I think if OC had that right promotion behind him that this song could have put him into the mainstream and made him more well known. Kind of how "If I Ruled the World" did in '96 for Nas.
@ZeusAVI yeah O.C could've been much bigger than he was. He could have been a legend like Nas or Common, but who cares about him today? Nobody. It's a damn shame.
This song always put a smile on my face. Now I know why. She is singing with a smile. you can feel it.
Amazing lyrics. Album is not only one of the best of the 90's but one of the best ever. Jewelz is easily a top 10 hip hop album of all time IN MY OPINION.
@harley1211 Man,you got alot to explore if those three are your limits.Try Warren G,Diabolic,W.C,Mos Def,Wu tang Clan...you got alot too hear man.Just look up good underground or old rappers on here or something.
O.C. was interviewed in the book "HOW TO RAP: The Art & Science of the Hip-Hop MC"
Definitely worth checking out if you're into classic Hip-Hop and real MCing - they also interview other legends like Pharoahe Monch, Kool G Rap, Chuck D, Big Daddy Kane, etc.
@gerryg1982 he, gangstarr, dj quik, too short, and e-40 alongwith organized konfusion and krs-one are some of the most underrated rappers, this song and video brings me tears of joy, because this is real shit.
yeah, this shit is dope...really some of this music got me into hiphop when I was just a teen. I'm realizing how lucky I was to grow up with GOOD hip hop, even GREAT hip hop. What I'm saying is listen to this track--keep listening--the kids these days here something very different, and not nearly as ill...real hip hop with real lyrics and dope beats.
But hey, 1/2 these youtubers messaging on these boards listen to garbage anywho. In fact, if you're reading this, you probably are that person.
