me and my friends turned off our phones, didnt use the computer and watched tv for a whole day and smoked that whole day, just to get a taste in how it was like to live in the 70s.
Think about it, if SOPA happens, this could be our way of life again. The only bad thing is we'll have to get ourhomework done out of books and encyclopedias instead of google and wikipedia.
Could you imagine Dazed and Confused "2010's" style? most of the kids would be glued to their phones texting.....and I don't wanna get into the cars...instead of hearing the sound of a loud V8, we would be hearing the sound of a fart coffee can muffler on a Honda Civic...
I swear, the USA as a whole has been completely pussified by all this political correctness bullshit. If we had been as big as pussies during world war 2 as we are today Hitler would have chewed us up and spit us out. The country needs to get backk to not being so up tight about everything and just letting people have a good time. We have so many laws and political correctness these days that even going outside without shoes is bound to offend someone.
They would always have to get them water, put the tackling dummies away, ect. Its was just how it was, the senoirs hazed the freshman, and once those freshmen became senoirs they did the same thing. Then the school board ruled that it was a form of bullying and any senoir "bullying" a freshman would be immediatley kicked off the team. To us it wasnt bullying, it was a sort of rite of passage. The problem is people are such big pussies these days.
My dad would tell me stories about how the few cops that were patrolling the town 30 years ago would actually follow you home after you left the bar to make sure you got home saftely or if you were really fucked up they actually gave you rides home. And in school we had a zero tolerence rule on bullying which was pathetic. I remember in football the senoirs would always pick a freshman to be their "football bitch" for the year and they would carry their pads and shit for them.
@shadow102811 Haha, I swear your desciption here matches my town perfectly. We have a police force of 8 cops for a town of 1,800 people, all white people too. And the cops every friday and saturday night are just circling around the bar and are hell bent on getting people for drunk driving. Nobody ever goes up town anymore and pretty much the town is dead after 9 pm which 15 years earlier was when everybody started to arrive.
Now; you don't hang out in the classroom and talk on the last day of school, you do finals. Football and other sports not only make you sign shit, they make you piss in a cup. Paddling and hazing? That's called bullying now, the queers fucked us over with that.
No parent goes on a romantic vacation alone, they go on a family vacation because they "know" their kids.
All "rec buildings" are accompanied with adults now
Wait there are no rec buildings anymore, just lilkid clubs playin lmfGAYo!
If I can elaborate. Its like the 60s were when everybody starts to arrive, and crack their first beers. The 70s are when everybody starts to get buzzed and starts feeling good. The 80s are when you know you are drunk and are having a great time. The 90s are when you are fucked up and wild. The early 00s are when the party starts to wind down and everybody leaves or passes out or falls asleep. This current generation is the next moring when you are hungover and everything sucks.
@metathus1488 You know what we should do? Invite everyone for a new crazy pary...2012 can be the start of the new 70´s man, we just need to act! Lets bring the good times back people! ((sorry for my bad english)).
@Mrster Dude, nobody will ever look back on this current generation of bieber, jersey shore, rebecca black, twilight, lady gaga, kesha, and shitty hollywood remakes and say it was a fun decade. This decade is by far the shittiest generation to ever live.
Haha. I'm just saying. I'm sure there were a lot of people then who were indifferent to the generation they lived in. There will be those in the future who will look back on this decade wanting to experience it (believe it or not).
@Mrster so hard to believe. I mean, honestly, doesnt this generation seem like a big ball of useless shit and has ripped off everything form the past 4 decades? They have no orginality, nobody can sing without autotune, and they are the first generation that has the nightmare known as social networking. They are nothing but braindead, loser, wannabe poser pussies who cant come up with an original idea so they ripoff great ideas from the 60s 70s 80s and 90s.
Maybe shit will get worse later on, hence this will look better relatively speaking. That's the way it works. Every decade has its fair share of shitty music too. ;)
@Mrster haha, I dont see how anything could possibly be worse. Like I am not trying to argue or fight, but I think it can only get better. I think we will look back at this generation 30 years from now and say that was the lowpoint of the world. To me the 60s through the 90s were a giant party, with the early 00s the end of it where everybody goes home or passes out. Now we are suffering a terrible hangover from the great party. Hopefully it doesn last long.
This movie is meant to be watched on acid, I had no idea it was an acid movie until last night, I watched it and it changed my life. This has always been one of my favorites, but now it is my favorite movie because I understand the meaning and morals of the movie, wow it really is so much more than just a teenstoner film
Out of all the movies I've seen, and I promise, I have seen a lot, this is one of the best and underrated (I don't know how the hell it could be) movies ever made. It's one of those movies that just never gets old and everytime I watch it, I still enjoy it just as much as the first time I saw it.

