you dont need two boats to run a trotline and if you know what your doing you can fillet a catfish without skining it but you wasted a shit load of meat so you need to learn how to do it first before you make a video of it and when you get a catfish on your trotline dont start screaming because it will spook the fish and hes off the hook
i would like to start off saying i am 15 years old and i also like to trotline< some suggestions would be to tighten ur trotline it makes it more effective also another thing u might would like would be jugging it is also very fun. i usually catch about the same size cats if you are looking to catch anything bigger i would say use live bream. good luck keep it up ill sub

i disagree the best bait is shrimp it's 4 dollars for 60-80 shrimp and you only get catfish none of the little bluegill your filet is the only way to do it try shrimp or danny kings punch bait it works good also you should try some juglines and anchor it with a brick and put it where you think you will catch cat fish and do trial and error see where the best fish are at and you can catch solid 10 pounders good job.FISH ON!!!!!
hey man i got a good tip for you to get better fillets and less bloddy filletts before you clean them cut the tail off and hang them up for like 2-4 hours and it will bleed out and you wont have bloody fillets and they tase a lot better and you dont have to soak them --hope this helped good luck fishin boys

The secret to trot lines is a very tight line. I use floats in the shallows and as the water deepens I use weights to keep it down. The fish hook better on a tight line. Think of setting the hook. Tight line. Great vid! Sharpen that knife and pull the handel off the board. That will allow the blade to ride along the skin better. Next time at the lake I'll make a fillet clip.
I agree about the belly meat, however I stopped eating it after a report came out that showed a majority of the mercury in fish is in the belly meat., better check that out for yourself

ok you need to tighten your line.
keep it closer to the water when you check it.
you need to bait with live perch.
and you cant filet for to save your life. you are missing on alot of meat closer to the head .
