The only way to get surround sound on an xbox is through an optical connection, the red and white wires don't give surround even if you are using 5.1 speakers...

Im just wanna hook up my two speakers to my xbox. But I'm doing the cheap way by trying to put the wires from my speakers in the audio L - R holes while the red and white xbox cables are in. Didn't work and I dont want to buy a surround sound system.

Hey bud.. very good video! Just an FYI, you're not getting true surround sound. The best you can get out of your set-up is Dolby Pro-Logic. For true surround you would need a digital connection (with a fiber optic cable) from your Xbox to a surround sound receiver. Keep banging out the vids and experimenting on your gear! That's how you learn.

@iSpeakWindows The Xbox is a DVD player, so don't confuse folks m'K? Seriously, Home theater DVD receivers are common, Sony DreamSystems were the first, however, you DaisyChain when possible (old computer term) but be wary of copy protected video signal paths

i did all this and no volume was coming out of my speakers,... it was making a crackaling sound but no volument let me know what to do please??? and why do you need a dvd player if you want sound for your xbox
