How many folks know that Paul Whiteman was a mentor to Les Paul during Les's stint in the Military Band under Col. Whiteman. This from Les to me personally. Les claimed that Whiteman had "given" him most of his arrangements and these became an inspiration to LP.

Late Acoustic 1924, electrical recording began in 1925. This si a great arrangement forthe period, especially w/Whiteman's Band good balance for an acoustic. Columbias from this period don't even rate aurally - very poor reproduction especially the late "A" series; compared to Victors and Brunswicks.

78timothy, There's some great stuff from the late acoustic era, I love it! Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it. Columbia was certainly lagging behind Victor and Brunswick in the mid-twenties.

You have nice phonograph when u open the cover, motor look diffrent then mine I have big consle made in 1917 it have 2 spring.

RCAradio, I'm sorry, I don't know how I missed the comments on this clip! This motor has two springs as well, both in the same barrel. VTMCo. used a number of different motors over the years although they were mostly all very similar.
