Part of the problem is that the rider is sitting and using the reins incorrectly, but it also appears that overall, the horse simply has not been trained correctly. The gaits are overall 'irregular', disunited, etc. The canter flying lead changes are incorrect, the passage is incorrect, the pirouettes and extremely incorrect.
The strangeness of the movements is not because the horse is an Akhal-Teke, it's because the schooling, riding and training is incorrect. The horse is stiff and resistant, and has not had its muscles and posture developed properly or sufficiently to do this type of work. Subsequently the work is of very, very poor quality and is incorrect on a number of technical points.
Yes, it is a shame and a bad publicity for this wonderful breed.

No I mean the name of the horse, I know he's an Akhal-Teké

What do you call that trot-thingy in the end?
Looks like the horse´s head is pulled back so hard it can´t put his front legs down right :/
s0erd 3 years ago
I'm not really sure what its called, but it's probably a special gait that is very advanced or only some horses are capable of.
horselover756 3 years ago
he's trying to do the passage, but he is pulling the hard in the horses mouth.
The pirouettes btw also looked very strange. Looks like a very old video

its called a 'passage' :) (old comment i know, sorry :P )
naw, thats just the movement. its a collected trot where the diagonal pairs are held suspended in the air for a moment.
(though i think the rider IS holding him to tight.

No problem, thanks for clearing it up :)
Advanced movements always look strange to me on akhal-tekes. I´m often confused...
