lol ok. Its just a v6. And 89-95 shos had 3.2 or 3.0 v6's. 96-99 Shos had 3.4 liter v8s. My car is a 98 but just the 24valve v6. SOOOO. It IS just a 6!
The 24V is a great motor, its high tech (considering the basic design came out in 93ish in the contour 2.5), high power, high revs...definitely worthy of true duals.
sounds real nice, it has a great growl for only 3 liters.
I cant beat new ones. All v-6's I can, even the new 4liter. I have beaten an OLDDDD 5.0. Its not THAT slow, its slow but pretty decent for a v6 and not a SHO.
Just for shits a giggles. Stock mufflers were rusted out anyways. These were only $15 more than stock replacements, so I said what the hell and got these.

I never said i hated 6 cyclinders. i said i hated V6's. they're poorly designed. the Supra uses an Inline 6 which makes sense because the longer crankshaft can handle more power. The fastest, well, anything is 8 cylinders. Worlds fastest street legal car is a V8, worlds fastest internal combustion drag cars are V8's, worlds fastest car (bugatti veyron) is a W16, which is essentially 2 V8's. Formula 1 cars use V8's
A V6 is inherently more efficient than a V8. A little thing called balance. V6's have it, V8's don't. So, V8's have a parasitic loss, much like an I4, dedicated to merely making the engine spin smoothly. Also, a V6 is capable of making gobs of power while still maintaining some semblance of fuel economy.
a V6 is on the fence, not alot of power, not alot of fuel economy, you cant have everything in life. and no, a V6 is not inherently balanced, why do you think GM had to put a counterweight in their V6's? an inline-6; however, is very well balanced. its difficult to balance an engine which has cylinders that lie on the axis since when they fire they cannot "counter" another cylinder which fired on another side of any axis. as it turns out, the V8 layout is one of the most balanced there is.
why do you think so many companies like Audi, Mercedes, BMW, even Toyota which are known for their refinement are using smaller dicplacement V8's as opposed to larger displacement V6's? also, fuel economy is very dependent on engine load, you think your V6 can get the same fuel economy as a vette when both cars are accelerating at the same speed? good luck. refinement is another issue, US V8's arent as refined and project a poor image, but from an engineering standpoint, V8>V6, I would know.

obviously you heard i-6's are naturally balanced, and only retained the "6" part. only 3 types of engines are naturally balanced: i6, v12, and boxer engines. i6's can fire smoothly, and a v12 should fire essentially like 2 independent i6's. the boxer directly balances itself through opposing pistons firing at the same time.
more cylinders = more balance = smoother running engine. do a little research...its quite true...why do you think V8's and V10's etc never have balance shafts whereas I4's and some V6's do?
That explains why the Ford V10 has a balance shaft.
Here's a little technobabble for ya:
A v6 engine's optimally balanced angle is 120 degrees, hence why most v6es are 60 degree engines. A v8's optimal angle is 90 degrees, hence why 95% of v8s are 90 degree engines. A 4 cylinder engine's optimal setup is in a horizontal plane (180 degrees), like a "boxer" or flat engine.
ford hasn't built a good engine that produces a half decent power per litre ratio since the 5.0. I could care less about their attempt at a v10. More cylinders - a smoother running engine, especially with an even number of engines. if ford changed up their firing order a bit, it would probably run a little smoother.

Now may I remind you, I never said number of cylinders is the WHOLE reason an engine will run smoother. It's a big part of it tho.the power strokes of the pistons do not overlap with four cylinders and four cycles to go thru, each piston must complete its power stroke and come to a complete stop before the next piston can start a new power stroke in engines with more cylinders the power strokes overlap which gives them a smoother delivery of power and less vibration than a four banger.
Having more cylinders in an engine gives the benefit of a smoother running engine Ie: less vibration. first, the engine can have a larger displacement with smaller individual reciprocating masses meaning the mass of each piston can be less thus making a smoother running engine since the engine tends to vibrate as a result of the pistons moving up and down. Yet another reason luxury cars and limited editions come with a V6 or V8 rather than an equally powerful yet more efficient 4 banger.

I cant beat new ones. All v-6's I can, even the new 4liter. I have beaten an OLDDDD 5.0. Its not THAT slow, its slow but pretty decent for a v6 and not a SHO.

Just for shits a giggles. Stock mufflers were rusted out anyways. These were only $15 more than stock replacements, so I said what the hell and got these.

Nope its not a SHO. And yes, I has a full sho body on it and the tips haha. If all goes right and I have to money, at 100k miles its getting a rebuilt engine and trans and MAYBE a small turbo. << For everyone whos going to flame me about the turbo dont even. I said MAYBE and thats a 70% chance it wont happen.

