  • i want his babies. =)

  • @Crazee108 You'll have a job as he "plays for the other team" (Gay) - but have fun trying i'm sure Derren will appreciate the offer !

  • @computersolutions164 Hahahahahah yea i know he's gay.... he still radiates such a charming personality though. <3

  • @Crazee108 You'll have a job he's gay !!

(but you are welcome to try)

  • Wow.. i can say that this IS legit. You can't act the role of the blond lady in this video.. look at her reactions; she's in love with Derren haha

  • OH wait!! there's a part 4! lol!! i didn't see that one hihi!!

  • but he didn't explaine how he did it....maaaaan, sucks

  • Hmmmm....so thats how Lucifer brought about world war 1 and 2, controlled conflict for the goal of whatever the desired result.....this is probabley how he's been runnining the world this whole time through his illuminated ones and the masons....hmmm, interesting...

  • i want it to be true but thats all i can explain

  • yeah that or.... its rigged?

  • hmmmm i dunno bout this one

  • or...this man is the inteligent man in the world...or hes the best scammer in the world ;)

  • thanks for the upload!

  • this is plain crazy.

  • he said billions but it is 1.48 TRILLION

  • He was probably talking about a British billion, which is the same as an American trillion.

  • You'r a bloody yank you are.

  • watch from 6:02 to6:20

and focus on the picture witch is behind Derren's head

  • thats gloss from the photo paper

  • "Not impossible, just highly improbable"

    LOVE THIS QUOTE!

  • this is precisely the fallacy of logic that gives rise to intelligent design.

  • how many times did they have to film this...

  • Let's do production together. I thought of the same, plus how bloody much it must have cost.:-)

  • Derren Brown is so fucking awesome i think we all should have to see a match between him and David Blain lol just like in harry potter

  • Derren Brown would slaughter David Blaine. :|

    ...Figuratively, I'm sure.

  • man come on David Blaine is an illusionist and Derren Brown is the real thing

  • cant belive they actually picked those pictures.. they did not even look at all 500 pics each

  • The photos are forced. Derren said don't let any impression affects your choice just choose a random photo. And also some other suggestions before they choose the photos. This forces the people to choose something that has subtle relation with them (the initial in this case), their conscious mind might not aware but their subconscious pick up the suggestion

  • I think everyone knows its a psychological force. I have been a fan of Derren for years and seen him live too, Now tell me don't you think that it is somewhat coincidental that they ALL chose initials, as opposed to for example the name of their children or pets say. You are half right and half wrong my friend. It is a force thats true but that's where it ends.

  • Yea right

  • The random method used to select the photis may have been edited out "due to time restrictions." ;)

  • @computersolutions164 Yes, I'm fairly certain the only psychology he employs is making people thing he's using psychology to achieve the effect. It's really just a clever magic trick that is disguised as being a mind trick.

  • @computersolutions164 but how did he bloody do it??? :O I just don't get it...

  • @tarrizzzzzzzzz If you get enough people and a horse racing event and divide the number of people into the number of horses in the race, then you will have a group of people where the winner was "apparently predicted". If you take this winning group and do the same again with another horse race, you'll end up with one person who had all winners in all races. That just leaves the problem of the LAST race.

  • @computersolutions164 That, I got, obviously. What I don't get is how he did the thing with the four experts :O

  • Un-fucking-believable

  • no one can beat Derren Brown

  • it stops at 2:19

    DAMN?

  • This seems to be happening on quite a few videos actually randomly apparently

  • this is pretty damn epic.

  • Derren Brown is a god amongst mere mortals.

  • derren brown has a beautiful mind..

  • I know flowers everywhere lol !

  • IF there are 500 pictures then there has to be more than one of the same initial pairings...right?

  • and they just so happened to PICK them, eh?

  • I have been wondering where the FORCE was for picking those particular initials too.

What is interesting with this is that it isi the oder they ended up in rather than what was picked.

  • You mean more than one photo with the same initials, law of averages would suggest so, I guess. out of 500 folks you are bound to get more than one Tom Dick or Harry, with identical initials.

