  • I liked the part where they said "superhero"

  • ........Exoticly Erotic And Aquatic Superhero?

  • The only piece of footage that wasn't from the era of the song was that of Daredevil from a 90s episode of Spider-Man.

  • @YoshiAngemon, Yep, but there wasn't a Daredevil cartoon in the 1960's, so that's why I used the later footage.

  • The motion comics of their time!

  • "Super powered from their foreheads to their toes"? Dang, wish I had me one of them fancy super powered foreheads! Actually, WNAC-TV Channel 7 in Boston used this song as the theme to their daily broadcasts of these cartoons back in 1966 and '67. They had an actor dressed as Captain America who hosted the show (pretty lame, too). Needless to say, this brings back many memories. Thanks for posting this!

  • EPIC!

  • I had this song, thnak you fior uploading, I have been searching all over. I put the lyrics online from memory as best as I could recall. Check it out on Susan Brown angelfire

  • This is really cool...I also love the early Marvel Cartoon themes, especially Thor...Thanks for posting this...

  • I was confused at first, until I realized this is not the real into to that show, which was one of my favorites. Especially offensive was using the Thing at the part where it says, "Watch them change their very shape before your nose". That was the Hulk!

  • I really WANT there to be an N. But I'm pretty sure there's not.

  • @TheBoldBroadcast I am quite certain there is no N.

  • Just curious: Do you know the songwriting credits for this and the "MMMS Theme"?

  • I never saw this, I do remember seeing still motion episodes of different marvel characters, how far we,ve come

  • Yeah, they definitely said "erotic".

  • For the record, I can hear an "n", but that might be because I'm expecting it to be there.

  • feh... this is weird.

  • "Watch them change their very shape before your nose!"

    WHAT

  • hilarious

  • catchy song lol

  • did they say "exotically erotic"?

  • That's what I thought it sounded like, too, but the actual word is "neurotic."

    -- Matt

  • It's "neurotic" in the official lyrics sheet, but I hear no faintest trace of an N.

  • @LadyDeirdre There isn't any "N" in there intentionally... It may say "neurotic" in the lyrics sheet to placate the parents, but everybody knows Namor was the most exotically erotic character in the Marvel Universe back in those days... Always running around in that speedo, with those perky eyebrows and such.

  • @TheHappyShow I don't hear no "N".

  • @TheHappyShow erratic, maybe...

  • @TheHappyShow

    I heard no N whatsoever.

  • exotically neurotic

  • Yes they did...though watch out...there are freaks lurking about who are so offended by anyone noticing this that they flame outta control...they insist it's "neurotic."

  • My Mom would'nt let me watch it..........Man Im still bummed.

She does'nt know it yet but she's going into a nurseing home for that.

  • i wish i still had my foom

  • I'm still waiting for the FOOM membership kit I ordered.

  • Where are the best superheroes ever....X-MEN

  • 0:20-0:22 right at the bottom of that poster.

  • The spider=man cartoon was the best cause he was the most popular.

  • Pretty cool.

  • Several years ago, there was a report that the entire Grantray-Lawrence Marvel Superheroes series was to be released on DVD. Anybody know if that dream will ever come true?

  • @TheMacrophiliac I know this is a response to a year old post, but I had to respond: apparently those cartoons have been released on DVD. Several people have posted cartoons from the discs on YouTube. You may be able to get them on Amazon, and I know you can get them at TVParty.

  • I got my mms card, when working in the early 80s at a comic shop when it was left with a coverless spidy 4.

  • I remember watvhing these as a kid and I am considerbly older now

  • i love this

  • Cool video. Way before my time, but a cool MSH theme.

  • tha was awesome

  • viva los marvel heroes!!!

  • wow the tune was actually catchy. It was kind of lame but still catchy though

  • I was a member of the M.M.M.S. Still have my membership card, button, those tiny comic books, and that bendable 45 rpm . . . even the envelope from Mad Ave. Anyone know who composed the tune used in Matt's splendid video (kudos, Believer!) and the themes for the '66 MS cartoons? And who were the singers?

Anyone know why the Grantray-Lawrence 'toons aren't available on DVD?

    Keep the faith!

