HEEEELLLP!!! Ok I am gonna get an Acer Aspire One D150 with a 6-Cell Battery and 1.6GHz Atom thing. I would like to run a couple games just so when I'm bored on vacation or whatever I can type books and songs and play some games when I need a break or something. Is there anything special you need to do to play these games? Do I need to download something that allows me to run it or does it run right out of the box (or website cuz i mite dwnload it :P). On my Acer aspire one when i'm playing cs 1.6 non-steam my fps is: 70 fps , but on cs 1.6 STEAM my fps is : 30 fps why?

@ExRools Maybe Steam uses up ram, get a program called Game Booster, it'll close useless processes that use up, thus giving you more ram space so you have more room for CS 1.6!

if you set your game to use an older version of direct x, you may notice an improvement in CS on your netbook.

It will only effect CS. I think you need to right click CS in steam. Then under general tab, click "set launch options". Input this into the field:

-dxlevel 70

Then click okay.

If that doesn't work, try adding that to the a shortcut to CS on your desktop.

That is what steam is for, you can buy games online, download them, theyre connected to your account so you dont need cd`s, and if steam get deleted, you can download steam again, log in, and you can download your game again without a problem.

RIFLE that's just not true. First though I'll mention that this is a netbook not a notebook/laptop. It's an itx mobo and atom cpu so inherently different. Many common notebooks allow dedicated graphics cards dvd/cd/ram/hdd/cpu upgrades. We don't all own compaqs you know. And for the enthusiast Asus sells the whitebook which is a build it yourself solution.

No actually most often its a simple screw maybe two and a cover is removed from the bottom and you insert the upgrade. Cpu upgrades are different but usually covered for free by the vendor. Asus whitebooks are modular by nature and can be "built" in no time flat.

it actually came with 1GB RAM but i upgraded it to 1.5GB RAM. you can feel the difference by starting apps and exploring the Windows, RUNNING the apps there is not so much difference.

It's not hard at all to install an extra ram module but you should take a lot of care while opening the PC and putting the parts appart, you have to look carefully where all the ribbons are connected to and have a lot of patience while doing it.

you can watch some guides for doing it on Youtube.

estimated total time for it is no more than 10 minutes.