Why have Your Tube gone to this horrid wide format it's shit - change it back this instant please

  • 26 letter in the alphabet squared is 676

  • Not necessarily. The people they chose could have the initials J.P., P.B., K.S., and J.B. (which they did), but the rest of the pictures all may have the same set of initials, or something like that.

  • Derren Brown is from Brittain and the Europeans have another Counting system. Our billion is like your trillion and your billion is called milliard in Europa.

  • The British tend to use the short (American) system. It's only really like that in France and Germany.

  • No they don't the British system is completely diffewrent to the American system, for one thing our odds are fractional and theirs are decimal

In fact most of Europe uses the decimal system.

    If I understand you correctly

  • America is pretty much the only country that doesn't use the metric system. Metric system is actually much more accurate and precise, and it's the real original version, remember, America was founded by the British. The British system, whatever it is, is more pure in that sense.

  • Comment removed

  • Wouldnt it be controlling their mind to choose the one with the same initials not just "luck" by making them the same initials they would think its a good one to choose and were influenced thats how I see it

  • The system works. I won 3 million in Las Vegas .

  • Can anyone explain this for me? Derren Brown says "1.48 Billion" however, when we talk numbers and we say "1.48 Billion" that translates to "1,480,000,000". Am I right?

If so, then his number "1482065928000" would technically be said as "1.48 Trillion", not "billion". Because his number (1482065928000) would be written as "1,482,065,928,000", which is (like I said) 1 Trillion (not a billion).

I don't doubt Derren Brown, I love his work and believe in him, but doesn't this seem strange? Reply!!

  • Probably an error on derren's part

  • Yeah. I think he either meant to say/write "1.48 billion" as in the 48 was the "billion". Unless in the UK there is some rule for saying numbers like that.

It just seemed odd how his final number was 3 extra digits than what he said/wrote. I think the number "1482065928000" is the correct percentage for "the system".

  • You could also say this number as follows

    1482 billion

    65 million

    928 thousand

Depends on whther you are talking about a UK Billion or a US Billion, they are different

  • AH! Yes. Very true. I'm from the US so I'm talking about the US Billion. I could see how you can say 1482 billion just like, here in the US, you can say 15 hundred and mean "1500" or "1,500".

I wonder if Derren Brown will ever be coming to the US soon?? I would love to meet him and talk to him. He sounds very very interesting.

  • If you are ever in London go and see the live show. You'll love it !

  • Oh I would LOVE to go to London! And you can bet on it that I will go see his live show the night I get there! :D

  • i have fainted on the floor

  • then how are you writing?

  • with my feet

  • I see, well it all makes sense then

  • pleased to be of assistance

  • WTF?! If he goes to hell, we're gonna have a new devil.

  • there's no such thing as coincidence just the mere illusion of it(that we make up)

  • What you mean is that coincidence is entirely unpredictable to the point where it becomes inevitable. Depends on what your perception of coincidence is. From my own experience I would not totally agree with you but I would agree in part, only partly though.

  • Yeah Three Words "Nothing is Random". You think of stuff that you associate with(notably numbers) and an computer random function is based on time it on which it needed to do the function.

  • Well put. Chaos theory is awesome.

  • That's the easiest, cheapest and least secure method. RNG extension cards as used in the servers that power the online casinos, is the best way to produce a "Random Number". Always do it in hardware. Its much better.

  • 5:52 I meant :P

  • I love the way he always sounds thrileed when somethings worked or he's proved something. You can tell especially at 4:52 :D

  • Derren is the Best

  • i am sure he subliminaly commanded them to pick the picture he wanted them to pick..he is just a guy living in UK..getting a BIG sum of money to use his brains..I would love to do that..

  • I WANT TO MARRY HIS BRAIN!!!!!

  • Just his brain not therest of him then ?

  • guys aren't my type.

