Bit childish calling Reading shit, everyone. Look over you tube there are hundreds of vids of thousands of people jumping in unison at reading, singing every word. One bad gig from a average band does not mean a whole festival is shit.
It's simple, Reading appreciated the other bands on that night more than Leeds e.g. Billy Talent. KOL got pissy due to a few idiots at the front and went and slagged us off to the northerners. Lethal Bizzle, Gallows and Frank Turner (if im not mistaken) all declared reading Reading the winner.
Also met some scottish folk in reading , who had come down, PAST LEEDS, to be in attendance at reading.
Add that to the fact that Readings the origional and bigger, and sorry Leeds, but you dont compare.
I went to Reading that year.. They were playing shocking and people were genuinely going nuts for them, all this mainstream songs only thing is bullshit everyone was so pumped for them and they threw it back in our faces, too bad because they ruined a LOT of peoples nights.. I still respect them as a band but seriously they need to get off their high horse..

They didnt do anything at Reading to get the crowd hyped up! I was there singing and so were all the crowd around me to most songs... only thing was good is their songs... Funny how the rest of reading crowds were amazing yet here they werent... poor show by them at reading im afraid!

I went to see them at the 02 recently and was surprised he didn't have a go then. When they started 'Trani' me and my mates went mad, 75% of the crowd went to the bar! some people even left after they'd heard 'Sex On Fire'. Plastic fans.

Just a heads up mate. Every band on the main stages get paid to play at festivals. The smaller "introducing" stages usually are smaller bands promoting themselves for free.
trust me, if youre KOL youre getting paid to play a festival! not the point though, these guys are damn good and deserve all the success they get. there will always be critics, and not everyone will always love your music. but their sound is undeniably good... so i say hell yeah KOL! cant wait to catch a live show.

Some of their songs are brilliant, but after Reading festival and now just discovering they all go by their middle names I've come to the conclusion they're either on some very strong drugs or just complete bell ends. Could also be a combination of the 2 I suppose.

I agree I was a fan since Aha shake and so were most of the people I was at reading with, my section of the crowd knew all the songs, but he still gave that fucking speech, and made a fool of himself as a result, why should get pissed at the fact he has an influx of new money from SoF, even if the fans aren't true fans, it doesn't change that their paying him.

Be nice to see more of Leeds on TV next year as although Reading has more history Leeds is easily now its equal if not better (Least its not next to a fucking motorway).
i was at reading and i was in an area where the sound was awesome and i really enoyed the performance and so did everyone that i was with. There were just areas where it wasn't great

They were amazing in June at Manchester. The whole crowd sang and danced to every song of theres, I could hardly hear KOL! Also, there were about 10 crowd surfers that had to be taken out. The atmosphere was unbelievable.

I'm so glad that the people at Leeds showed some love for the Kings, reading was a joke...I've been a KOL fan since 2003 and have seen them as much as I can, even when there set was just 39 minutes long, I think it's a joke that ever since there new album people have jumped on the Sex on Fire bandwagon, totally agree with Imlikearingleader, was at the gigs at the O2 and was defo in the minority that sang to every song, I just hope the Kings know there true fans are still there supporting them..

if you WERE one of the die hard fans that turned up to reading to see them, you'll understand caleb was addressing the majority of the crowd, not the minority that don't only recognise the new album. i've read so many fan posts whining that caleb doesn't appreciate his fans, that his comments hurt them, that he didn't appreciate that it was cold and they'd been there for hours - caleb DOES appreciate his fans. there just weren't that many in the crowd at reading.

i was right at the back for this (at leeds) and the atmosphere was brilliant, when they came on i got pushed quite far down as well, i was on my own for the whole set cz i got seperated from my mate in the push, still they were my highlight of the festival, im glad they played their older stuff as well so they pleased fans from the older days and also the newer fans by playing sex on fire etc, hopefully the more recent fans will take the time to listen to the older albums n not just OBTN

I have such a downer on Kings Of Leon now. That was the most un-called for, rediculous thing. They came on stage, after probably being sat around all day, while we've been stood up all day, outside in the crowds. They made little effort onstage, stood still like the whole time... and expect us to go crazy!? It was fricking freezing! They didnt do anything at Reading to get the crowd hyped up! I was there singing and so were all the crowd around me to most songs... only thing was good is their songs... Funny how the rest of reading crowds were amazing yet here they werent... poor show by them at reading im afraid!

I went to see them at the 02 recently and was surprised he didn't have a go then. When they started 'Trani' me and my mates went mad, 75% of the crowd went to the bar! some people even left after they'd heard 'Sex On Fire'. Plastic fans.

Just a heads up mate. Every band on the main stages get paid to play at festivals. The smaller "introducing" stages usually are smaller bands promoting themselves for free.

trust me, if youre KOL youre getting paid to play a festival! not the point though, these guys are damn good and deserve all the success they get. there will always be critics, and not everyone will always love your music. but their sound is undeniably good... so i say hell yeah KOL! cant wait to catch a live show.

