There are many bad arguments that people could fall into when you advocate not building the mosque. some are worse than others like those that may stem from hate, fear,equating islam/terror etc. The only "right" argument against the mosque is timing. It is too soon and may upset 9/11 victims or NYC residents. That's why my gut tells me it is better to vote against the mosque. In a perfect world law abiding muslims couldn't be linked to extremists because they claim the same religon.

There are many bad arguments that people could fall into when you advocate not building the mosque. some are worse than others like those that may stem from hate, fear,equating islam/terror etc. The only "right" argument against the mosque is timing. It is too soon and may upset 9/11 victims or NYC residents. That's why my gut tells me it is better to vote against the mosque. In a perfect world law abiding muslims couldn't be linked to extremists because they claim the same religon.

In fact one of them was a Palestinian human rights group made up of Palestinians. Palestinians are fighting with Israel over land. Israel is a tiny county, about the size of New Jersey. No other Middle Eastern country offered to give up some of their land to the Palestinians. Do some research, you will find out some very interesting facts

@aynaristo I think that You are making a mistake, because when Americans or NATO, bombed Serbs, for war in Bosnia, they did not bomb Serbia, but only Serb military installations in Bosnia, i think only around Sarajevo, which Serbs were not been able to take after 4 year of surrounding that town. But we would survive without those bombing, like we survived 4 years before that... And Zenica, was never close to the fighting, so i don't need to thank anybody but Bosnian military.

I didn't say that all religion except islam are peacefull. I dont think any organized religion is especially peacefull. but at the moment people are going around calling islam a religion of peace and I dont understand how that is true.

We may ore may not be religion of peace. I'm not stating that we are, or that we aren't. But, maybe you don't see it because you only look what extremists are doing. Broaden your horizon. 0.01% of extremists don't represent 99.9% of the Muslim population. They sure as hell don't represent my point of view. I have Christian, Jewish, Orthodox Christian, and friend of other religions. And I'm proud of that fact.

distinction between Muslim extremists and other Muslims. "Muslims killed us on 9/11" is literally true but in the context of a conversation about the mosque it seems to imply (at least least in Whoopi and Goldber's eyes) that that islam is the enemy, rather than just muslim extemists.

@aynaristo You don't seem to grasp the fact that freedom of religion is bigger than any security threat and it will NEVER be challenged. Taking away freedom of religion would lead to the end of free speech in general which would place our nation with the likes of Saudi Arabia and Iran.

@GoGatorsx15x Yes, the Bill of rights is the core foundation of the United States. However, it is science and technology that keeps us free. If Hitler's atomic scientist had developed the first Hydrogen bombs and utilized them during the WWII, this would not be America but some large Tectonic Empire. It's easy to focus in on the Bill of rights when you haven't faced a national pandemic or the depression of the 1930s. Before the 1940's, the United States was very vulnerable to attack.

This is a question I asked over a week ago to a self proclaimed christian who stated that christians were peaceful and that the acts committed in the name of Christianity during the middle ages should be disregarded. I ask, what then makes a true christian. The bible passage " thou shall not suffer a witch to live " was interpreted at the time by self proclaimed christians they should kill people who practice witchcraft based on their biased tests.

Unfortunately, most american do equate Muslims with terrorists. I do not agree with this view of muslims. The evidence is clear, the vast majority of muslims are peaceful people. This fact, however, does not falsify the fact that terrorist acts have committed by a very small minority of muslims in the name of Allah.

@kenzo4000 Do you need to read the Torah to believe? If someone communicates the passages of the Torah to you. Do you need to read the Torah in order to adhere to it's tenants? There are many ways to communicate. Many christians do not attend church on Sunday yet call themselves christians.
I suggest you talk to an english teacher or professor.

@chroniclerofthe70s You pretty much do need the read the Torah and interpret it correctly in order to truly consider yourself of that religion. It cannot just be communicated to you because you need to analyze it yourself and chose to believe it.
Also yes you don't have to attend church to be a christian, but you do have to have some knowledge of the religion. If you have absolutely no clue what christianity represents and have never read a bible, how can you call yourself a christian?