I have a Vulcan, and I'd say its prety damn fast for a car that we bought banged up for $1000. when i bought the thing, it took 20 sec to get to 60 mph. $500 later (tires, filters, fluids, Bondo) my spine is permanintly imprinted in the seat.

I hate V6's. They're so pointless. this video just seems like some guy who's parents bought him a taurus, so he decided to, for lack of a better term, "rice" it with some mufflers. Come to think of it, i hate Ford Taurus' as well.

And sorry that you hate 6 cylinders...some of the fastest street cars are 6 cylinders FYI. My frieds TT stealth ran 10.80's. And youve probably seen all the Supras beating V8's on youtube. I never said i hated 6 cyclinders. i said i hated V6's. they're poorly designed. the Supra uses an Inline 6 which makes sense because the longer crankshaft can handle more power. The fastest, well, anything is 8 cylinders. Worlds fastest street legal car is a V8, worlds fastest internal combustion drag cars are V8's, worlds fastest car (bugatti veyron) is a W16, which is essentially 2 V8's. Formula 1 cars use V8's

A V6 is inherently more efficient than a V8. A little thing called balance. V6's have it, V8's don't. So, V8's have a parasitic loss, much like an I4, dedicated to merely making the engine spin smoothly. Also, a V6 is capable of making gobs of power while still maintaining some semblance of fuel economy.

a V6 is on the fence, not alot of power, not alot of fuel economy, you cant have everything in life. and no, a V6 is not inherently balanced, why do you think GM had to put a counterweight in their V6's? an inline-6; however, is very well balanced. its difficult to balance an engine which has cylinders that lie on the axis since when they fire they cannot "counter" another cylinder which fired on another side of any axis. as it turns out, the V8 layout is one of the most balanced there is.

If I remember correctly GM could never quite get their 3800 V6 balanced perfectly. Its especially noticeable in the series 1 engines.

why do you think so many companies like Audi, Mercedes, BMW, even Toyota which are known for their refinement are using smaller dicplacement V8's as opposed to larger displacement V6's? also, fuel economy is very dependent on engine load, you think your V6 can get the same fuel economy as a vette when both cars are accelerating at the same speed? good luck. refinement is another issue, US V8's arent as refined and project a poor image, but from an engineering standpoint, V8>V6, I would know.

obviously you heard i-6's are naturally balanced, and only retained the "6" part. only 3 types of engines are naturally balanced: i6, v12, and boxer engines. i6's can fire smoothly, and a v12 should fire essentially like 2 independent i6's. the boxer directly balances itself through opposing pistons firing at the same time.

Here's a little technobabble for ya:
A v6 engine's optimally balanced angle is 120 degrees, hence why most v6es are 60 degree engines. A v8's optimal angle is 90 degrees, hence why 95% of v8s are 90 degree engines. A 4 cylinder engine's optimal setup is in a horizontal plane (180 degrees), like a "boxer" or flat engine.

ford hasn't built a good engine that produces a half decent power per litre ratio since the 5.0. I could care less about their attempt at a v10. More cylinders - a smoother running engine, especially with an even number of engines. if ford changed up their firing order a bit, it would probably run a little smoother.

well. you just talked, didn't provide any proof. but anyway. if i said balance i meant smoothness. whatever. more cylinders = a smoother running engine. thats why a jaguar v16 runs outstandingly smooth compared to a 4 cylinder. v8 or i4? v8 is smoother, v6 or i4, v6 is smoother. i6 or i4? i6 is smoother. more fires spaced further apart rather than a bunch of fires spaced closed together. i took a whole class on engine harshness and vibration. this is only part of what i learned.

Now may I remind you, I never said number of cylinders is the WHOLE reason an engine will run smoother. It's a big part of it tho.the power strokes of the pistons do not overlap with four cylinders and four cycles to go thru, each piston must complete its power stroke and come to a complete stop before the next piston can start a new power stroke in engines with more cylinders the power strokes overlap which gives them a smoother delivery of power and less vibration than a four banger.

Having more cylinders in an engine gives the benefit of a smoother running engine Ie: less vibration. first, the engine can have a larger displacement with smaller individual reciprocating masses meaning the mass of each piston can be less thus making a smoother running engine since the engine tends to vibrate as a result of the pistons moving up and down. Yet another reason luxury cars and limited editions come with a V6 or V8 rather than an equally powerful yet more efficient 4 banger.

lol , I know I know. In my opinion the 24v is one of the best sounding v6 engines though. It does sound good for only a 3 liter, the camera doesnt do much justification on the sound either, it does sound a lot better in person.