  • I'm not sure who wrote the theme songs. I wonder if comics and cartoon writer Mark Evanier might know? He has his own site at povonline com where you can reach him. He might also be able to answer your question about Grantray-Lawrence.

    Thanks!

    -- Matt

  • Face Front!

I too am an OLD card-carrying member of the MMMS, and I still have my bendy 45 record.

  • @macnemo The reason why the cartoons are not available is the compant based in Canada did not keep copies of all the cartoons. The xerograph method they used was very cheap. And unless the fans taped it, extremely unlikey since consumer vcr's were NOT available until the mid 70's then many cartoons are lost for good. However, over time many copies turn up from affiliates, and today most people are aware of rarities like this. So, it is more likely over time copies will turn up.

  • Haha. Crazy

  • Glad you enjoyed it!

    -- Matt

  • Wait.. did I hear that right??? "An Exoticaly erotic and aquatic superhero.."... Namor is erotic??? WTF?!

  • I used to think that was the lyric, too, but someone pointed out that it's "exoticly neurotic and aquatic superhero." I listened again and that person was correct.

    -- Matt

  • Great job on that. I haven't see those intro bits since the mid-60's. Thanks for posting.

  • Thanks for watching and commenting!

    -- Matt

  • 1- The circa-1996 DD appearance almost made me piss myself.

2- At "Make Mine Marvel", Dracula and Luke Cage somehow rub shoulders with Marvel's best and brightest. That's 1970's Marvel for you, but where's Man-Thing?

  • 1- I wanted to represent Marvel's most well-known characters, and I couldn't find 1960's cartoon footage with him in it.

    2- Good question about Man-Thing.

    -- Matt

  • Exoticly erotic?

  • I used to think that was the lyric, too, but someone pointed out that it's "exoticly neurotic and aquatic superhero." I listened again and that person was correct.

    -- Matt

  • Indeed, thanks Matt

  • It suddenly dawned on me that some of this rare and classic material might be out here on YouTube... I don't care that the animation was so primitive, these shows actually put Jack Kirby et al on /television/! Now to go watch some of this... thanks.

  • Same exact experience w/ me. I've strolled thru YOUTUBE endlessly for other things, and only recently did it occur to me that this might be available. Not sure who Jack Kirby is. But if it's related to this at all, I'm curious. I've been wondering the name of the narrator. Is that him?

  • Notice how the Hulk is GREY in this? Since he was actually only miscolored for ONE issue before Stan let the colorers know he was supposed to be green it's odd.

  • I think he was actually green in the cartoon, but the poor video quality of the cartoon print makes it appear that he was colored grey in the video.

    -- Matt

    -- Matt

  • Stan said, Hulk was originaly gray but they had poor quality gray ink so it looked green after so many prints, so he decided to make hulks green color permanent, cost effective.

  • Yep, but that was in the comics. By the time the cartoons were produced, the Hulk was officially green in the comics. In the cartoons from the 1960's, Hulk was green. It's just the low quality print of the film that makes him look grey in the video.

    -- Matt

  • So in a way, it was like a complete reversal.

  • (but i wonder!) my dad is on drugs so i dont know. I think they smoked to mutch on the 70. XD

  • My dad tel me som scary shit about thise guys. they was bad as mother fuckers before i was borne.

  • MMMS member checking in. Thanks for this, I don't know if my old 45 is still playable.

  • You're welcome! Thanks for watching!

    -- Matt

  • Why, Why, Why, Why aren't these available on DVD!?

  • Yes, the Marvel Super Heros on WSNS channel 44. Was it part of the "Good Time Bunch Club" or some such thing for kids? There were two hosts, a man and woman. Their names escape me, the memory fades ...

  • did it say Nemor was Erotic? Just a question. Anyways, I'm a new marvel fan (seen every live action movie and I love Ultimate Alliance for the 360), so I thought it was nice to see what the awesome heroes looked like before I saw them. Thanks for showing me.

  • You're very welcome! Thanks for watching! And, yeah, it did say "erotic." LOL!

    -- Matt

  • Thank you, TheHappyShow! I thought they said "erotic" too, but I think it was "neurotic"! LOL!

