New method of downloading your own video....

1. Click your name at the top right corner.

2. It should say MY ACCOUNT and click Videos (2nd Option)

3. It will direct you to a page with all your videos.

4. Under the video you want to download, there should be buttons In order Edit ,Insight ,and an arrow.

5. Click the arrow button and a drop down box should pop up. At the bottom, Download MP4 should be there. Click it!

Note, the video HAS TO BE PUBLIC. Like so others can see!

Get a Youtube downloader. There are lots, both online and offline. I have Internet Download Manager installed and there is a download button for virtually all videos that play on the internet. It's paid but you can get it for free (*cough cough* piratebay *cough cough*). Or if you have Firefox, just go to add-ons and search for "youtube downloader", choose one from the many results that will appear and install.

I'm trying to make a thank you video to every one that has been in my videos, and some of those aren't on my current laptop and are probably wiped out by viruses on the past computers and then we gave that computer to my grandma, over 2000 miles away. yes, you CAN download others' vids as mp4s. check out my favorites list for a vid from a TV producer who explains that google/youtube offers a free activeX for such. you needn't buy the software offered on the google page ad issue--scroll past all that. but the procedure is a bit clunky--you'll be able to figure it out. don't worry about the "warning" about a "dangeros" activeX you system might pop up. while the vid you want is playing, select from your favorite URL (yahoo, etc.) list....

You can enabled and disable people from embedding your YouTube video on third party websites.

The MP4 download button continues to appear and disappear on my end. YouTube might still be working on bugs or something.

No, the purpose of this is that if you don't have the hard copy anymore you can still download a copy via YouTube. It's actually really convenient and smart.
