I didn't get what he was talking about until the end, so I had to re-watch it. All of a sudden it made perfect sense. This is a great piece of instruction.
*Removes his hands completely from the bass and places them in his lap.. bass continues to make slapping clipping and other off time popping noises... Victor "any questions?"
The thing is, the fast riffs we see here are training. Victor believes, and so do I, that if you play as flashy and as fast as you can during trainings, toning it down will be easy.
I've been to one of these type of things with Jeff Berlin, it did teach me a lot, and is a program, but most of it was learned in the first week. These guys will teach you concepts and try to show you how to read music. If your not interested in reading music, GOOD...Its basically memorization. You can get the same information from a 12 dollar book. Learning fingering position, technique, and getting the skills to move on is what you learn, but this video works as good as being there.
@mashmnky try looking to his lesson videos and u'll understand that he's explaining that technique is not as important as the groove. make mistakes but don't lose the groove. it's really impressive how much u can learn in a small amount of time. but if u have too much time on your hands for useless opinions and little 4 improving your skills thats another thing
yeah, this is a great way to improve your timing as a musician. it's a really hard exercise. shame he's just playing such complicated stuff on top to demonstrate it. try it with just a simple groove and you'll see just how hard it is and how it improves your playing.
try do the same as the people hes sitting with... Try to hit that drum, without thinking about it and just guessing. First time i hitted it eaxtly at the right moment at thats just amazing, because if u had told me to try to it i couldnt... victor wooten is telling them to not play the music, feel it

sorry, but I'm w/ steve. Wooten is a nice player but all of those fast riffs get monotonus and boring after a minute or two.
