Drilling for more oil WILL NOT fix our decaying roads nor get us out of a traffic jam!In fact, it's quite possible this very moment to ship the oil on our exisiting railroads and hgihways-now that's where jobs could be filled immendiately by our railroad and trucking industries; not wiating ten years for a pipeline to be built!
Price of fuel will not drop ,,, just like if no-one had aNY CAR WRECKS , ins WOULD NOT DROP ,,, IF EVERYONEWOULD STOP STEALING , STORE PRICES WOULD NOT DROP .
THING is TONES MORE JOBS - USA money would stay here in USA , not go to a bunch of MUSLIM countries .
PS it cost a fortune to ship oil to us , Maybe price would drop a little , being already here .
It may not immediately reduce gas prices, but the point here is this project is a job creator. For several thousand industrial jobs that a project of this size creates, it stimulates the state economies of many states. Hotel rooms, restaurants, department stores, etc. Bottomline, the President has an opportunity here to ignore the fraudulent claims of the environmental lobbiests and take real action for America and although, this is just a small step in faith toward bi-partisan-ship.
It may not reduce gas prices( time will tell & then how will we know for sure w/ so many variables) but we will not be at the mercy of price hikes from the middle east which eventually will come. It is a no-brainer though. It will produce jobs, it will open the shale oil (I think that is the name) in the Dakotas and allow that to be piped. What is obvious is that Obama is holding it up until after the election to curry favor with his followers. At this time of economic collapse that is wrong.

Don't understand why we need to rely on oil from outside the US. Drill our own. We need to do more in our great country instead of relying on others.

I will bet 100 dollars that having this Canadian oil will not lower gas prices.
