Rakim is a way better pure "Rapper". On a technical level (ex: vocab, rhyme structure, multi-syllabic, etc...) he is better than Pac ever was in that category.

@Mystikal22693 It all depends on what you want from music, that more than anything else is going to decide who was a "better".
Rakim is a way better pure "Rapper". On a technical level (ex: vocab, rhyme structure, multi-syllabic, etc...) he is better than Pac ever was in that category.
But 2Pac was probably a way better "Artist". If you look at music being art Pac definitely had the advantage there. Whenever you hear his music you felt what he felt, whether it was anger....................

Not saying that Pac was a crap lyricist or Rakim's music had no soul. It's just how I view the differences between the two.

I would like to personally thank the uploader of this, and the tags that were used. As I originally (2 years ago?) got to this video from looking up the 8 Mile Soundtrack R.A.K.I.M. track, this was back before I knew hip hop... and this song here made me change my whole way of thinking. @5StarsForYouu Rakim's Paid in Full is the greatest hip hop album of all time. better than Illmatic better than Enter the Wu Tang better than any album ever made. If u hear Rakim and Nas's records then u would know Nas took his stye from Rakim and made a few changes to it. to say that Rakim was lame in the 1980s shows that u dont really listen to hip hop. Illmatic was one of the greatest albums of all time but Paid in Full was better than Illmatic. guess u probably havent even heard Paid in Full
