that...the wip is just alittle motavation

  • my daughter barrelraces, she kicks sometimes, and whips other times. With our horse if she kicks more then once or twice it actually shortens the stride. She does use spurs, only the barrel bumper, she had gotten some more agressive ones but had to quit using them because they ended up cutting the horse. I don't disagree with you, each horse is different.

Love the video, you did a great job.

    Merry Christmas

  • @crazyLunchladie - I agree with you. It's okay to use that stuff, as long as the person doesn't abuse it or it's not something too harsh. Thank you for commenting! Merry Christmas to you, too. :)

  • @barrelracer4lifecg13 all a matter also how to use it. "earn the spurs"

  • @barrelracer4lifecg13 omg i use a whip a lot and hae sharp spurs and kick the wind out of her u dont know much bout barrel racing if u dont know that u have to kick a lot so gotta problem with it

  • It doesn't knock the wind out the horse, Its just a cue to make them run faster as well as whipping... Horses have thick skin.

  • sweet video, :) i guess i'm one of the horse abusers that use spurs and whip my horse. if you hit me with that whip that hard, i'm sure it'd burn my butt... but think about how much bigger horses are, how much they weigh etc. sometimes it's necessary.

  • @kewi125 - Thank you! :) I mean, it's not really abuse - unless someone would just use them to get after their horses non-stop or in a mean way. I use a whip on my horses, and I need spurs for one of them - I just don't have any. Like you said, they are necessary sometimes. Thanks for commenting!

  • it really does look liike theyre moving to the music!!!

  • @Shadye31 - Sorry, I forgot about your comment. Good, I was hoping they did. Thanks for your comment!

  • Thanks for watching my vids everyone but I didn't make it to criticize the riders.. it's just for fun!

  • I dont whip either. I also dont use spurs. When my horse is going as fast as she can, I dont wack her or kick her, thats like punishing her for doing her best. I usually just lean forward, give her as much rein as she wants and enjoy the ride and we can still get good times.

  • @horselover0853 Dont you have the slightest idea every horse is trained a little different . My barrel horses are trained with SPURS meaning you have to actually kick them, and spur them to keep them motivated and focused . I have ran barrel and saddle series . and I have beenm doing this since i was a toddler .

My horse NEEDS to be kicks and whipped, its just some of us barrel racers way .

  • Wow, she just never stops kicking and hitting with a crop... I actually kind of feel bad for that horse getting hit so much, I try to never hit a horse with a crop... I don't like doing that! But awesome video anyway, barrel racing forever! :)

  • @VintedgeWildHorses Actually your supposed to kick them even after you start at the barrel runs, it lets them know your still up there running with them and sometimes it looks like they're kicking harder than they actually are because they bounce around lol

  • i love it but i have disagree about useing whip.i would use it and surpse to but my horse dosent need it cuz he runs on his own but yeah..ill be in there in 4 more years!!

  • @barrelracerandpoles - Thanks!

Yeah, I don't either. It's just in the vid though. Idk. I don't whip my horse either. Just when she is misbehaving (she misbehaves alot because she is high spirited and crazy) but I only do it if she is getting out of control, I won't whip her - I will just smack the middle of her neck and she calms down but that's not often and she doesn't really care, she is just like,"Oh! Yeah, I should calm down." Lol.. I don't even have a riding crop. Haha.

  • i love it!!

  • @JulieLovesShiloh - Yeah. Thanks! I was worried the timing would be off. But it turned out better than I thought. :)

  • What song is this?

  • @gallopturnandburn - Newton by Streamline, I believe. :)

  • Thanks! Great video by the way! :)

  • @gallopturnandburn - :) Thanks

  • FINALLY YOU GOT IT UP !!! Good job !!
