Music for a while, shall all your Cares beguile; wond'ring how your pains were eas'd, and disdaining to be pleas'd, till Alecto free the Dead from their Eternal Band, till the Snakes drop from her Head, and the Whip from out her Hand. Music for a while, shall all your Cares beguile.
I remember at Hvorostovsky's recital in Sydney Australia, he sang this as his final encore. After an incredible recital displaying high drama and emotion he closed with such beautiful restraint. Back then I was a young student, sitting in the front row in awe of him. He must have noticed my wide eyed incredulity and enthusiasm and he suppressed a small smile... I'd love a copy of this recital... !
Thanks!