Some of their songs are brilliant, but after Reading festival and now just discovering they all go by their middle names I've come to the conclusion they're either on some very strong drugs or just complete bell ends. Could also be a combination of the 2 I suppose.

I agree I was a fan since Aha shake and so were most of the people I was at reading with, my section of the crowd knew all the songs, but he still gave that fucking speech, and made a fool of himself as a result, why should get pissed at the fact he has an influx of new money from SoF, even if the fans aren't true fans, it doesn't change that their paying him.

the reason why he was pissed was because there was a soun fault at reading, and most of the crowd wouldnt hear peoperly. we had heavy winds and the crowd werent rocking as much as he wanted. hence why he got pissed. nothing to do with the people not liking kings of leon! i like kinds of leon and went to see them playing at reading and the sound was rubbish. so that is why...

id just like to say i was one of the people that was there for all the songs and sang as loud as i possibly could! i love the fact that KOL said what they said, i was haiting that there was about 3 others excluding my mates that sang along. the reading crowd this year was shit!!! the festival as a whole was appauling!!!

Im actually a little ashamed to be a southerner! Leeds gave the boys much more love! Even if the crowd dont know the songs, they could of still got into the music...thats what festivals are all about, right? Saw KOL at O2 in june and was right at the back! Hopefully caleb has annoyed all the new fans who will go away so I can get decent tickets for their gigs again! I know, Im selfish! Lol ;-)

They were amazing in June at Manchester. The whole crowd sang and danced to every song of theres, I could hardly hear KOL! Also, there were about 10 crowd surfers that had to be taken out. The atmosphere was unbelievable.

I'm so glad that the people at Leeds showed some love for the Kings, reading was a joke...I've been a KOL fan since 2003 and have seen them as much as I can, even when there set was just 39 minutes long, I think it's a joke that ever since there new album people have jumped on the Sex on Fire bandwagon, totally agree with Imlikearingleader, was at the gigs at the O2 and was defo in the minority that sang to every song, I just hope the Kings know there true fans are still there supporting them..

nah, thats just wrong. I was in the front 2 rows, the first 5 or 6 rows sang to every song. I agree the reading crowd for kings was shit but it wasnt the front rows. It was the middle. Al the kings fans shouldv got to the front and it wudv been alot better. But it was so crowded, people were blacking out and shit cos it was so packed so i understand y people dint go forward.
On the whole tho the reading crowd is better. Apart from kings this year, pretty much every 1 says tht, frank turner 4 eg

anybody who was at reading that night and takes offense to what caleb said is dillusional. agree with 'xQueenofLeonx' one hundred percent. wasn't at reading but watched the live coverage on the tv, why is it you guys only went crazy for sex on fire?! there's more to that band than that song. when i saw them at wembley earlier this year, when tracks like milk and the bucket came on, i had 'fans' asking me what tracks they were because they didn't even know.

if you WERE one of the die hard fans that turned up to reading to see them, you'll understand caleb was addressing the majority of the crowd, not the minority that don't only recognise the new album. i've read so many fan posts whining that caleb doesn't appreciate his fans, that his comments hurt them, that he didn't appreciate that it was cold and they'd been there for hours - caleb DOES appreciate his fans. there just weren't that many in the crowd at reading.

Half the crowd was full of pissed 16 year old chavs, who jumped on the sex on fire bandwagon, reading is sposed to be a prestigious festival, and the crowd were shit!! I was at the 02 seeing kings of leon and me and my friends were the only ones singing to the old stuff, caleb actually sed thank god for the real fans!!

I went to Reading Festival and oh my god- the crowd were SHIT. It was the 11th time i've seen KOL and was so disappointed with the crowd for the 3rd time in a row- people really do turn up for 2 songs and have driven the real fans away. Hopefully their new album will shake some of the newbies away

if you're going to write songs like use somebody and sex on fire, songs that are clearly written to gain mainstream success, don't throw a hissy fit when people don't know every fucking word to red morning light etc. you can't have it both ways. obtn must have made them three times as much as every record before and this is because they've sold out. if it bothers them that much don't play sex on fire and use somebody.

i was right at the back for this (at leeds) and the atmosphere was brilliant, when they came on i got pushed quite far down as well, i was on my own for the whole set cz i got seperated from my mate in the push, still they were my highlight of the festival, im glad they played their older stuff as well so they pleased fans from the older days and also the newer fans by playing sex on fire etc, hopefully the more recent fans will take the time to listen to the older albums n not just OBTN

I have such a downer on Kings Of Leon now. That was the most un-called for, rediculous thing. They came on stage, after probably being sat around all day, while we've been stood up all day, outside in the crowds. They made little effort onstage, stood still like the whole time... and expect us to go crazy!? It was fricking freezing! If they don't put on a good show how they expect us to? >:\ All this recent fame has gone to their heads. Saw them in 2007 and they were brilliant. No cocky talk.