  • And the showoff even gave us a slice of Edeitic memory :P

  • The 1.48 billion probability thing is perplexing. Either it is an attempt at misdirection or it's a core part of the trick somehow... or both.

It just struck me as odd, while I was watching Derren demonstrate his odds theory, that one would calculate a probability of a system which calculates probabilities. It simply seems circuitous and silly.

I haven't seen the whole thing yet, so maybe it'll end up making sense.

  • You are exactly right, and i am a seasoned horse betting person. I manage to win reasonably consistently. It's not difficult if you know how to calculate it - and more importantly EXACTLY how the bookmaker operates.

This was misdirection, I mean "A system to calculate the probability of their being a system", yes its circuitous.

there are hundreds of betting systems put together by people with decades of experience and stats at their fingertips. Some are better than others.

  • For example did you know that more often than not the winner of any horse race will come from one of the first four in the betting forecast - FACT.

If you spend all season just betting on favourites you willl only return a 33% profit for your money - FACT.

If you place balanced bets based on the betting forecast, IGNORING THE FIRST FAVOURITE you will return over 70% profit by the end of the season. - FACT

Flat races are easier to calculate than over the sticks - FACT

  • I must be really stupid, but I just don't understand how he did this thing with these people and the polaroids.

    Can anyone explain?

  • Derren was trying to demonstrate what the probability would be of the four participants EACH picking the correct polaroid with the correct initials on AND standing in the correct order AND the polaroids matching the pictures in the envelopes. This was all done with NLP

(subliminal hidden messages in the dialogue)

    Watch it again !

  • I understand the principle of NLP

I just don't see - or hear - what he did to make them do what they did.

  • Thats why you need to listen very carefully to eaxctly what he says and how he says it

  • Well, I listened, and I'm still in the dark.

I can't hear that he said anything that was out of the ordinary.

Didn't hear any hidden words, and no subliminals.

  • The word For, Four, 4 was use at least three times at the beginning

    The final order 1 was 1,3,4,2 - 4 was mentioned 3 times

  • its not a lie. why would he put it on tv if it was a lie?

  • Gee no offence but you must be really guillable if you think TV tells the truth, all the time.

It does not make mathematical sense to just literally come out with a number and say that that is the probabiliy of the system existing.

I suspect Derren said this more as an attempt misdirection, perhaps to hide a big clue in his patter. Thats the way he usually works.

They will still be thinking about the number, miss the clue (as intended) and only register it "subliminally"

  • you have a strange mind

  • Not really, if you come out with a number and "just say" thats its a probability without explaining how you arrived at the answer then that is a) questionable and b) not mathematical at all.

I know exactly how Derren operates to a degree, I have read similar books too him. I am not a performer though.

TV rarely tells the truth, remember when you watch Derren, you are watching an edit of what actually occurred at the time, otherwise it would not be good TV - would it.

  • you have a strange mind

  • show dem skeptics

  • Hee hee, love the massive lie of "1.48 billion to one probability that a system could exist". It's total rubbish, doesn't make any sense mathematically, but he makes it sound like the words 'improbable' and 'probable' ARE applicable to the existence of this 'system'.

  • i did the maths the 1.48 billion is right idiot the system does exist and i dont tink that derren brown would lie or fake something.

  • Ok and what maths did you use exactly. There a lots of betting systems I use one myself, with reasonable results and if you look in the paper every weekend, you can find several. All of them exist. How goodthey are is another thing entirely

  • Wrong actually 1.48 billion relates ONLY to the 4 NLP occurences ALL being probable at the same time. That IS ALL this figure relates to nothing else. Listen to what he says carefully.

so having arrived at 1.48 billion being the probability of all 4 NLP occurrences being probable, where exactly is the mathematics that calculates the probability of a system existing IN ORDER TO COMPARE TO the 1.48 billion for the 4 NLP occurrences, answer there isn't any.

  • ive always hated probability. there is no definate amount of probability for anything.

  • Well there is providing it always adds up to 100% However if you are talking about something like the universe, which we do not know how big it is and say looking for extra-terrestial life then it becomes more difficult, as the earth is expanding and the moon is moving away from us at 3.5cm a year.

