@ForgottenFlesh When are you guys going to learn that in music or art, there is no such thing as the best? You know why? It's not a competition. If all drummers played the exact same drums, set-up, pedals, cymbals, stick, music, than you could compare. But it's about expressing themselves on the instrument along with the music and everyone is going to express themselves differently. He's technically amazing. But there is no onbjective way to determine who the best is.
@ForgottenFlesh And because there's no objective way to determine who the best is, it makes no sense to say one drummer is the best, or comparing drummers in general. There will never be a way to compare. Everything from training, to experience and all the variables in equipment...It's rediculous to even attept to compare musicians, especially drummers.
Just saw Dafnis in Cleavland at the Drum Fantasy Camp and let me tell you this guy was teaching everybody new things. His musical approach even had Dave Weckl's jaw hitting the floor. I kid you not. Dafnis picked the mic up and with a clave began playing the typical pattern. The thing was he starting doing this super fast cuban scatting/ konokol (spoken rhythm) along with the clave pattern and Dave Weckl,Steve Smith, Erskine and Igoe all knew that it was time to expand their minds some.
great job guys , love the variations and swing ,very unique. slick groove, thank y'all
