  • Zappa chapa

  • Zappa Chapa!!!!

  • Why is this "totally awesome" ? "Totally awesome" would be Frank playing his own music.

  • where's the rest of the song?

  • zappa believed that sound is to be heard....his sound is being heard...

  • Just like the song.

  • They threatened legal action against Bill's bar in Boston if Project object were to perform any of Frank's music at their venue.

  • Too bad Gail gives Project Object such a hard time. Dweezil and his band are really good, but he is not the be all, end all when it comes to F.Z. Every band with the ability to should play Franks amazing songs.

  • what hard time???

  • Gails the wife? She should've made sure Frank got medicals for prostate cancer.

That sucks Zappa's estate is facist about people playing music; that is wrong. It's not like a club band is going to make a killing with his music. If there's a Zappa tribute band, why squash them. It brings a new audiance to (buy) Franks music? Other Bands allow it.

Copyright extends for a fixed 70 yrs past death of the author. 2063 it will be fair game. Pretty sure I and no one else will care than.

  • How did she allow Gene Simmons to record one of Frank,s (black toung) songs on his asshole album?

  • MONEY that's how. I think Gail is trying to drill for gold and wants to protect her golden goose. It as nothing to do with the music or artistic integrity. I hate to bash his widow, but that is my theory. No doubt Gene offered enough cash.

  • Ironically that's what Zappa would be against today, he was all for Artists' rights, but not to this extreme. Don't think he really cares, looks like it's all about money.

  • Pretty sure that is Ray White singing, saw these guys in vegas Feb.09 where he was singing also

  • That´s Ike Willlis dude.

  • is that ernie watts singing ?

  • Last year I remember some rift between Andre from Project and Dweezil, D played it cool, A didn't...as far as the Zappa trust bringing pressure to bear upon those who play this without their consent, i'm kinda torn...does Deep Purple rip young guitarists for plying "Smoke on the Water"? which mentioned Frank btw...ZPZ is the bomb, saw them live here in Ohio...I've also seen Project O, can't hold a candle to ZPZ...I just like the music no matter if it's the kid down the street playing it...

  • what is there to be "torn" about? it's not like the ZFT have a reasonable point when it comes to shutting down little bands for not playing Frank's music to their personal taste. they're just straight wrong.

  • It's as if the Zappa Trust wants its own sort of ASCAP fee for bands that play Frank's music. I can see this if a band were to sell albums claiming it was their own but how many covers did Frank do himself? Did Frank pay the Allman Bros for Whipping Post? Did he pay the Beatles for I Am The Walrus? I agree, it is straight wrong.

  • uuuuuuuuuummmm..... I just wanted to have some fun w/ Frank :D

  • Was that Ike Willis singing?

  • , if you really have respect for your father and his music you have an asinine way of showing it. To his music you have proven the exact opposite of respect. Your obsequious fawning over "alumni" and your precious associations you have with them are embarrassingly shallow. Your attempts to draw attention to yourself as some sort of soldier fighting the good fight for Frank's music reveal what you really are - a depressing epigone starving for recognition.

A watered down version of Eddie Van H

  • I only went to one Frank Zappa concert

and I was too stoned to remember any of it.

My brothers said I had a good time.

I thought Dweezil and the band did a wonderful job in Dallas. My favorite was the jam between Dweezil and Frank's video.

Remember, the point of the biscuit is... '

    ezpost snickers at naming-calling critics.

  • The crux of the biscuit is the apostraphe.

  • @ezpost the crux of the biscuit man

  • @ezpost you're an idiot. Of any concert to get stoned at you choose an FZ concert... absolutely pathetic. Hopefully, you've changed and you're a "pretty nice guy now, on the day shift at the Utility Muffin Research Kitchen"

By idiot, I in no way mean to insult your intellect, but more the fact that you would miss out on such great music.

Oh Punky!!! Give me your lips !!

  • I have some trouble with this. Zappa live was always experimenting with new material, rarely doing the typical 'best of' type gigs. So in many ways this isn't really like seeing Zappa (Frank) live. Having said that I'd go along if they came to town.

  • Who are they? this is zappa's kid, dweezil, playing zappa's songs with his band.

  • ok, thank you

  • who are they?

  • frank zappa the very best in rock and roll

  • I hope they play this in virginia

  • well I appreciate Frank but this does him no justice. Why doesn't Dweezle stick to his own stuff?

  • I saw Frank many times and now I've seen Dweezle several times. Dweezle LIVE is awesome. Youtube videos don't do justice. I am so grateful Dweezle (ZPZ) and the band Project Object are keeping this great music LIVE.

  • if you know the story behind how they put this together it makes alot more sense, and is a really cool idea.i suggest reading more about it.also it allows the generations that never got to see frank a chance to at least hear the music live.

  • bad?

you obviously have no idea about music, i mean, look at your screen name.

    idiot.

  • blink182 is emo faggot music. Frank Zappa is real music. Frank Zappa is god compared to fucking blink 182.

  • Zappa is god compared to god.

  • lol so true

  • @blink182tupapaes I bet it would be a lot better if the singer had lots of tattoos, spiky hair, and sang in a whiny voice about hating his mom and dad.

  • we saw zpz july '08 and the show was awesome, we had front row seats and were blown away with talent. we hope that you guys return to knoxville, tenn. soon. it was really the BEST!!! my girlfriend was the girl yelling "dweezil, dweezil and Dweezil came over like it was no big deal...very cool guy. he posed with us for a nice picture that we will treasure for ever.....by the way, who were those two dudes in the back seat of Calivn's car?? thank you for keeping Frank's music alive.

  • Saw them tonight...Tour de Frank! Lots of stuff from Sheik Yerbouti. Great performance and a real tribute to a true musical genius! Dweezil plays much better than I'd thought!

  • I saw them live 3 days ago in Orlando, Unfrickinbelievable!!!!

I hope the tour keeps going for years!

  • that wasn't very low for a tenor sax.... saw these guys live last night, she went a helluva lot lower with that tenor during the night

  • Theres a keyboard or dist bass or something in there too, you can distinctly hear them both. Shes just playin normal range.

  • Good gig, D man did the family proud go cuzzz

  • are you really related?

damn i wish i could be a zappa...

  • Having seen ZPZ three times I recommend them even tho I don`t know FZ`s catalog thoroughly. Just that super hot amazing player Scheila Gonzalez on sax and keys is worth it. HOT.

  • He doesn't play it on this particular song

  • man ike has such a good voice

  • That's not Ike ...That's Ray White

  • Why doesn't he play guitar?

  • damn i fell like a retard

  • Where Is Steve Vai

  • That was the previous ZPZ tour... the first time around was definitely better, but Ray White had a certain charm about him. In either case, Steve only played a few numbers that required his services, and this would not be one of them.

  • its great to see the zappa family keeping franks music alive

  • Project Object is also a lot of fun to see, looking forward to Bonnaroo's lineup..

  • Thats great.

  • I am 12 and got turned on to zappa about three years ago. I went to the show in Kingston and ment the drummer outside. are they really playing at the bonnaro festival in tennise

  • Great

I'm 18 and just got turned on to Zappa and am excited to see "Zappa Plays Zappa" at Bonnaroo 08.

    "BILLY THE MOUNTAIN" please, Dweezil.

  • Wow Ray white, great work Dweezil.

  • Nice to see Ray White! I saw ZPZ last year in december in Houston, was a great show...