  • You know, listening really closely again, I think you may be right! A mystery of the ages has been revealed! LOL! And it makes more sense, too!

    -- Matt

  • No problem Matt! Of course Marvel Superheroes have lots of problems with neurosis! That's what makes the ones like Spiderman, The Thing, and Prince Namor so great! Duffy!

  • i havent seen this since around 73 thank you !!!

people here in ohio didnt know what i was talkin about i use to watch on channel 32 in chicago , it may of been 44wsns

  • I'm glad you enjoyed it! It was fun for me to edit all that great cartton footage to the song from the Marvel fanclub!

    -- Matt

  • It was channel 44. I used to hate baseball season because the white sox would pre-empt my shows as a kid.

  • Thats right fellow Chicagoan channel 44 and remember ontv when we that pay tv stuff started

  • Thank you, I hadn't seen this in color for quite some time.

  • You're very welcome! Thanks for watching!

    -- Matt

  • this bring back my infance

  • I'm happy that you enjoyed it! Thanks! -- Matt

  • no,thanks to peolple like you that rescue this classics stuff.

  • Great job. Heh, I heard that Sub-Mariner bit as "erotic" as well. They really were pushing the envelope at the House of Ideas.

  • LOL! Yeah, that line threw me off, too! Thanks! -- Matt

  • Erotic or Neurotic?

  • I defintly heard Erotic, while namor's naked ass was taking a dive. ew.

  • LMAO!!!

  • "I defintly heard Erotic, while namor's naked ass was taking a dive. ew."

The actual line is "exotic-ly neurotic-ly aquatic superhero ..."

  • I think its "erratic" ( wich suits Namor´s temper, aint it?)

  • My mistake, it actually says "Neurotic", i checked the lyrics..

  • Hey dude, you really hooked that up! Too bad no one can find the original footage. BTW, I could have sworn even Dr. Doom had a theme song also during this series too?

  • I have never seen or heard a Doctor Doom theme song. If you ever find it, let me know. Thanks for commenting! -- Matt

  • Very well done. The Daredevil 90's part seems a bit out of place, but hey, I love Murdock so it doesn't matter at all. Nicely done. Thanks for keeping Wolverine out of it too. I can only deal with so much of that mangy Canadian.

  • Hi! Thank you very much! Yeah, the Daredevil animation didn't quite fit, but I wanted to include him since he was around in that era, and I couldn't find any cartoon footage of him from the period. -- Matt

  • I realize HOW OLD AM I!!!

  • LOL NICE

  • Thanks, Speedy! I'm glad you enjoyed it! -- Matt

  • The Mighty Hercules cartoons' theme described Hercules as possessing "softness in his eyes, iron in his thighs." Now, Sub-Mariner is "exotically erotic." Just what was going on here in the mid-60's (not that there's anything wrong with that)?

  • LOL! I'm not sure what was going on. :-) Thanks! -- Matt

  • No, he's "Exotically neurotic"...

  • I think it might be "exotically NEUrotic", actually, though I'm not 100½ sure.

Either way, it's a strange line to sing. I suppose they needed a rhyme for "aquatic." Xp

  • BRAVO!!!

  • Thank you very much! -- Matt

  • The description they give for Namor is a bit disturbing

  • LOL! Yeah, a bit. ;-) Thanks! -- Matt

  • Nice to see those images from the old "cartoons" made by xerography of comics. They've always inspired me.

  • Yeah, they're cool in their own way. I wish that I could've used better prints, other than what I found online. Thanks, Mysterywalker! -- Matt

  • pretty cool always been a big fan of marval

  • I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thanks! -- Matt

  • Oh man, this is just like the hidden extra on the Incredibles DVD!

    "and Mr. Skipperdo!"

  • LOL! Kinda, yeah. Thanks, Magnulus! -- Matt

  • Just the washed-out colours and the music. Just a shame there is no Cheap-o-Rama mouth animation. ^_^

  • Thanks Matt! Every time I see the fantastic four now, however, I think of the Venture Brother's version of them. I may have messed up my head. I do love the show though.

  • Thank you, Chopin! I'm glad you enjoyed the video! -- Matt

  • COOL! 5/5 ;)

  • Thanks, Larry! Much appreciated! -- Matt
