Its hard to tell in this video, but the most important thing to do when you tie your shoes is to use a square not not a granny. 80% of the people use a granney.

To make sure you use a square, balanced knot, your first part of the knot must be the opposite direction of the second part.

so if you tie the first part right over left, the 2nd part with the ears must be left over right.

This is a more important point than anything else.