1:25 First day of my Senior year this year. Standing at the corner with my friends and all these hot little freshmen girls walk by and I just said that line. Love this movie
Everyone says "Man I wish that was my childhood. Just chillin with stoners and hippies smoking weed and listening to good music". Don't you do that now? That's what me and my friends do: smoke weed, listen to music, and hang out. We ARE that generation. Don't you get it man? Every generation of youth is one of new and strange culture. It just happens it's getting more and more consumerized as time goes on. 60's cultural revolution didn't die. It evolved. Jefferson Airplane became 1200 Micrograms
@ahhhhjjjj Yea but back then you could do crazy shit and cops wouldn't be immediately called or people wouldn't be waiting to sue you. I agree with you but the vibe this movie gives off makes it seem so much better.
@ahhhhjjjj The 60s cultural revolution didn't die, that's why the U.S. is politically correct and sucks today. What hippies? Hippies were mostly spoiled college middle class kids who wanted to get back to nature and bring peace to the world. I was a child of the 70s and dont recall any children being invited to smoke dope and listen to music with stoners and hippies. Get your facts straight, fool.
@chroniclerofthe70s Amanita's are legal. Psilocybins are not legal where I live. New Mexico and Florida are the only states I know where psilocybe mushrooms are legal.
@ahhhhjjjj I was referring to mushrooms in general not their mycotoxins. There are thousands of species of mushrooms not to mention the genetic variation within all natural populations in which some produce non-toxic or mildy toxic isoforms of mycotoxins. What species of Amanita and Psilocybe are illegal?
@chroniclerofthe70s Amanita Muscaria is perfectly legal to buy online, to cultivate, and harvest, All Psilocybin mushrooms are illegal in the United States with the exception of New Mexico and Florida.
Seen this movie at least 100+ times and its still not old this was the greatest movie ever made and every time i watch it i get depressed thinking about why i have to be alive now....
and they should make a sequel 4 years May 28. 1980 with the 4 main freshmen
@nerfballs2000 when would it take place? American Graffitti came out in the 70s but took place in the 50s...D&C came out in the 90s but took place in the 70s...so if a movie came out in the 2010s, it would take place in the 90s, I guess...
I watched this movie cause I heard it was good. But I really don't see what's so great about it. There's not much of a story. Character development is average. Dialogue is whatever. Can someone open up my eyes or something lol ?
@gdrocker93 glad you asked. well, more than the plot, which i agree, is pretty insubstantial, this movie is praised for being a true look into the teenage wasteland experienced by many kids growing up in this decade. almost a celebration for the drugs, sex, rock n' roll, and altogether nothingness that was standard fare for teens without computer, nothing on television, and a miniscule amount of parental guidance.
@hankman3000 The lack of a plot helps the movie, if you ask me. Too many characters would've probably been cut if they had to work a plot into the movie. I mean that as a compliment, btw. I don't see it so much as a look into the teenage wasteland of that or any era, it's themes are just as relevant today as when the movie was released.
@gdrocker93 The people who lived it get a sense of nostalgia while the kids who didn't wish they lived during an era with lots of freedom and lack of political correctness.
@gdrocker93 It's because its a good movie and back then that kind of shit happened. I graduated from HS in 2000, but seen pictures of hazing out of my aunts and older brothers and sisters yearbook going on. Just good ol fashion fun, getting stoned and having a blast. Real life, no technology. And the style was better back then too. Its coming back because there is nothing else to come up with. Go oldies!
If you are a truth seeker, search "Truth Contest" in Google and click on the 1st result, then open The Present and read what it says. Everyone needs to see this. The Present will turn this world right-side up if it reaches enough people. You will see what I mean when you read the first page

Hippies were mostly spoiled college middle class kids who wanted to get back to nature and bring peace to the world. I was a child of the 70s and dont recall any children being invited to smoke dope and listen to music with stoners and hippies. Get your facts straight, fool.

@chroniclerofthe70s Which is why LSD and mushrooms are legal right?
ahhhhjjjj 4 months ago
@ahhhhjjjj The synthetic drug LSD is illegal while mushrooms are legal.
chroniclerofthe70s 4 months ago
@chroniclerofthe70s Amanita's are legal. Psilocybins are not legal where I live. New Mexico and Florida are the only states I know where psilocybe mushrooms are legal.
ahhhhjjjj 4 months ago
@ahhhhjjjj I was referring to mushrooms in general not their mycotoxins. There are thousands of species of mushrooms not to mention the genetic variation within all natural populations in which some produce non-toxic or mildy toxic isoforms of mycotoxins. What species of Amanita and Psilocybe are illegal?

@nerfballs2000 when would it take place? American Graffitti came out in the 70s but took place in the 50s...D&C came out in the 90s but took place in the 70s...so if a movie came out in the 2010s, it would take place in the 90s, I guess...

I watched this movie cause I heard it was good. But I really don't see what's so great about it. There's not much of a story. Character development is average. Dialogue is whatever. Can someone open up my eyes or something lol ?
gdrocker93 5 months ago
@gdrocker93 glad you asked. well, more than the plot, which i agree, is pretty insubstantial, this movie is praised for being a true look into the teenage wasteland experienced by many kids growing up in this decade. almost a celebration for the drugs, sex, rock n' roll, and altogether nothingness that was standard fare for teens without computer, nothing on television, and a miniscule amount of parental guidance.
hankman3000 4 months ago
@hankman3000 The lack of a plot helps the movie, if you ask me. Too many characters would've probably been cut if they had to work a plot into the movie. I mean that as a compliment, btw. I don't see it so much as a look into the teenage wasteland of that or any era, it's themes are just as relevant today as when the movie was released.
brinpol 4 months ago
@brinpol i hear that. same principles are showing up now as prominent as they were then
hankman3000 4 months ago
@gdrocker93 The people who lived it get a sense of nostalgia while the kids who didn't wish they lived during an era with lots of freedom and lack of political correctness.
chroniclerofthe70s 4 months ago
