what they don't seem to understand is that tuition fees in Canada are very low compared to many other countries. thousands more compared to the U.S and lowering tuition fees would only increase taxes because the only way tuition fees can be reduced is if the government puts millions more dollars into funding university students. especially during this economy, the only way this could happen is higher taxes and TRUST me! taxes are high enough as they are here in Canada!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!­!!!!

while all these poor students demonstrate in the cold. the profs are busy retaliating by making their tests and exams nightmares. now the kids that avoided this free school parade are studying while these Utopian dreamers get nailed in the ass and get kicked out on academic probation.

That's how they control demonstrations they make the school workload nasty- no democracy people just plain old bureaucracy.

Lets all listen to university students. The ones who generally led sheltered, un-insightful lives and the ones who can barely cross the street in proper fasion. I may be in a bad mood right now, but many of the U of T students I have met in my journeys are usually much more immature than the average person of their age. I have launched a social experiment that focuses on university students, it is very interesting, uncovering fascinating bits of info concerning different types of intelligence.

These kids go right from high school into university without a chance to see the "real world." (I hate that term as much as you). From high school to Uni, they are surrounded with the same type of people, bombarded with routine and never really get a chance to find out who they are because they don't have a chance too. It's sad really.

Use your tuition guys. I have a BA from U of T...in my experience most students didnt take advantage of all that is offered in the price we paid. Many had never even been in Hart House. Stop bitching.  Use what you paid for.

if the fed actually decided to use the Bank of Canada properly, no one would have to pay tuition. WHy does the govt insit on paying high interest rates and in turn throwing the responsibility to pay off national loans to the taxpayer? (which it is impossible to actually recover from the level of interest set) If they were to borrow at near zero interest..the surplus of money remaining from taxpayers(from the rates we are paying now) would reduce tuition costs to almost nothing across the country

Just a quick FYI: education (along with healthcare, childcare, and social services) is supposed to be a provincial responsibility and thus not technically any of Harper's business. I'm all for redirecting military spending, but I'd aim for something that actually falls under Federal jurisdiction like the Environment or interprovincial transportation (let's finally get that highspeed train between Mtl and TO that we've been talking about for 30 years).