Stephen Hawking, wrote the book "A Brief History Of Time", explains how to fuse the theory of the "very large", space with the theory of the "very small", quantum physics - to get the answer !

  • Massively improvable, yes; however, Derren had a controlled environment and knew the persons he invited and he handed out the envelopes, and wrote the numbers on the back and so forth, things he can't do with the horses. His system works when he is in control.

  • Lovely paradox in ther last line of your comment. "His system works when he is in control". It would be a bit silly him demonstrating a "system" where he was not in control !! he he

  • four minutes (literally) on google shows that all four names are associated with those jobs, and two also had pictures of the same people here. i can't imagine the other two would take kindly to being impersonated on tv, either..

  • i see your point, but i promise you that isnt the case. he is a genius - not an actor or a fake.

  • well you are right..but derren brown is 1 of the most genial magician/mentalist/hypnotiest and mind manipulator and he's a genious of his work..and..well..i know how his mind tricks work and i can confirm that what u saw is true but of course......your skeptic is totally understandable

  • 4 Black Dots, he simply uses Gary Kurtz Ultimate Chair Prediction. As he also does in episode 1 of Trick or Treat. Everything else...not to sure!

  • just highly improbable. lol

  • Now, given that Derren got all the photographs and the numbers on the backs of them correctly, what is the conditional probability that he did it all merely by guessing and just getting extremely "lucky"?

  • Possible, yes--just highly improbable!

  • Massivly Improbable.

  • more than...

  • well I was by no means suspecting what he did. I was enjoying the repitition of saying 'highly improbable'

  • Remind anyone else of the infinite improbability drive from hitchiker's guide?

  • I think the most astonishing thing is that once he bought them back from the black spots (back in a 1,2,3,4 order looking at the whiteboard), he THEN revealed that the numbers on the back of the photos were the same as that horribly long number. So what that means is that he knew ALL ALONG which photos they'd choose, so he could write on them in order.

He also said (before they chose) not to choose depending on if their name reminded them of anyone.

    We Australian devotees are gobsmacked!

  • Well i guess if you tell someone NOT to do somethingthere is a fair chance they will subconsciously or otherwise. If you tell little Johnny NOT to take the sweets - what is the betting that he will ? - G'day Oz

  • Does anyone know the significance of eyes in this programme? At one point Derren says disgUISE and opens his eyes widely; there are eye diagrams in the coin tossing scene; and there are all those light reflections shaped ike pound signs in various closeups.

  • I laughed so hard when she found out it was a setup

  • Damn this is NLP on steroids.

  • That's what DB wants you to think!

  • Nothing to do with NLP at all. Tell me where exactly is the NLP ?

  • This would only work if DB influenced the subjects to choose the envelopes.

I don't know how he did it. If there is an alternate theory, I would be interested in hearing it. I don't think he performed this experiment 1.4 billion times.

  • It might be worth listening to the dialogue very carefully

  • 00:06 "Just put your hand up when you have chosen 1"

    00:12 "All got 1"

00:15 "Unclip theeee (long 3 letter word) pictures"

00:29 "Come and stand on one of these 4 black spots"

00:33 "Any one of these 4"

    just a few observations

  • nlp does it again, very imaginative use of standard techniques, i love him thought!!!

  • 'Mesmerised' how right she is.

  • I am so happy you uploaded this.

  • You are most Welcome

  • Brilliant. Were there any new season of derren brown released?

  • yesterday!

  • He does not really do "seasons" such he tends to tour a lot and do one or two very well planned tricks a year

  • I watched the show and you Sir are a complete idiot

  • In what way ?

  • dude i was only jokin

  • Erm, well we will because it explains it all in the last part. Fool

  • THATS MY SISTER ON THERE...KHADISHA

  • Derren bs*ing people with fake unconditional probabilities, lovely! :-)

  • please can we have the rest!!! thank you

  • This is fantastic! Is there more?
