  • In this context, the word "Dutch" does not refer to the Dutch people or their descendants

  • The Pennsylvania German language (usually referred to as Pennsylvania Dutch, or simply as Dutch, in American English; usually referred to in Pennsylvania German as Deitsch, Pennsylvania Deitsch or Pennsilfaanisch Deitsch) is a variety of West Central German possibly spoken by more than 250,000 people in North America

  • Reminds me of my Great-Grandmother- she used to make me laugh so hard as a little kid. She would go between the PA German and English as she spoke- it was so unique- an unmistakable sound...Thanks so much for posting this!

  • This is great! These guys are from the same generation as my Great-Grandmother. They speak with a REAL Dutch accent (in English and Dutch). If you have more of this kind of thing, please post!

  • False title

  • I live in the southwest of germany and the pennsylvania "dutch" - what actually german is and not dutch - sounds really really close to the dialect we speak here in germany. I guess I could talk to the people there like I were in germany. Too funny.

  • i my name is Coery and i lived with a Pennsylvania family every summer since i was 7 years old. i know some words in dutch but i was wondering it there is any kinds of books i could buy to improve my dutch,if you have any tips that would be greatly appreciated.

  • also ich versteh überhaupt nix

  • what the fuck this isnt dutch thats for sure cause i am dutch

  • @chahid1992

It's Pennsylvania Duetsch which is a dialect of German. "Dutch" means "German" in the german language.

So it language is "Pennsylvania German" not to be confused with the Dutch Language spoken in the netherlands.

  • @bassbasketball03 aha now i get it.

  • @bassbasketball03 you mean "Deutsch" means "German" in the German language lol

  • Plaitsdeutz is technically Lower Franconian German lanuguage, so it kind of is a "bridge" dialect between Dutch & German.

  • I can understand this: sounds like austrian/swiss

  • I'm glad to see you got this online..
