If Im wrong a Ghanaian will possibly interrupt;) Akan is been used my the majority of ppl in Accra and Ashanti Region (Ga and Twi). But most ppl do understand Akan.

Netherless Ghana was a British colony untill 1957 (1960 they bacame a republic) that means they have adopted some of the British system for instance the language. English is the official language of Ghana. Ghana has a lot of different languages, English is the one language most ppl understand and by so unite them. So they speak both
