if Flash was facing an actually good Protoss than he woulda lost so bad. however Shuttle just proved that he's a terrible player, which makes Flash's loss in the first game so much worse!
damn cholera, why did you take so long to upload the second part, but gg :) ... shuttle deserved to lose, he won the first game by fluke .... he isn't really a top contender like flash, but fun to watch.. cholera tell me if your moving to toronto, we can chill bro!
at 3:40 when cholera says that the shuttle is hanging around not doing anything, yeah that make sense; the shuttle is just like the player named after it
how does the tournament go from a round of 36 to a round of 16? I mean, a round of 36 should generate 18 winning players. How do you choose the extra two players to get eliminated?
I believe the Ro36 is 12 groups of three players each with one player advancing from each group. Those 12 players are then put into groups with the top four players from the previous OSL, who get seeded into the round of 16 (in this case, Jaedong, Fantasy, Hero, and Bisu).
Well, it's really a Ro40 with 16 byes, then a Ro28 with four byes. Both of these are lumped under the same "Ro36" heading, even though it is clearly two separate rounds. However, starting with the Ro16, there are no more byes, so it becomes an ordinary single-elimination tournament.
So, you have 24 players play each other, generating 12 winners. You add 12 more players (how did these guys qualify for this?) to get 24 players again, who play each other and generate 12 players who, plus the 4 that are seeded in from the previous msl, you get a round of 16. Awesome. Complicated but awesome. How do they decide who're the 12 players who play the winners of the first round of games in the ro36? Are they just the rest of the top 16 from the previous msl?
Yes. The way you usually see it, there are twelve groups of three. Two in each group got in from the prelims (I don't think these are official pro matches), while one was in the Ro16 from the previous OSL but not the Ro4. The two unseeded pros face off to get the right to play the seeded pro. The winner of THAT match advances to the Ro16. The semifinalists from the previous OSL bye into the Ro16.
So the terminology is "Ro36 set 1, Ro36 set 2, Ro16," but it's really more like "Ro40, Ro28, Ro16."
the protoss doesnt want to expand close to the terran so thats why he never took the expansion to the left of his main. it wasnt really BM from flash to expand there, it was a relatively safe position to take too because when he built it all the tanks were still shelling the ramp
I think it may have taken until 2/3rds of the way through this game for flash's CPUs to dissipate the heat they were putting off through some last minute heat sinks added by KTF. It's as if he finally realized the quality of competition he was facing and a facePWN switch activated somewhere on his motherboard that allowed him to quickly dispatch Shuttle/Arbiter/not-high-templar.
9:57 flash looks hilarious. Hand caught in cookie jar.

shuttle never had the game, that was just a timing push from flash like he does 99% of the time

3 Forges for shuttle at around 7:05. Maybe I'm a noob but that it's normal is it? Thought shield upgrades are pretty useless.
bluecheesejoe 2 years ago
Good question, I play zerg so I don't know how good shield upgrades are, But with 3000 minerals to spare I'm sure it can't hurt
Shindrah09 2 years ago 3
Shield upgrades can mean a lot! Maxed Archon vs Maxed Reaver the Archon would win with 1hp because of the shield :p
IoveClaire 2 years ago
Usually are, but after you have armor and ground attack, if you got the resources, why not? Also, it can be useful if you go super heavy archon.

teamliquid?

Most likely the Team Liquid Progaming Database (TLPD), at teamliquid net/tlpd. The easiest way to get stats is just google "TLPD Flash" or similar.

Yep, Gulpy is 100% right about how Ro36 works - it really is the "Round of 40", with 4 buys.

Haha, hamster you win.
I think Flash's cores switched from air to water cooling between games 1 and 2, hence allowing his PWN switch to be turned on effectively.
